Chapter 97 - Upgrade

"Sir-"

"What!?" Preston jumped awake in the leather seat in his study, an open bottle of scotch on the side table next to him with an already filled whiskey glass.

"Your wife is back, sir," Samson answered, his voice neutral as ever.

Preston frowned and glanced at his watch, "It's morning already?!"

"Yes, sir, you fell asleep sometime around four in the morning," Samson replied, making Preston grimace, "You said my wife was back?"

Samson nodded, "She's waiting for you in the lounge."

Preston grunted, slowly standing upright while trying to ignore the pounding migraine and awful aftertaste in his mouth, "Just tell me, how pissed off did she look?"

Samson paused for a long moment before speaking, "It's odd, Sir, but your wife didn't seem that emotional…in fact, she looked oddly…at ease."

Preston froze as his jaw clenched and his hands tightened into fists, "That is about the single worst thing you could have said."

Samson looked confused for a bit before realizing how it must have sounded in context: "S-sorry, sir."

Preston just grunted again before shouldering past Samson and making his way out of the study.

Less than a minute later, Preston entered the lounge and found his wife sitting in one of the cloth chairs, facing the bay windows that let the morning sun stream into the room.

Hearing him approach, Priscilla looked over and smirked at her husband's disheveled appearance, "I see you didn't get much sleep….I guess that makes two of us."

Preston's simmering rage exploded, and with a roar of anger, he lashed out, grabbing a nearby chair and throwing it against the wall with a loud thud, "GODDAMNIT!!!"

Watching the temper tantrum, Priscilla just rolled her eyes and picked up the cup of tea the maids had made for her. "Are you done yet?"

Preston took a ragged breath before glaring at Priscilla, "Fuck you!"

"Interesting choice of words," Priscilla quipped as she took a sip from her cup and listened to the sound of Preston's teeth grinding together, "I'm glad you're so amused by this situation."

Priscilla's smile melted off her face as she glared at Preston with a disgusted look in her eyes, "A situation that you got us into, because you could cover your own fucking ass!"

Preston's face flushed, turning bright red with anger, "And you were just so fucking eager to go along with it!!"

"Go along with it?!" Priscilla shouted in disbelief as she slammed her cup down on the side table, "You fucking begged me to do it, you pathetic spineless bastard, all over fifteen million dollars?! Is that how much I'm worth to you?! Is that the price tag you slapped on my ass?!"

"Well It's about damn time!" Preston swore, "After all the shopping trips, luxurious vacations, and the fucking surgery, it's about damn time I got some return on my investment!"

In a flash, Priscilla stood up, stormed over to Preston, and started slapping him with her hands, "Y-you rotten son of a bitch, I hate you, I hate you!"

Preston reached up and grabbed Priscilla's wrists, holding her still, "Don't you dare fucking touch me, you ungrateful bitch!"

"Ahhh!" Priscilla wailed before her knee shot up and caught Preston in the stomach.

"Nhg!" Preston wheezed, and his grip went weak, letting Priscilla pull away, "That's it, we're done! I'm divorcing you, Preston, you hear me, I'm done with all your shit!"

"O-oh really?" Preston grimaced as he stood upright and glared at Priscilla, "And then what, you're going to get a job? Marry some other poor bastard?!"

Priscilla smirked, "No, I think I'm going to ask for half of your networth in the divorce."

"Forgot about the prenup you signed, you dumb bitch?!" Preston snarled with a victorious smile, waiting to see the confidence melt off of Priscilla's face. But that never happened.

"No I didn't, which I why I called my lawyer and checked what would happen in the scenario that my husband sold me to cover his gambling debts, betraying our vows and causing me so much emotional distress that I can't even think straight!" Priscilla replied snobbishly with a victorious grin across her face, "Let's just say that he was confident that there isn't a court in the country that would award me anything I wanted, including half of everything you're worth and complete custody of our daughter!"

"Our daughter…Our daughter!!" Preston screamed, and he nearly charged Priscilla and would have if Samson hadn't suddenly intervened holding him back, "You heartless whore!! You wanna keep me away from my daughter?!"

"Why not, after all, it's probably only a matter of time before you try and sell her off as well!" Priscilla snapped back, making Preston lunge for her, but he couldn't make Samson budge in the slightest, "Get out! Get out of my house!"

"Fine, I already packed my things, but before I leave, I wanted to give you this," Priscilla responded primly as she reached into her pocket and pulled out a flash drive that she placed on the table.

"What's that?" Preston demanded as he looked from the drive to Priscilla's smug face as she grinned at him, "Just a little memento from last night, Ramon figured you might appreciate it."

Preston's face was confused for a second before it paled rapidly as he realized what was on the drive, "Y-you didn't."

Priscilla only smiled before she left the room, leaving the drive as an ominous reminder.

"FUCK!!" Preston screamed as he broke free from Samson's grip and started trashing the room, throwing everything he could get his hands on, and kept going until he was out of breath with his vision swimming and his head pounding.

'It's all his fault, that fucking no good nothing chef!' Preston's bloodshot eyes snapped up and glared into space, imagining the man responsible, "Samson, I'm gonna need you to take care of some matters for me."

--[Ramon]--

"I see that you guys didn't waste any time making yourselves at home."

Patty and Megan looked over as I stepped into the penthouse living room and looked around at all the newly added throw blankets and pillows that I couldn't remember having seen before. "Did you guys go furniture shopping?"

"Well, we weren't going to just sit around all day," Megan replied cheekily as she skipped over and planted a kiss on my cheek.

"So we decided to help you out as a thank you and get some essentials for the place," Patty finished off as she also moved over and kissed me as well, a rather forward move for her, "Though it wasn't much, seeing as you already helped us move everything from the old apartment."

"Oh yeah, when do you think the construction will be finished?!" Megan asked, suddenly recalling why they had moved out with so little warning.

"It should be finished today, actually. I came over here to pick the two of you up so we could check it out together." I replied while wrapping my arms around Patty and Megan's waists.

"Already? But how?" Patty questioned, her face scrunching up in an endearing way as she tried to figure it out.

"Just some good old demon magic," I replied while wiggling my fingers through the air.

"Aren't people going to get a bit suspicious?" Megan asked, starting to think about the situation herself.

"I don't think so, I'm pretty sure there's some type of veil that makes regular people glance over things when magic's involved, you know, unless I directly show it to them,"

"Oh, you mean how mortals couldn't see the monsters in Percy Jackson?" Patty referenced only to blush when she saw Megan, and I shared a glance, "She's adorable, isn't she?"

"Absolutely," Megan agreed to Patty's dismay, and she buried her face in her hands, "Please forget I ever said that!"

"Nope!" I denied with a laugh, "Now come on, let's go check out the restaurant."

---

"Woah," Megan stepped out of the car and stared wide eyed at the new restaurant front, "Your demon magic really went to work."

"Are you sure people won't notice, it's such a big difference," Patty muttered worriedly as she stared at the restaurant as well and I could understand the reason for her concern.

In the span of a day, the restaurant had gone from looking like a grandfather establishment of the town to the newly constructed building, 'What the hell did the system do? Polish each individual brick? There's not even an alley anymore.'

I grinned at the new furbished look, but as pretty as the restaurant looked, nothing could tell me more than the updated property page.
