"I hope you had a good breakfast ma'am." Rico offered as the window between the front and back of the vehicle was down as they made their way to the United Nations.
"It was pleasant enough with the company. But the food was a bit too bitter." Queen Mera informed him. "When we arrive all three of you will be coming with me. We will watch the actual meeting from a television while we wait for my husband's reveal."
"Okay. Jade and Gearbox, be ready to surrender your weapons this time. Make sure you get a receipt for them as well." Rico instructed as he pulled out his own weapon. Checking over its condition. He made sure they were all armed this time after the attack at the stadium yesterday. The permits for the weapons were already done; he just did not have the weapons or the carry permits because it was bothersome.
"I heard there was an attack on Aquaman as well. Shortly after that Wayne helicopter took off they were ambushed by several different groups. Even that infamous space bandit Lobo showed up." Gearbox pointed out and looked over at Rico. "Chances are that there will be an attack at the United Nations as well."
"I know." Rico answered. "But there will be a lot more targets and guards that we can rely on. We could blend in and sneak away if need be." Once he was done checking his sidearm they arrived at the building and the driver was following some guards directions into an underground garage.
As soon as they entered they were directed to a spot where several guards were kitted out with assault rifles and body armor. Interestingly enough there were several of the Atlantean Royal Guards waiting there as they parked.
As soon as the driver parked, Rico stepped out and walked out the back opening up the door. Queen Mera was the first one out. As she stepped out Rico was shoved by one of the guards who quietly whispered. "Move it surface dweller." It was quiet enough that Queen Mera and no one else could hear it but loud enough that Rico realized he was meant to hear that.
He saw a twinge of annoyance cross Queen Mera's face. "It was unnecessary for my husband to send you. I already have the perfectly capable mercenaries he sent." She informed them as she stepped aside as the 'guards' started looking in the limo and actually took the keys to search the trunk of the limo.
The one in charge gave an innocent smile before bowing slightly and speaking. "Well, the King just wishes to ensure your charity. If you wish to relieve your guards then-"
"They will accompany me inside. It is still their task to protect me until I return to Atlantis." Queen Mera declared. "Now will you escort me to my lounge or will I have to figure that out on my own?"
The guard in charge flinched and then looked over at another guard who was searching the limo. When he shook his head side to side the guard in charge looked back at the Queen. "Please follow me to the Atlantis Lounge."
He then turned around and began leading the way. Almost immediately they fell in line around the queen. Forming up around her in a protective manner. While the Atlantean guards formed an arrow facing from where they came from ,minus the guard leading them. Rico had Gearbox and Jade did the opposite, with Rico following right behind the Atlantean guard that was seemingly in charge.
"When we arrive at the guard station you will be surrendering your weapons." The guard reminded him, causing Rico to roll his eyes.
After walking a few minutes underground they arrived at a pair of heavy duty metal doors and a guard station. One of the UN guards stepped out and waved them down. "We need credentials and to see if you need to surrender your weapons."
Rico pulled out the official documents and handed them to the guard while stepping over to a metal container where he pulled out his sidearm and began dismantling it before placing it in the box. Once he was done, Jade did the same while he walked back around to retrieve the documents from the guard.
"Yeah… you already seem to know that you have to surrender your weapons. But I am surprised about that lethal while unarmed symbol. We do have to have a single guard observing you during your stay here." The guard waved one of his people over.
But the Atlantean guard made a noise of confusion. "What is going on?"
"Mister Bell here along with his entire mercenary unit are classified as Metas. That means we have to have a lethal guard observing them while on any installation. I doubt you have to worry. Mercenary Metas tend to be loyal because their reputation depends on it." The guard explained as he handed Rico back his documents.
Rico walked back to the group and rejoined them. The head Atlantean Guard handed his documents hesitantly. While one of the UN guards walked up and stood next to Rico. Nodding to him. A few minutes later they were all squared away and were walking through the metal doors and to the elevator lobby.
They then split up into two groups with Jade and Gearbox going with the majority of the Atlantean guards and Tula up first. Then the rest of them went up the elevator. They arrived at the right floor and rejoined the rest of their group. They then walked a few more minutes before walking into a rather large lounge where the King of Atlantis along with his new public buddy, Bruce Wayne, were staying.
Rico narrowed his eyes as they made their 'hellos' with some clear tension surrounding the Queen and King. While they did that, Mister Wayne approached Rico and whispered. "I heard you had some issues yesterday. As well, you told Red Robin that the U.S. Army was behind it."
Rico scoffed, "I lied obviously. For their own sake. Whatever game is being played will only get complicated with those teenagers throwing themselves in the middle of it. It was actually the Navy. They picked up several supervillains awhile back and have been keeping it quiet. With the ties they have with King Arthur, I figured it would be dangerous to spout out that information." He quietly whispered back and made sure no one in the room could hear them.
Bruce's eyes lit up in understanding as he glanced between the two royals who seemed to be talking. "Does she know?"
"That her husband is trying to kill her?" Rico asked nonchalantly. "I would say the action is mutual. He got attacked as well, correct?"
Bruce grunted. "This is… bad."
"Yeah… and thanks to you we are both caught in the middle." Rico reminded him before walking away.
