Chapter 10 - Chapter 7: The Voice That Ignites

Morning came slowly aboard the Crimson Raiju.

The sea was calm. Pale sunlight spilled across the deck, warming the demonwood beneath Kael's bare feet. The crimson sails hung loosely from the masts, swaying whenever the breeze touched them.

For the first time since leaving Foosha Village, the crew had no immediate crisis. No Pirates. No exploding ships. Just the sea… and three people trying to figure out what they were becoming.

Kael actually liked it.

He had spent so much of his life surrounded by noise that quiet had once felt wrong. Now it felt like breathing.

He made his way down the corridor toward his captain's quarters. The ship creaked softly beneath him, a sound that had become familiar, almost comforting. Kael opened the door.

His eyes immediately settled on the desk.

The Rare Treasure Chest remained where he'd left it. Dark metal bands wrapped around the ornate wooden body. Ancient pirate runes covered the lid, their grooves glowing with a faint crimson light.

Kael pulled out the chair and sat.

"Alright. You've been sitting here long enough."

He flipped the latch.

Click.

Warm golden light filled the room. Four cards rose from inside.

Kael's eyebrows rose in surprise.

"Four?"

A familiar chime answered him.

[RARE TREASURE CHEST OPENED]

[Chest Standard: 4 Reward Cards.]

[Guaranteed Cash Bonus: 20,000 Belly.]

[Reward Quality: Rare or Higher.]

A pouch materialized beside the chest. Kael caught it. Coins clinked inside.

"Not bad."

The first card floated forward. A detailed cannon covered its face, blue lightning curling around the barrel. Kael touched it. The card dissolved into an intricate blueprint.

[REWARD CARD ONE]

[Thunderstrike Battery Blueprint]

Classification: Advanced Naval Weapon System

Function: Allows compatible cannons to channel electrical energy through specialized ammunition.

Installation Requirements:

Master Shipwright

Reinforced Weapon Mounts

Insulated Power Channels

Specialized Ammunition

Kael's grin sharpened.

"Oh, that's going to be nasty. I wonder if I can supercharge it with lightning?"

The second card floated forward.

A black scroll covered in faint gold writing.

[REWARD CARD TWO]

[Basic Armament Haki Training Manual]

Classification: Combat Training

Function: Provides foundational instruction for hardening the body and weapon through Haki.

Mastery requires physical training and repeated application.

"Now we're talking." Kael's grin widened. "I can make sure every crewmate at least has a grasp of Observation and Armament."

He'd already had a basic understanding of Haki.

But a basic understanding wasn't going to be enough.

If he wanted to protect his family...

He needed more if he wanted to change the future where he saw Ace die.

The third card appeared, heavy, almost unnaturally so. Kael caught it. The image resolved into an ingot.

[REWARD CARD THREE]

[Demonsteel Alloy]

Quantity: 10 Ingots

Classification: Ship Construction Material

Compatible Vessel: Crimson Raiju

Kael let out a low whistle.

"Ten?"

He turned one ingot over in his palm. The metal absorbed the room's light. "This'll help."

The final card drifted toward him. The moment his fingers touched the surface, the room changed.

The temperature dropped. He smelled smoke, salt, wet earth, burned wood, and rain. Then laughter, children running. A woman's warm, familiar voice calling his name.

Kael!

His breath stopped. The memory vanished.

The card dissolved, leaving a small amulet shaped like a storm cloud.

Kael stared at it.

[REWARD CARD FOUR]

[Stormheart Amulet]

Origin: Aetheron Island

Status: Damaged

Function: Unknown

Contained Data: Fragmented Environmental Memory

Kael's fingers closed around it. For a moment he wasn't on the Crimson Raiju. He was home. Rain fell hard against rooftops, villagers arguing over market prices, the smell of his mother's cooking, his father's laughter.

Then the memory broke apart.

Kael lowered his head.

"...You're really going to do that to me?"

The System remained silent.

He looked at the amulet again.

Whatever Aetheron had been...

Some fragment of it remained.

Kael tucked the Stormheart Amulet carefully inside his coat.

"I'm keeping you."

A new notification appeared.

[Milestone Achieved: Captain Recognized.]

[System Store Unlocked]

Kael's head lifted.

A massive interface unfolded. Weapons. Training manuals. Ship components. Navigation tools. Medical supplies. Sealed techniques. He scrolled, then stopped as one item caught his eye.

