Under the darkness of Darkskin, the battlefield roared with energy.
Without wasting a second, both sides were ready to destroy each other.
He growled with his eyes full of ember" Whoever let their guard down first would meet their end first".
Ivaan and Jihan were both having a hard time.
At first, Ivaan was slashing every creature effortlessly without facing any difficulty, but as time passed, he started to lose his stamina.
His breathing started to sound uneven. His chest rose and fell in short intervals, and his body began to sweat. His black tied hair was now in a complete mess.
" how much they are…. Is there any end to this . They kept on coming".
His perfectly carved face was drenched in mud and blood.
His majestic attire was now shredded into pieces.
His blade slightly slipped from his hand, but he still tried to hold it firmly , "I can't maintain my grip over the sword forever like this".
" I have to end this soon or otherwise ....".
As a result, he completely forgot about Jihan.
Jihan could not even compete with humans using his bare hands, so his only support was his inherited magic skills.
When he heard Ivaan's voice calling him, he lowered his guard and tried to reach out to help him.
Jihan quickly turned back, and then he realized what mistake he had made. He bit his tongue, and the only words he managed to say were, "Damn… what the…?"
Ivaan was actually in the opposite direction from where Jihan had heard his voice.
Jihan made eye contact with the Nishi Dak. She was smiling, and her sharp canine shone brightly, just like her glowing eyes, which were the only things clearly visible.
Her whole figure was covered, as if she were wrapped in a dark blanket of shadows.
Her long, dry black hair looked like wild bushes by the roadside, giving off a horrible and disturbing aura.
She gently called Jihan's name.
"Jihan… Jihan… come to me.
Why are you standing so far away? I am waiting for you. Come with me… only with me."
She smiled horribly, and Jihan slowly lost consciousness, falling into a hypnotized, almost vegetative state.
Step by step, he began to move toward her.
Many Nishi Daks and Vetalas started surrounding him.
They were all ready to devour Jihan, ready to drag him into the underworld.
All the demons started to leave Ivaan's side. Ivaan slowly began to regain his stamina, but his moment of relief did not last long.
"Are they finally coming to an end? Is this really the last stage…?"
he breathed heavily as he started to turn back. "Ha… what are you saying about betrayal…?"
His face turned darker, and his eyes fell under a deep shadow. "What is this…?"
He ran toward Jihan, who was completely surrounded by Nishi Daks. One of them was sucking his life energy, her black bushy hair entering his mouth.
"What is this flow of energy in that wicked hair…? That is his life energy. At this rate, you are going to die before completing your sentence."
The rest of the Vetalas were still clinging to his skin, competing over who would take him to the underworld.
Ivaan did not stay there doing nothing. He moved faster.
The half-burned leaves under his feet cracked like glass, shattering into pieces.
As he moved, the sand under his feet flew up into the air.
Jihan had fainted. Threads of life energy started to emerge not one, not two… but many, all starting to connect to those who were going to devour him.
Ivaan threw his blade toward the Nishi Dak. It pierced her temple.
She burned in flames, and as a result, Jihan fell to the ground with a heavy thump.
Jihan chuckled, then started to cough, and a stream of blood came from his mouth.
"You might have suffered some major internal injuries." Ivaan knelt beside him, his breath still heavy from the fight.
His brows furrowed slightly as he studied the blood on Jihan's lips.
"You might have suffered some major internal injuries."
While coughing, Jihan answered, still with a faint, plain smile and eyes that had lost their shine.
"There is no time. I have to tell something really important, but it seems your rock head isn't in the mood to listen…".
He coughed again. "Huh." He breathed out, letting out a slight laugh. "Am I dying right now?"
Ivaan shook the blood from his face with his already half-blooded hands.
"It's really bad news, but I have to say ,you are not going to die right now."
Ivaan was still facing upward.
The dark sky seemed to cry in pain, as if at any moment the whole world might burst into tears.
He tried to relax a little. His eyes closed for a second, his shoulders rising slightly as he caught a small breath. The corners of his eyes opened just enough to check the threads.
It looked like a sea of blood, but in solid form, covered with red threads tangled everywhere.
"We have a long way to go," he thought.
"No, we don't have to go that far," Jihan screamed.
"What does that mean?" Ivaan did not understand what Jihan was murmuring."Are you daydreaming, or did something really hit your brain hard?"
Before he could continue, he was shocked by the scene before his eyes. The whole sea of threads vanished ,every thread that had been covering the ground just moments ago.
Under his shoes, a magic circle appeared, and the ground rose with energy.
Anger appeared in his eyes, and he growled, "Stop."
But in reply, the only word that escaped from Jihan's mouth was, "Sorry."
His eyes were filled with sorrow, and his voice was full of pain.
