Chapter 93 - Chapter 93: Speedrun 4

Even though they could all see the exit, that didn't mean Senzo would suddenly just rush through the rest of the corridor.

There could be traps or more ambushes awaiting them near the end, so they just continued jogging through it, all of them staying alert.

It is strange though, they didn't go for the illusion...

That was the one thing Senzo couldn't make sense of; the first time he encountered such a creature, it clearly fell for the illusion, but here they didn't.

Could it be that the ones here are stronger? Or do they have a special way of transmitting information? If that's the case, we should probably prepare for the worst...

If they could share information and learn from each other's mistakes they would be one hell of an enemy.

"Stay alert; I expect another wave like the one we just faced somewhere between here and the exit."

He resolutely stated, clenching his fists. These weird creatures were strong and deadly, and if they had such an insane learning ability, it would be bad to leave any of them alive.

"Understood."

The four horsemen all said it in unison, but Death was the only one that saw Senzo look around more alertly, like he was looking for something.

And promptly decided to send out oblivion pulses in much shorter intervals; instead of every five steps, he was now sending it out at every step, and he had also increased the output.

Better safe than sorry, and we need to pull our own weight as well. he mused.

And as expected, the others also changed their behavior; War was now closely commanding all the spectral warriors.

"Form small units, and surround us!"

Without saying a word, all the spectral warriors suddenly surrounded the five of them in small units of five, the swordsmen and spearmen on the outside and the archers and assassins closer to the center.

Famine and Pest, on the other hand, were overlapping their own abilities with Death's oblivion pulse, hoping to wipe out all the enemies all at once.

Hooh.

Senzo couldn't help but smile a little seeing the four horsemen take the initiative just like that.

He had no idea why but was grateful nonetheless; if his guess was right and those creatures could indeed learn from their brethren's deaths, or they kept evolving and becoming stronger the later they appeared in the dungeon, it was best to exterminate them as swiftly as possible.

"Speed up a little; we're breaking through this thing in one go!" Senzo exclaimed, raising his voice deliberately.

Without a word, they all started running faster, and while they weren't sprinting just yet, they were now running at a solid pace.

The light at the end of the corridor was becoming brighter and brighter, but Senzo didn't have the luxury to care about that.

Because a couple meters after they started speeding up, they were suddenly surrounded by those weird shadow-like creatures once more.

This time, however, they didn't try to ambush them and instead deliberately showed themselves floating in the void.

"!?"

Alarmed, Senzo and the others all suddenly stopped running and were staring at the creatures.

"What do you think, Death?"

"It looks like trouble to me," Death replied, tightly grasping his scythe.

It was rather strange to see monsters that had relied on ambushes the previous times deliberately show themselves.

"Do it!" Senzo ordered suddenly.

The next instant, Pest, Famine, and Death all perfectly merged their abilities to send out a weird gray-like substance that looked like neither a liquid nor a gas; it was very bizarre.

"Attack!"

Senzo didn't have time to try and figure out how or why these guys kept changing their approach; he needed to just crush them right now.

"Heh!"

War and the spectral warriors rushed out without hesitation, jumping off the ground into the void. Senzo could only roll his eyes while trying his best to form platforms for all of them.

He had no idea why War would suddenly charge in like that, but he couldn't do anything about it right now.

Tsk, I should've told him more clearly, I guess...

While he was grumbling about their reckless behavior, he was also constantly forming and destroying invisible platforms.

And sometimes he even crushed a monster here and there, but the killing was mostly done by the four horsemen and the spectral warriors.

With the cooperation of all of them, the shadow creatures were completely powerless; Senzo could clearly see that their movements were extremely sluggish and strained.

And on others they simply liquefied or fell down, without the tiniest amount of life in them anymore.

That weird gray cloud-like thing was extremely effective against the enemies.

A couple minutes later War and all the spectral warriors also returned to the corridor, and Senzo could heave a sigh of relief.

Even though it was very overwhelming, he had successfully supported all sides. Not bad at all.

He was rather satisfied with his own work; of course, a lot could still be improved, like being more concise and clearer with his orders, but the result was more than satisfactory.

"Good work. Now let's quickly make it out of this damn corridor!"

Like that, Senzo and the others quickly made their way toward the exit, without leaving a simple opening for any ambushes or traps.

In the front were all the spectral warriors who formed straight lines so they would trigger any and all traps that could possibly be hidden on the floor; after them was Senzo in the middle of the four horsemen.

With Death still sending oblivion pulses into the ground every step they took.

"Looks like that's all," Senzo muttered, as they approached the exit, that weird feeling of being watched had vanished after the second ambush.

"It might be; it might also not be. Don't be complacent," War reminded him.

When Senzo heard that, he couldn't help but raise an eyebrow while staring at his giant armor.

"True, thanks for the reminder, War."

War silently nodded his head.

Death and the other two could only smile; even though he might look like that, he was actually a pretty good guy deep down.

"!!"

Then the floor beneath their feet just vanished out of nowhere.

Luckily, Senzo had been alert and could catch everyone by creating a new invisible floor.

"What the hell?" he said, as cold sweat dripped down his forehead.