[Rokushiki Combat Manual – 150,000 Belly]

Status: Training Unlock

Mastery: Physical Adaptation Required

Kael smiled. He spent the Belly without hesitation. The manual appeared in his hands. He flipped through the pages. "Now we'll fight smarter."

He placed it beside the Haki scroll.

Then he noticed another tab.

[TERRITORY]

Kael tapped it.

[ACCESS DENIED.]

Requirement: Recognized Territory

Kael leaned back.

"...So you really are making me earn everything."

No response.

His attention shifted to the ship tab.

The Crimson Raiju appeared as a three-dimensional schematic.

The Thunderstrike Battery blueprint was highlighted.

Kael touched it.

[Installation unavailable.]

[Required: Master Shipwright.]

[Required Materials: Incomplete.]

[Required Infrastructure: Incomplete.]

Kael grinned.

"Guess we'll need to find one."

He was beginning to understand the System. It didn't simply hand him a finished legend. It showed him what the legend could become. The rest he had to build himself.

He closed the menu.

A sharp metallic chime immediately replaced it.

His expression hardened.

[ALERT]

[HOSTILE VESSEL DETECTED.]

[ENEMY CAPTAIN: MORGANA]

[BOUNTY: 45,000,000 BELLY]

[THREAT ASSESSMENT: MODERATE]

Kael sighed.

"So much for breakfast."

Yamato stepped onto the main deck with Takeru already in hand.

"What happened?"

Betty followed only seconds behind.

"Something's coming in fast."

Kael pointed toward the sea.

At first, there was nothing.

Then a dark silhouette emerged.

A pirate vessel.

Sleek.

Fast.

Its hull was painted black and violet, its sails dark enough to disappear into the mist.

At its bow stood a woman.

She looked as though she'd stepped out of a debauched fairy tale.

Long lavender hair flowed behind her, fading into soft pink and mint green. Two curved ivory horns rose from her head. Bright blue eyes sparkled with amusement. She wore a waist-length pink kimono decorated with flowers and a broad teal sash. Twin curved daggers hung at her hips, the blades shimmering with a faint pink light.

Morgana smiled… then winked directly at Kael.

Yamato's fingers tightened around Takeru.

Betty noticed, and her lips curled upward.

"This is going to be entertaining."

Morgana stepped onto the rail.

"Well, aren't you a handsome one!" Morgana called.

Kael blinked.

"Me?"

"Who else?"

Kael pointed at himself.

"You crossed half the ocean to flirt with me?"

Morgana laughed.

"I might have."

A sweet fragrance drifted across the water.

A floral perfume with hints of jasmine and something warmer underneath, heavier underneath.

Kael's instincts immediately sharpened.

That wasn't normal perfume.

Morgana lifted one hand.

Pink mist curled around her fingers.

"My Devil Fruit feeds on desire."

Kael's eyes narrowed.

 "Succubus Fruit."

Her smile widened.

"Aren't you a clever one?"

She vanished.

Mist exploded across the water.

"Brace!"

The pink cloud slammed into the Crimson Raiju. Pirates emerged from it like ghosts. Boarding hooks flew. Chains rattled.

Yamato swung Takeru. BOOM! The first attacker was sent over the railing with a wet crack. Another charged from behind. She spun. CRACK! Her kanabō broke his jaw.

Betty planted her flag into the deck.

"Thundering Dawn!"

Her voice rang through the ship. Any tension in the crew vanished. Confidence surged. Even Kael felt the shift. Betty's Devil Fruit didn't simply strengthen bodies; it changed the emotional temperature of a battle.

Kael grinned.

"Good."

Purple-black scales raced across his shoulders. Mist poured from his skin. Lightning crawled across his claws as his Storm Dragon hybrid form awakened.

[Hebi Hebi no Mi: Kuraokami – Hybrid Form]

Kael launched himself forward like a stray lightning bolt.

"Thunder Pulse!"

Compressed lightning exploded from his palm. Morgana dissolved into mist. The attack passed through her.

Kael landed.

"...Annoying."

A warm breath touched his ear.

"Looking for me?"

Morgana reappeared behind him.

Kael spun.

She tapped his shoulder with one dagger.

"Too slow."

She vanished again.

Kael growled.

Yamato landed beside him.

"What is she?"

"Logia."

Yamato's smile sharpened.

"Then we hit harder."

She charged.

Morgana reformed atop the mast.

 "Raimei Hakke!"

