Chapter 879 - Chapter 879

A primordial behemoth that had slept for ten thousand years—a gigantic octopus monster whose size rivaled a mountain range—was jolted awake by the drilling. Burning with monstrous fury at having its sleep disturbed, it rose from the abyss.

With a casual swing of one tentacle, a ten-thousand-ton cruiser on patrol nearby was snapped in half like a toy and quickly sank into the freezing sea.

The octopus monster spewed a thick, ink-black liquid. The "ink" didn't just block visibility—it was violently corrosive. A harsh stench spread through the water, and even steel could be dissolved in a short time.

Alarms spread across coastlines in an instant. The entire world fell into panic. Human warships were helpless before this prehistoric monster.

Just as the world's militaries were at a loss and preparing to use their final measures (methods that could trigger unforeseeable ecological catastrophe), the guardian of the seas appeared.

The King of Atlantis Aquaman, rose from the deep astride his massive war shark, leading the armies of the undersea kingdom.

"In the name of Atlantis, stop this beast!" Aquaman raised the sacred Trident of Neptune high above his head. His golden armor gleamed in the dim seawater. The trident stirred colossal currents, forming a huge underwater whirlpool in an attempt to bind the monster. The sharp tips, carrying power that could tear the sea itself, thrust toward the octopus monster's massive head.

However, an attack that could cleave submarine armor only carved a shallow cut across the monster's rough, thick hide, drawing a small amount of blue blood.

For a creature of its size, that wound was no more than a mosquito bite—and it only enraged it further.

More tentacles surged forth like crazed, writhing giant serpents, sweeping toward Aquaman and his forces. The battle on the seafloor fell into a deadlock. Aquaman could protect himself, but he couldn't truly threaten the deep-sea overlord.

Meanwhile, an ordinary deep-sea fishing boat was following its planned route when it was unlucky enough to graze the edge of the disaster zone. The hull pitched violently. The crew stared in terror at the radar—at a blip so huge it made no sense—and at the distant shadow on the surface, a dark mass as big as an island.

Saitama was standing on the deck of that boat.

He'd heard that a certain kind of Atlantic fish had been especially delicious lately and reasonably priced, so he'd hitched a ride out to buy some to take home and try. He hadn't expected to run into this.

Captain Old Jack's face went white as paper as he shouted to the crew, "Turn! Turn now! Get us out of here!"

Saitama steadied himself on the railing and squinted toward the distant octopus monster that was churning sea and sky. There was no fear on his face, if anything, there was a hint of… curiosity?

"That's a huge octopus…" Saitama remarked. "If you made that into takoyaki, it'd last you a long time."

A sailor beside him nearly passed out. At a time like this, he's thinking about eating?!

Right then, one of the monster's gigantic tentacles broke through the Atlantean army's interception and slammed down toward the fishing boat like a pillar holding up the heavens. Its shadow swallowed the entire vessel.

The crew let out screams of pure despair.

Saitama glanced at the tentacle blotting out the sky, then at the tiny, rocking boat beneath his feet, and muttered, "If the boat sinks, then the fish I'm buying will be a total waste, won't it?"

Before the words even finished

Under the crew's horrified gazes, Saitama sprang forward and jumped straight over the rail, launching himself toward that massive tentacle—over ten meters thick.
