What the hell is going on…? Who's moaning?
I woke up randomly, I wanted to sleep… unfortunately, these moans and groans were entering my ears. They were loud for me, and rather distracting…
It was so obvious they were trying to keep it quiet, but it was bouncing around my ears…
Can't James and Melinda go somewhere further? There are kids… I grumbled inside my mind. I turned over as I blocked these sounds. My ears were extra sensitive to sound in general, so it really didn't help.
After some struggle, I felt myself starting to drift; and I eventually fell into dreamland after.
Unfortunately, that did not last long. As slowly as it came, my moment of a sort of peaceful sleep ended abruptly again.
I felt myself jolt awake, and my arms covering the top of my head. Possibly… due to being slightly groggy, I wasn't hurt or feeling pain.
"Great…." I whispered to myself. I can't fall back asleep, and my internal clock is saying it's morning… "I'll have to yell at James and Melinda…?"
When I looked towards them, I could see Melinda hugging James tightly. I didn't smell anything off, they were sleeping. And they didn't do that from as far as I can see.
Then who the fuck was moaning last night…? Whoever did, I'm going to set their literal ass on fire. Of course, it'll just be enough to scare them! I don't want to hurt those around me purposely…
Ahem, well, it's time to get up. Might be able to find the culprit. Hope they don't run… doubt they could with the eugh…
Think about something else, Yukina. You need to focus on something else…
I opened the flap of our tent, and felt the cold air of the morning hit me. The weather on these plains was quite nice in the morning. It was chilly, but you could feel how gentle the chilly breeze is in the morning. Well, at least something in this land is gentle..
"Oh, good morning Yukina." The first thing I saw was Shen. She was sitting by a campfire. Ever since she lost her strength, she seems more human…
She began to get cold, shivering at times. Hell, she joined us more for a bite to eat… although it was raw meat.
Like usual, she had a neat appearance, but something was different. Her hair was slightly messy, and her cleavage was hanging out more
"Good morning…" I greeted her back. She noticed my stares as she covered herself back up. That's really weird. Why was her dress so far down?
Internally I tilted my head at Shen's appearance even further. When I got closer to her, I smelled something off…
She had a scent now, albeit… terrible at the moment. I couldn't describe it, but it caused me to hide a gag. She was always odorless, and my suspicion meter was kicking off wildly.
"You're up early, something is bothering you?" Shen asked me.
"Did you eat something?"
"No, why would you ask that?"
Because there's this weird ass smell on you?! Can she not smell it?!
"Ugh, nevermind…nevermind." I waved her question away. "You're up early too?"
"Woke up randomly. Could not sleep." Shen responded nonchalantly. "Practicing today aren't ya?"
No, no I am not. I'll be practicing swordplay. Internally I replied to her, this odd smell is really getting to me.
She looked really clean like usual, it's immensely odd that she smells like this... Anyways, I shook my head before sitting on the opposite side of the campfire.
For some time we sat there in silence. A few times I had to cover my nose. The smell was never going away, and my senses were going into overdrive.
I need to find something… it's so bad…
In the end, I decided to focus on my spells until nearly everyone was awake.
James climbed out of the tent, whilst stretching his back forward; then waving towards us with Melinda and Allisa appearing behind him.
Thank god… Verd and Shaun followed suit, with their families.
Then the sun was almost directly above us, and Jin finally clambered out of his tent. Literally clambered, he struggled to get to his feet and almost fell over.
Shaun had to wander over and keep him from fully falling.
"Thanks…"
Shaun, once fully sure Jin could stand up, went back to his wife with furrowed eyebrows.
"It's weird you woke up late." Shaun pointed out; it's pretty true, he's usually up before everyone. Plus… he seems pretty ragged.
Jin didn't respond as he rubbed his eyes. Then, he shook his head before hobbling towards the campfire. Did he ignore Shaun…?
"Hey Jin, you in there?" Shaun called out to the mentioned person. Jin finally stopped and turned back towards Shaun.
"Huh?"
"Are you alright?"
"Oh, um, yeah I just struggled to sleep." Jin lied as he scratched the back of his head. How did I know he was lying? His tone of voice was quieter than usual.
Normally he is quiet… but he was meek this time. And the airheadedness just displayed was un-jin like if it's something other than money.
Something was seriously off, and I had to get to the bottom of it! Did a succubus come into Jin's dream and eat his life force?
Detective Yukina Gabri is on the case! Nah, no, no that is way too cringy… Either way, the answer was pretty obvious.
Shaun helped Jin walk to the campfire we were all around. Once on his butt, he kept his eyes locked into the fire.
"Jin, do you need healing?" James popped in front of him. I think that's pretty obvious, genius…
It took a minute, Jin was staring at the campfire still. Yeah, he definitely needs it. Something obviously drained him. Subconsciously, I looked towards Shen.
It's definitely her… she's not wearing a ring… so I don't think she found her old wife…
As my thoughts ran, I heard Jin respond finally. "Yeah… the stamina recovery one, please…"
Was Shen a succubus…? Just how long did those two go for? Geeeeez…. Makes sense why she- hold on, is that smell what I'm actually smelling is…?
Bad Yukina… don't think of that! No, ew! When the realization struck me, I felt the urge to vomit come up.
The thought was so abhorrent as a girl now, I physically scooted away from Shen. How the heck is she so calm about it?! Wasn't she married in her past life?!?!
Forcefully I turned to stare at Jin, James had his hand on the mentioned shoulder.
Why do I feel quite surprised at this? Mister Takeda, or well, Shen now, was married to a woman in the past. Not a guy, a woman.
Did his sexual preference change after so long? Is that possible? Is it? Or did he get cursed?
And isn't he worried about getting pregnant? After all… the stench that radiated from him was not so small. Plus, how drained Jin looks; a superhuman.
Ugh… why am I thinking about this…? What should I even expect at this point?
I lowered my shoulders before resting my hand on my chin.
Should I just tease her later? Seeing how much she has changed from being Takeda… it might work….
"What are you staring at?" Shen suddenly questioned, her eyebrows furrowed
"Nothing, nothing-" I waved her question, then continued instantly after. "I was just trying to figure out what happened with Jin."
"I didn't do anything."