Yamato's kanabō crashed down.

Morgana turned to mist.

The attack obliterated the mast instead.

Wood exploded.

Splinters rained across the deck.

Morgana reappeared in the air, laughing. "Your girlfriend hits hard. You can really tell she's Kaido's child."

Yamato's face turned beet red.

"I'm not his girlfriend!"

Kael shouted simultaneously:

"She's not my girlfriend!"

Betty looked between them, clearly entertained.

"…Interesting."

"Looks like the two towering Oni are in love."

"Don't," Yamato warned.

Betty smiled innocently.

"I didn't say anything."

Morgana laughed.

"Oh, this is precious."

Yamato's eye twitched.

"Captain."

Kael looked at her.

"Yeah?"

"Can I hit her?"

Kael grinned.

"By all means, hit her with your hardest attack."

Yamato launched upward. Morgana disappeared into mist again and again. Each time Yamato struck, the mist simply parted. Then Morgana reappeared behind her.

"Too predictable."

Pink energy flashed.

Yamato blocked with Takeru.

The impact sent her sliding across the deck.

Kael's wings snapped outward. He flew. Morgana's eyes widened as he reached her. Fenrir came down. Her body became mist as the blade passed through, but Kael had anticipated it. He twisted. His tail wrapped around her ankle.

Morgana gasped. Kael dragged her from the air. Fenrir's blackened edge (Armament Haki) flashed. Blood appeared across her shoulder.

Morgana stared at the cut, then smiled.

"...Haki."

Kael landed.

"You figured that out?"

"You're not as simple as you look."

"Neither are you."

The fog thickened.

Morgana raised both hands.

The perfume became overwhelming.

The entire deck filled with pink mist.

Kael's vision blurred. His heartbeat quickened. Images flashed of Aetheron, his mother, his father, Ace, Luffy, Yamato. A life where he was married to Nami and Nojiko. A home that existed exactly as he remembered it. Everyone alive. Everyone smiling.

Kael's grip tightened around Fenrir.

No.

Trap.

The hallucination broke.

He roared. Lightning erupted around his body. "GET OUT OF MY HEAD!"

The storm exploded. The mist scattered. Morgana barely escaped as her ship's sails caught the wind.

She laughed as she retreated.

"You're more interesting than I expected, Storm Dragon!"

Kael stood at the bow.

"I'll remember you!"

Morgana winked.

"I certainly hope so, handsome!"

Yamato walked up beside him.

Her expression was dark.

"She flirts too much."

Kael glanced sideways.

"You jealous?"

"No."

Betty walked past them.

"She absolutely is."

"Betty!"

Betty laughed.

The two ships separated.

Morgana's vessel disappeared into the mist.

Kael sighed.

"Next time..."

He looked at Fenrir.

"...we finish it."

The Crimson Raiju returned to quiet waters.

Kael and the others boarded the abandoned supply vessel Morgana had left behind.

Betty opened a storage chest.

"...Not bad."

The hold contained medicine.

Spices.

Navigation charts.

Replacement sailcloth.

Seastone-tipped ammunition.

A few weapon crates.

And a locked box containing Belly.

Kael raised one hand.

"System."

The entire vessel shimmered.

[Salvage Protocol Activated]

Everything disappeared.

The System deposited the salvaged material directly into Kael's inventory.

He opened the list.

[Inventory Updated.]

High-Grade Medicine × 8

• Rare Spices × 6 Crates

• East Blue Navigation Charts

• Grand Line Navigation Charts × 3

• Replacement Sailcloth × 11 Bundles

• Seastone-Tipped Ammunition × 2 Crates

• Pink Crystal Dagger Sheaths

• Desire-Based Logia Research Journal

• 87,000 Belly

Kael smiled.

"Every battle makes us a little richer."

Betty folded her arms.

"That's an unhealthy way to justify piracy."

Kael looked offended.

"We're bounty hunters."

Betty stared at him.

"...Right."

Yamato laughed.

Then the System tone changed.

The sound wasn't its normal chime.

It was deeper.

Heavier.

Wrong.

Kael's smile disappeared.

[WARNING]

[CROSS-VERSE SUMMON INITIATED.]

[ANOMALY MANIFESTATION DETECTED.]

[PENALTY APPLIED.]

[PHYSICAL OUTPUT REDUCED BY 50% FOR 24 HOURS.]

[RECOVERY SUPPRESSED DURING ACTIVE COMBAT.]

