Ah… As you can already tell by the title, I don't really need to explain much, right? I'm putting this work on hiatus.
It's so incredibly sad. This story is my baby. I've never written anything before that made me feel this proud, but I can't keep sugarcoating it or trying to push it forward anymore—at least not in my current creative state.
To give you a deeper explanation, I ended up making a huge, terrible mistake with the entire second arc and its consequences. It was never supposed to go down like that.
I remember perfectly when I was writing the chapter that started all of this. Luki and Lili, right after meeting for the first time, were about to head back to the surface when—shine—a magic teleportation circle suddenly appeared under their feet. I hadn't planned that at all. It was just a random joke in my head, an intrusive thought that I impulsively decided to actually write down.
That single moment accelerated a part of the story so much that it can't be fixed anymore. The protagonist became far too powerful, and the power creep completely broke the balance. There is no thrill left in anything. It feels like the story turned into a slice-of-life about an overpowered character who has no enemies left.
I know that, canonically, threats still exist. Especially since I modified the Dungeon to add some originality. But the protagonist has way more strength than it seems. His plot armor is just too thick to suddenly pull a Kakashi or Pikachu move and have him lose to a weaker opponent just for the sake of it.
I'm just so sad and down about this, seriously. Everything was going so well, but it reached a point where I just couldn't find the willpower to write anymore. Reader engagement dropped, and my reliance on AI to generate ideas instead of actually thinking through the chapters and their future consequences increased a lot. The story just feels like it's going nowhere.
So, it is with a really heavy heart that I am aborting this project for now. Man, this hurts so bad. There was so much I still wanted to do, but I just can't find a way to naturally reach those points anymore.
The romance with Eina, Loki, Asfi, Hephaestus, Bell, and Tiona. The new armor sets, the protagonist's magic abilities, the return of Hestia...
Here is a huge spoiler for anyone who wants to read it: As I mentioned before, the protagonist is a creature of chaos, share the same lineage as the gods. There was supposed to be an arc where everything goes horribly wrong, the protagonist goes completely bloodshot, and he literally kills a god—erasing them from existence permanently. I wanted to explore the absolute chaos it would cause in divine society for a mortal to permanently kill one of them.
But I just can't find the strength to write and crawl out of the mud I've stuck myself in to reach those good parts. So, yeah...
...Hiatus, it is.
I'm leaving the final status of the story below. You guys know how much I love showing our progress at the end of every arc, so let's keep this here as a final memory. Until I feel the spark to write again, or until I manage to fix things by pre-writing dozens of chapters to resolve this mess and finally post them.
