Chapter 99 - Ahmed is drained(part99)

(The water swallowed their bodies all at once, as if the pool had turned into another world without sound. Ahmed sank into the depths, his chest burning from the intensity of the impact and the cold stinging his bones, but his arm remained tightly clasped around Honoka. He did not let the water separate them, even when his vision began to darken around him.)

(Survival instinct pushed his body to move. He moved his legs with difficulty, as if they were weighed down by iron, and rose slowly toward the light dancing above him. With the last bit of air remaining in his lungs, he broke through the water's surface with force, gasping violently.)

(Ahmed coughed heavily, his breath ragged, but his hand did not let go of Honoka. She was still in his arms, her head tilted, her eyes closed, and her body motionless. His heart trembled for a moment, and a cold fear seeped into his chest.)

(From above, the sound of racing footsteps and a stifled cry echoed. Misaki had reached the bottom of the building; she ran toward the pool, her eyes welling with tears. She stopped at the edge for a moment, her body trembling, then quickly leaned over, extending her hands.)

Misaki (with a shaky voice): "Ahmed...!"

(With her help, Ahmed pulled Honoka out of the water. She lay on the cold floor near the pool, water dripping from her hair and clothes. Ahmed's entire body was trembling from the cold and shock, but his eyes never left her face.)

(He leaned over her, placing his ear near her chest, feeling for her pulse with a trembling hand. He breathed a sigh of relief mixed with fear when he felt it... weak, but it was there.)

(He said nothing. He only carried her in his arms with extreme caution, as if she were something precious and breakable. Misaki stood beside him, her steps unsteady, her face pale, and her heart still trapped in the moment of the fall.)

(Under a sky that had begun to lean toward sunset, the three of them left the place in a heavy silence, leaving the school pool behind them, still... as if it were a silent witness to a decision that changed all of their fates.)
