Chapter 6 - Threads of Jealousy

Prince Fayro traveled with a number of royal guards to the Kingdom of the Fairies—specifically, the Water Fairies, known for their enchanting beauty and their unique ability to control water, which made their kingdom one of the greatest and wealthiest of all.

In the grand marketplace, Fayro purchased rare horses, pieces of gold, and shimmering aquatic-themed artifacts and vessels, intending to sell them later in the markets of his own kingdom.

But the trip did not go without incident. Princess Lyras, the princess of the fairy kingdom, was suddenly attacked while roaming the streets. Without hesitation, the prince bravely rushed to protect her and managed to save her skillfully—earning the admiration of all, especially the princess herself, who clearly seemed to fall for him.

The king invited him and his guards to a lavish banquet in their honor, and promised a future alliance between the two kingdoms. A few days later, Prince Fayro returned to the Kingdom of Nairo loaded with riches: gold, gifts, and rare aquatic stones.

At the palace gates, he was welcomed joyfully by the king, Dalerina, and Nazar, who all embraced him warmly and expressed their relief. Only the queen was absent, citing illness—though everyone knew well of her coldness toward him.

Days passed, and the king received a sealed royal letter from the fairy kingdom expressing a desire to solidify relations, with a subtle hint at a marriage proposal. The king gladly accepted, and preparations began to welcome the delegation.

On a bright morning, a grand caravan from the Kingdom of the Fairies arrived, led by the king, his wife, and Princess Lyras, accompanied by guards, lavish gifts, food, and precious stones. The King of Nairo received them with great hospitality, and celebrations filled the palace.

But the real surprise came when the Fairy King asked for his daughter's hand in marriage to Prince Fayro.

King Nairo smiled and gave his initial approval, but the prince shocked everyone by saying:

"I'm sorry… my heart belongs to someone else."

A heavy silence fell. Faces froze. All eyes turned to Nazar. The prince didn't say a name—but the suspicion in her heart turned to certainty.

The king graciously accepted his decision, but inside, Nazar boiled with rage. She knew exactly whom the prince meant.

After the banquet, Nazar approached the princess and said with a fake smile:

"Come, I'll show you the palace."

During the tour, she whispered:

"Do you know who the prince loves? A girl named Dalerina… a thief, poor, her mother was a dumb farm worker who used to serve in the palace. Imagine!"

Anger lit up in Lyras' eyes, mixed with jealousy.

At that moment, Nazar crafted a wicked scheme: she ordered one of the servants to hide some of the visiting guests' gold inside Dalerina's wardrobe.

The next day, the princess declared in court:

"Some gold is missing..."

Dalerina had seen that same servant sneaking near her room late at night. She had ignored it at the time—but once the accusation came, she realized something vile was in motion.

Nazar sneered:

"Dalerina?! Who else? A greedy, poor girl—what do you expect from her?"

She ordered her room to be searched… and indeed, the gold was found inside.

Fayro immediately stood up, angered, and faced everyone:

"Enough! I won't allow anyone to be accused—especially not Dalerina. We know her well… she was raised among us. I'll uncover the truth and prove her innocence myself."

Nazar looked down, then at Lyras. Their eyes met in a silent stare filled with hatred.

The threads of the plot began to unravel—but the fire still simmered beneath the ashes…