Kael's knees buckled.

His strength vanished.

His breath caught.

"Shit!"

"What's happening to me?"

Yamato grabbed his arm.

"Captain!"

Kael clenched his teeth.

"System..."

The system remained silent.

"Now?!"

A sound like tearing silk echoed across the deck. Reality split not into a clean circle, but a wound. Dark ether crawled through the tear. The air tasted like burnt ozone and blood. The sea stopped moving.

Then someone stumbled through.

A woman.

Long blonde hair.

Tired eyes.

Battle-worn clothing.

She looked at the ship.

At the sea.

At Kael.

At Yamato.

At Betty.

Then she ignored all of it.

Her eyes went immediately to their injuries.

"Who needs treatment?"

Kael blinked.

"...What?"

She stepped toward Yamato and touched her shoulder. "Bruising. Nothing broken." Then Betty. "Minor cuts." Then Kael. Her expression changed. "…You're the worst."

Kael smiled weakly.

"Nice to meet you."

She glared.

"Sit down."

"I can stand."

"You're shaking."

"I'm fine."

"You've got a fifty percent reduction in physical output, don't you?"

Kael froze.

Yamato blinked.

Betty stared.

The woman frowned.

"Don't look at me like that."

Kael pointed at her.

"How did you know that?"

She rubbed her temple.

"I don't know."

A System window appeared.

[Cross-Verse Anomaly Confirmed]

[IDENTITY: TSUNADE SENJU.]

[ORIGIN: UNKNOWN REALITY.]

[MANIFESTATION: TEMPORARY.]

[CORE SUMMON SLOT: NOT CONSUMED.]

[BASIC WORLD KNOWLEDGE PACKAGE DELIVERED.]

Tsunade frowned as new information pressed into her thoughts. "Devil Fruits… Haki… Grand Line… What kind of world is this?"

Kael gave a tired laugh. "That's a long story."

Tsunade crossed her arms. "I have time."

By midday, the Crimson Raiju had changed course.

Baratie.

The floating restaurant appeared ahead beneath the bright sky.

The smell reached them before they docked.

Garlic.

Butter.

Grilled fish.

Herbs.

Bread.

Tsunade's stomach growled.

She immediately looked annoyed.

Kael grinned.

"Good."

Yamato laughed.

"Finally, someone else."

Betty nodded.

"We should probably eat before the System drops another problem on us."

Kael groaned.

"Don't say that."

Baratie

The moment they stepped aboard, chaos greeted them.

Chefs shouted.

Knives clattered.

Waiters rushed past.

The smell of fresh food filled the air.

Then a familiar voice boomed across the restaurant.

"Well, I'll be damned."

Kael looked over.

Zeff stood watching him.

His eyebrows rose when he saw the horns.

Then the sword.

Then Yamato.

Betty.

Tsunade.

Zeff laughed.

"Well, I'll be damned. Another D. with a storm in his wake."

Kael grinned. "We need food and wine for my crew."

Zeff pointed a finger at him.

"You're paying."

Kael sighed.

"I'll leave enough to cover my brother's old tab too."

Zeff barked a gale-force laugh.

"Damn right you will. That kid never paid a single beri."

He eyed Yamato, Betty, and Tsunade with open curiosity.

They were seated in a private room.

Tsunade immediately ordered something strong.

Kael watched her.

"You drink like Garp."

She raised an eyebrow.

"Who's Garp?"

"My grandfather."

"Then your grandfather has good taste."

Yamato laughed.

Betty shook her head.

Tsunade took another drink.

"Now."

She pointed toward Kael.

"Would you three mind telling me about this strange world?"

Kael explained the split races and some of the fighting styles. Tsunade set down her drink.

"What the hell is a Devil Fruit?"

Yamato took over.

Logia, Zoan, and Paramecia."

Tsunade listened carefully.

"Logia gives elemental powers?"

"Usually."

"Zoan allows transformation?"

"Yes."

"Paramecia does everything else?"

"More or less."

Tsunade looked at Kael.

"You can turn into a dragon."

"Yeah."

"You ate something that gave you that ability."

"Yep."

She stared at him.

"That is the stupidest medical explanation I've ever heard."

Kael laughed.

Betty explained Haki.

Observation.

Armament.

Conqueror's.

Tsunade listened quietly.

Eventually she looked toward Yamato.

"And you?"

Yamato smiled.

"I'm an Oni."

Tsunade looked toward Kael.

