"We've been looking for you," one of the dragon women said, with a warm smile that carried an edge of intensity that put Liam on guard.
Liam studied her carefully, with his expression neutral. "Who are you? What do you want?"
The woman's smile didn't falter. "You shouldn't pretend you don't feel any familiarity toward us. I can sense it, even if it's subtle."
Liam kept his face blank. "What if I say I don't feel such familiarity?"
The second dragon woman's lips curved into a knowing smile. "The feeling might not be strong, considering your uniqueness, but it will still be there. You can't deny the resonance completely."
"I don't feel even the tiniest shred of familiarity toward either of you," Liam said flatly.
Both women's expressions shifted, their smiles fading into matching frowns. The first spoke again, her tone sharper now. "You're lying."
