"Arya, you have to see something!" Pete said to her while she went to visit Kimberly in hospital.
He gave her Kimberly's phone. "Last photo taken."
Arya took her Mobile and opened the picture gallery. There was a photo of a frail looking something, or someone.
She looked closely and saw that it was a girl, with tattered clothes; clothes that she recognized.
"Where was this....?"
"The prison. She was asking for you."
Pete examined her face. "You know her?"
Arya nodded her head. Guilt filled her eyes, and fury quickly took over. She recognized the clothes, or what little clothes were left.
"Uncle Pete, I need to go," She said, handing him the phone back after sending the photo to her own phone.
"But Arya...?"
"Update me on Aunt Kim." With that, she was gone.
Alfa was sitting in his office, going through files. He had been busy lately, as the accountant hadn't shown up.
It had been two days since they got to know about William. No one had seen him ever since.
His gamma, the number one tracker of the pack, hadn't even found a fur of William. That's what scared him; what if he strikes again, and they're not ready?
He took in a deep breath, and he sensed his mate. Her scent, the smell of wildflowers and cinnamon, drifted in through the door, with the scent of anger. She was furious, and he braced himself for what was to come.
Sure enough, Arya burst through the door, face red with anger.
"Why did you never let me visit the prison?" She asked before he could say anything.
"What do you mean?" Alfa asked, genuinely confused.
"Whenever I asked you to let me see Rebecca, you refused. Even when I asked you to see my cousins, you refused. Why?" She said, staring him straight in his deep blue eyes.
As an alfa of the pack, anyone looking at him in his eye would mean a threat. But Arya was an exception since she was his mate, his luna.
"Because we have all sorts of creatures down there, and I don't want you to get exposed to all the torture that happens there. You might be a wolf, but you still have a human heart. A soft heart. You won't be able to see all that," Alfa explained, but Arya's anger did not subside.
"Oh, really? Then tell me, what kind of dangerous creature is this," Arya said, showing him a photo from her phone.
"I don't see your point." Now Alfa was getting annoyed.
The photo or picture of whatever the hell it was didn't make any sense. It only looked like someone's corpse. But why was his mate interested in this piece of shit?
Arya clenched her teeth as she walked away, pulling the door shut so loudly, the entire office rattled.
It was definitely no use talking to Alfa because he wouldn't understand. She will have to get into the prison, even if it meant breaking in.
The fury within her was boiling over, and anyone who stood in her way would pay.
God knows how many times she had begged him to allow her to go in the prison to talk to Rebecca, but never once did he allow her.
God knows how many times she needed her friend, but couldn't even talk to her or see her. Now she understood why.
"Luna," the prison guard said, bowing. This brought her out of her thoughts.
"Open the gate."
"But luna -" "Now!!!" Aryas scream reverberated through the side building.
The guard shook like a leaf in the wind. His Luna's anger radiating to him.
"The alfa... " "To hell with your alfa. If you don't open the gate, I'll challenge you to a fight. I know I won't win, and when you win, Alfa himself will kill you because you would have hit your luna, or worst, killed her," Arya said, staring him dead in the eye.
The guard was now mindlinking Alfa because his eyes were glowing. Arya knew that he'd have to come down here.
Arya is a zoologist by profession. Or at least, was one, and she knew how wolves behaved in the wild.
The alfa was on top of the hierarchy, and his mate was his equal. Though this may not be real wolves, this system works here as well.
She knows well enough that if anything happens to her, Alfa won't be able to live. His wolf would never allow him to have another mate.
'Aria, where are you?' Came the long awaited mindlink.
'Just tell your damn guard to open this damn gate before I start breaking it with his damn head.'
Arya's anger and frustration penetrated through the mindlink, and Alfa knew something was very wrong.
'Wait; I'm on my way!'
Finally.
Alfa was sitting at his desk, filing papers, when a very frantic mindlink came through, 'Alfa, the Luna wants to enter the prison, and she threatened me into a duel if I refused. What should I do?'
"Where is she?'
'Standing in front of me! She seems very angry.' Blake replied, his fear reached alfa through the link they shared.
Cutting off the link, Alfa sat there thinking. Why was she doing this? Even when she had entered his office, she was angry. When she went out, the door hinges met her fury. Now she was at the prison threatening his guard! What the hell happened to her? Was this William's doing?
'Aria, where are you?' He mindlinked her, hoping that whatever the guard said was a little prank, though he knew no one would be brave enough to prank him, except for Ronald, that is.
'Just tell your damn guard to open this damn gate before I start breaking it with his damn head.' The attitude in which she said that was too much, even for the luna. Her anger was increasing every passing second, and Alfa knew he had to be there, so all his men lived.
'Wait; I'm on my way!'
He arrived within minutes and saw the guard cowering in a corner, and Arya paced back and forth, clenching her teeth.
"Aria! What's going on?"
Arya turned her head towards his voice and stopped pacing. "I want to go in!" She said.
"Why?" Alfa asked, looking into her blue eyes, trying to make sense of what was so special about that piece of bone that lay there.
"Alfa, please just let me in," Arya tried to calm her voice. She hoped Alfa would stop with his interrogation and let her in.
"Why?"
Of course, he wouldn't.
"You'll see."
"Blake, open the gate," Alfa said, still looking at Arya.