"And him?"

"Oni too."

Tsunade nodded slowly.

"Two Oni."

She looked toward Betty.

"One Revolutionary."

Then herself.

"And a doctor."

Kael grinned.

"You're catching on."

Tsunade sighed.

"I think I've been kidnapped."

"Technically..."

Kael scratched his cheek.

"...summoned."

"That distinction isn't helping."

Towards the end of dinner, the conversation turned practical.

"Loguetown is still our top priority," Kael said, cutting into a thick steak. "We need a master shipwright, cannons, and whatever information we can dig up about that sealed summons the System is hiding."

Betty leaned forward. "I can reach out to a few Revolutionary contacts there. Quietly. Dragon doesn't need to know every move I make… yet."

Yamato nodded. "And the blacksmith? The System's task mentioned a legendary one."

"That's next," Kael said. "We establish a port base, recruit the blacksmith, and push the Crimson Raiju to Tier II. After that…" He looked toward the window. "We start carving our own path through the Grand Line."

Tsunade set down her cup. "You're building an entire operation with three people and a temporary doctor."

Kael grinned. "Four people. And we're just getting started."

By the time they reboarded the ship, a light rain was falling overhead.

It tapped softly against the Crimson Raiju as the ship sailed beneath a darkening sky.

Tsunade examined the medical supplies she'd salvaged.

Betty worked through Morgana's and Carnus's navigation charts.

She added everything to the maps they had and the ones they looted from Carnus's ship.

Kael sat near the stern.

Yamato joined him.

Her hair was damp from the rain.

She sat beside him.

For a while...

Neither spoke.

Then Yamato sighed.

"I didn't like seeing her flirt with you."

Kael looked at her.

"You were definitely jealous."

"I was not."

"You were."

Yamato's cheeks warmed.

"I was angry."

"Because she flirted with me."

Her cheeks warmed. "...Maybe."

Kael grinned.

"You're cute when you're jealous."

Yamato's face turned bright red.

"You are impossible."

"I've been told."

She punched him in the shoulder. Kael barely moved, then smiled.

"You know… I wasn't interested in her."

Yamato looked at him. "Why?"

Kael shrugged, glancing at her. "Because I've already got enough trouble with you."

She stared at him, then laughed. Her shoulder touched his. Neither moved away.

Inside the ship, Betty noticed through the doorway. She smiled and quietly closed it again.

The next morning...

A News Coo landed on the deck.

Kael picked up the newspaper.

Fresh bounty notices covered the front page.

Yamato leaned beside him.

Betty joined them.

Tsunade held a cup of coffee.

Kael scanned the notices.

Monkey D. Luffy – 30,000,000 Belly

(Defeated Arlong. Liberated Cocoyashi Village.)

His expression hardened as he read about what Arlong did to Nami and Nojiko's new home.

Portgas D. Ace – 550,000,000 Belly (Updated)

(Whitebeard Pirates, 2nd Division Commander. Continues to expand influence across the New World.)

Kael's expression softened for a moment.

Then the System chimed.

[NEW MAJOR TASK UNLOCKED.]

Task: The First Court

Objective 1: Recruit a Legendary Blacksmith.

Objective 2: Establish a recognized Port Base.

Objective 3: Gather materials necessary for Crimson Raiju Tier II.

Reward: Crimson Raiju Ship Upgrade Tier II, Hidden Training Manual, Rare Weapon Summoning Token

Kael stared at the notification.

Then at the ship.

Then toward the horizon.

A grin slowly spread across his face.

"So..."

Yamato smiled.

"What's next?"

Kael rested a hand against Fenrir.

"We find our blacksmith."

Betty folded the newspaper.

"Then?"

Kael's eyes gleamed.

"We build our port."

Tsunade raised an eyebrow.

"And after that?"

Kael pointed toward the horizon.

"Loguetown."

The crimson sails filled with wind.

The Crimson Raiju surged forward.

Kael's voice rang across the deck.

"Let's carve our legend."

The ship raced toward the horizon.

Behind them, the sea closed over the path they'd traveled. Ahead waited Loguetown, a legendary blacksmith, a future port, a stronger ship, and somewhere beyond the veil between worlds, the mystery behind the sealed summon remained.

Watching.

Waiting.

Perhaps laughing.

Kael narrowed his eyes.

"...ROB."

The wind answered.

The Crimson Raiju sailed onward.

And the storm was only beginning.
