The next morning, Rowen finished his breakfast, which consisted of freshly harvested potatoes, before opening the Evergreen Shop as usual. After turning the sign on the front door from Closed to Open, he was about to head back inside when he suddenly felt someone gently tug on his sleeve.
Turning around, Rowen saw a young girl standing quietly behind him. She was about the same height as him, and the clothes she wore were dirty and torn in several places, as though she hadn't changed them for a long time. Her long black hair covered part of her face, while a pair of crimson-red eyes quietly looked at him.
Seeing those eyes, Rowen couldn't help but remember the days after his grandfather passed away. Back then, he had lost the only family he had left in this world, and his eyes had been just as empty. If Finn hadn't stayed by his side during that difficult time, Rowen didn't know whether he would have been able to recover.
