Saitama held the Yeti's wrist, felt the icy fur and that frightening strength for a moment, then gently twisted in the opposite direction.
Crack—THUNK!!
A string of scalp-crawling sounds of bones snapping and muscles tearing rang out! Starting from the wrist, the Yeti's unbelievably thick arm twisted at a grotesquely unnatural angle and broke. White bone fragments even pierced through the fur and stuck out!
"AOOO—!!!"
The Yeti let out the most shrill, miserable howl it had ever produced. The overwhelming pain wiped out its fighting spirit instantly. It clutched its broken arm with the other hand, staring at Saitama in terror as if it had seen something deeper and darker than the eternal cold itself. Without hesitation, it turned and fled bolting in disgrace toward a massive ice cave deeper in the icefield, even faster than it had charged in.
Thor had his hammer raised, ready to take the hit head-on, but instead he saw the Yeti suddenly scream, lose an arm, and run—while a bald man had appeared in front of him at some point. Everything that had happened in that split second was so fast that even an Asgardian god hadn't fully seen it.
"Y-you… who are you?" Thor lowered Mjolnir, staring at Saitama with uncertainty and alarm. He could feel it: inside this seemingly ordinary human was a power as vast as a star.
Saitama rubbed his hands together and blew out a puff of white breath. "Saitama. Man, it's cold here… That big guy ran into the cave. Aren't we chasing it?"
Thor snapped back to himself and looked toward the direction the Yeti had fled, battle intent rising again. "Of course we're chasing it! This menace must be dealt with completely!" He looked at Saitama. "Mortal… no, friend. Will you come too? It may be more dangerous inside that cave."
Saitama glanced at the gloomy sky and the screaming wind, then at the cave entrance that looked relatively sheltered from the storm, and nodded. "Alright. Might be warmer inside."
The ice cave's entrance was enormous, the interior deep and winding. The walls were coated in ancient, unmelting ice that reflected faint light, making everything look strange and dazzling. The deeper they went, the heavier the cold became. The air carried a beastly stench and an odd ripple of energy.
Thor led the way, the lightning on Mjolnir lighting their path. Saitama followed behind with his hands in his pockets, curiously taking in this natural ice cavern.
After several hundred meters, the passage suddenly opened into a vast ice chamber. The sight made Thor's pupils tighten. The one-armed Yeti lay collapsed in the center of the chamber, letting out pained whimpers. And around it… there were dozens of smaller Yetis gathered—only a bit over two meters tall, with grayer fur. They seemed to be juvenile younglings. They circled the wounded adult, hissing anxiously, and fixed Thor and Saitama with hostile, wary stares.
"…There are this many?" Thor tightened his grip on the hammer, his expression grim. A full-grown one had already been troublesome—if these young Yetis swarmed him all at once, even he would have a hard time. And at the deepest end of the chamber, a massive diamond-shaped ice core hovered in midair, glowing with a faint, eerie blue light. It continuously poured out intense cold—clearly the source of the cavern's freezing temperature, and the reason the Yetis' power was being boosted here.
"We must destroy that ice core!" Thor made the call instantly. He raised Mjolnir high, preparing to summon a mighty bolt—an area attack meant to destroy both the ice core and the juvenile Yetis in one sweep.
