Chapter 44 - Bank Branches and ASUR

January 1, 1988

Happy new year Guys🥳..

Thanks, Athrava_Tanopi and Siddharth, for the support.

I'll upload one more chapter today as promised.

Raj was seated in his office when Suraj entered, carrying a thick folder.

"Boss, here are the latest files," Suraj began. "In the past two months, we've successfully opened 30 additional Luxmi Bank branches in Maharashtra, 10 in Gujarat, and 10 in Delhi. That brings our current total to 90 branches. The remaining 40 are under construction and should be fully operational in the next two to three months, taking us to 130 branches overall.

But, boss, we're facing a serious issue."

Raj looked up. "What's the problem?"

Suraj explained, "The new branches don't have enough customers yet. Deposits and account openings are growing slowly, even with the zero-balance account scheme. At this rate, it will take at least two to three years before these branches become profitable."

Raj leaned back, thinking for a moment. Then he spoke decisively.

"Alright, we'll accelerate growth. Implement these new initiatives immediately:

1. Launch an incentive scheme: Anyone who opens a new account with us will instantly receive ₹10 credited to their account. However, this amount cannot be withdrawn until the customer deposits at least ₹10 of their own money and keeps it in the account for 30 days. After that period, they can withdraw the full ₹20.

2. Introduce a referral bonus: If an existing customer recommends Luxmi Bank to someone who then opens an account, the recommender will instantly receive ₹10, fully withdrawable.

We currently have over 2 lakh customers. If this scheme brings in another 2 lakh, the maximum cost to us would be around ₹40 lakh (₹20 per new customer on average). We can easily absorb that.

3. Send teams to schools, colleges, and universities across our operational areas. Educate students on the importance of banking and open zero-balance accounts for them on the spot—free of charge, no paperwork fees.

4. Make account opening completely free across all branches—no charges whatsoever.

With these steps, we should double our customer base within a few months."

Suraj quickly jotted down every instruction. "Understood, boss. I'll roll these out as fast as possible."

After Suraj left, Raj summoned Arjun Das.

Das entered promptly. "You called, boss?"

Raj got straight to the point. "Update me on Kashmir. What's the current situation and our progress?"

Das reported, "Boss, after we anonymously passed information on 40 militants to the army, they captured 28 alive. Interrogations led to more leads—secret routes, safe houses—and the army arrested another 40 militants.

On our side, the first month was spent quietly establishing covert bases. In the second month, we launched operations. ASUR eliminated 50 militants, extracting valuable intelligence on hideouts and supply routes before each elimination.

Combined pressure from the army and our actions has severely rattled the militants. Their handlers in Pakistan are panicking—years of investment are collapsing. In desperation, they ordered escalated attacks. As a result, militants carried out multiple ambushes targeting army personnel and Hindu civilians, killing 20 soldiers and 50 civilians."

Raj's expression hardened. "Their retaliation shows just how cornered they are. Good. Intensify our operations. Eliminate every remaining militant on our list—but do it silently. No bodies, no traces. No one should ever know where they disappeared to."

He paused, then asked, "How many new ASUR recruits do we have?"

"In these two months, we've added 200 more, bringing our total strength to 700. All new recruits have been enhanced with the JS-1 serum. Currently, 250 ASUR operatives are active in Kashmir."

Raj nodded. "Excellent work. Carry on."

Das saluted lightly and left the office.
