The next day, Cass wasted no time. He freshened up quickly, mind laser-focused on the task at hand. His steps carried him through the academy grounds until he spotted Rin waiting for him in an open hallway.
As expected, the moment Rin saw him, he waved. Cass walked straight over.
"Hey, did you help me get what I asked?"
"Yeah, of course I did," Rin replied, handing him two miniature-sized objects. Cass collected them swiftly and tucked them into his pants pocket.
"Thank you," Cass muttered.
Rin nodded, but worry laced his voice as he asked, "So… this is going to help you get out of trouble?"
Cass sighed. "C'mon, Rin. I already explained my situation over the phone."
"Explaining your situation doesn't fix it."
"That's why I have to give this a try. And pray it works."
"And if it doesn't?" Rin pressed, his brows furrowed with worry.
"I don't know… but I won't think negatively," Cass answered firmly.
Rin bit his lip. "Cass, this is serious. You… you can't be expelled. Don't take this lightly."
"If I were taking it lightly, I wouldn't be here right now. I know how serious this is, Rin. And trust me I don't want to get expelled. I believe everything will be fine. So trust me… and go attend your classes."
After one more stern lecture and a promise extracted for Cass to update him on the outcome, Rin finally left.
Cass, however, continued forward. His steps carried him all the way to the academy hospital. At last, he stood in front of Kai's ward door.
Alright. Here goes nothing.
He inhaled sharply, pushed the door open, and stepped inside.
Two figures occupied the room. Both froze when they saw him only for their composure to return a moment later.
Kai, sitting smugly on the hospital bed, sneered. "Look who we have here."
Cass ignored the bait, crossing the room and seating himself opposite Kai. His eyes flicked briefly to the second figure in the room someone not even hospitalised. Of course. Only Kai was in the bed. Where were the other supposed victims?
His gaze returned to Kai, scanning him head to toe before speaking, his voice calm, sharp-edged. "I thought Alphas were supposed to be strong. If I didn't know better, I'd mistake you for an Omega. Look at you still in the hospital from just a small hit."
Kai's face contorted instantly. Cass pressed the hidden recording device in his pocket.
Kai inhaled sharply, his voice sharp with offense. "A small hit? You ferociously grabbed and hit my manhood! I was moments away from not being a man anymore because of you. You almost fucking made me barren!!!"
Cass gave him a flat look. "If you hadn't tried to rape me, I wouldn't have done that. So it's your fault."
Kai's lips curled. "Hah. Although I wanted your hands… but not in that way. In another, more pleasing way."
Cass pounced. "Hah so you do agree you tried to rape me, huh?"
Kai's instinctive answer nearly slipped out but he froze, suspicion flashing in his eyes. Cass showing up here? Unlikely. Cass, who hated him, wouldn't just visit. Which meant… he had a motive. And judging by his questions, Kai could guess exactly what it was. Dean must have told him.
So he shifted instantly. "Nope. I never agreed. How can I agree to something I didn't do? Of course, it's understandable you feel attracted to me, to want to sleep with me. But your actions? Those are not understandable."
Cass's jaw clenched. His fist twitched with the urge to punch this bastard. How did he twist it around so quickly? It was as if he already knew why Cass had come.
Wait. Only Rin and the Dean knew about his three-day task. Rin wouldn't betray him…
The Dean.
The fucking Dean must be working with Kai!
Cass's chest tightened as the realization sank in. Oh fuck. Things just got harder.
"Me? Wanting to sleep with you?" Cass snapped, his disgust spilling. "For God's sake, have you even looked at yourself in the mirror? I feel like puking every time I see you."
Kai stiffened at the insult, offense flashing in his eyes before he quickly forced himself calm again. No. He couldn't let Cass win. "But you trying to forcefully rape me in the dungeon says otherwise, if your claim is true."
This bastard!!!
"Drop the act! It was you who fucking tried to rape me!" Cass exploded.
Kai only leaned forward with false composure. "Are you trying to force me to accept that I tried to rape you, Cass? Just accept and atone for your wrongdoing." His confidence was infuriating.
Cass wanted to give up. Every question, every tactic nothing worked. Kai was too careful. Too damn tight-lipped. This bastard was hell-bent on his downfall.
Still, giving up wasn't in his blood. Not Cass. He pushed and pushed, throwing every tactic he could think of at Kai. But Kai never slipped. Not once.
By the time night fell, Cass dragged himself back to his dorm in defeat, sulking.
One full day. Wasted. No results.
But even as he collapsed into his bed, frustration clawing at him, his mind was already racing. Already sharpening. Already plotting.
Tomorrow, he would try again.
