The corridor of the city's most prestigious hotel was completely silent. Sofia adjusted the thin silk of her dress. Perhaps it was a little too daring for meeting Viktor—but tonight, she didn't care. Her heart was pounding fast.
VIP Room 404.
She stood at the door for a few seconds in hesitation. Viktor was not only a powerful businessman—he was also her brother-in-law. But the silent signals exchanged between them over the past few months had led to this very moment.
Sofia knocked softly.
A few seconds later, the door opened. Dim blue light spilled from inside. Viktor stood there in an expensive white shirt, the top two buttons undone. A strange spark flashed in his eyes when he saw her.
"I knew you would come, Sofia," he whispered. "But I'm honestly impressed by your courage."
As soon as Sofia stepped inside, Viktor locked the door. She turned to face him directly.
"If I didn't have courage, I wouldn't be here tonight. You know very well what would happen if my sister found out."
Viktor smiled—a smile without fear. He stepped closer.
"You started this game fully aware of the risks. Now tell me, why are you here? Just to see me… or do you have a demand?"
The moment Dimitri's name came up, the atmosphere inside the room shifted.
Viktor's smile faded slightly. He placed the glass in his hand on the table. Sofia kept staring at him—her eyes full of questions and tension.
"When will my wedding with Dimitri happen?" she asked. "You were the one who promised to arrange everything."
Viktor walked toward the window curtains and looked out at the dark city.
"Dimitri is a dangerous man, Sofia," he said with a sigh. "He is less your lover and more my business partner. Bringing your wedding date forward would be like digging my own grave."
Sofia quickly stepped in front of him. Her voice hardened.
"So you're afraid to hand me over to Dimitri? Or… you don't want this marriage to happen? Have you forgotten how obsessed he is with me?"
Viktor leaned closer and spoke in a low voice.
"He is obsessed, yes. But he follows no rules. And once this marriage happens, my claim over you will be gone forever. Do you think I can allow that?"
Sofia froze. She understood now—Viktor was less interested in protecting her from Dimitri and more interested in keeping her for himself. But she also knew Dimitri wouldn't wait much longer.
The moment Sofia uttered the word "agent," Viktor's jaw tightened. He paused for a second, then let out a cold, mocking laugh.
"Agent Sofia… that sounds nice," he said. "Did you really think I didn't know who you were behind that delicate dress and those innocent eyes? Your file reached my desk long before you stepped into this VIP room."
Sofia didn't move an inch. Her hand slowly tightened around the grip of the small pistol hidden under her dress.
"You are the biggest mafia lord in this city," she said calmly, "and Dimitri is the strongest boss in that empire. Your rivalry is turning the city into hell. I came to ask you one thing—do you want to remove Dimitri and rule alone, or do you want to die at his hands? Because my agency has orders to eliminate one of you."
Viktor lit an expensive cigarette and exhaled smoke slowly.
"You brought Dimitri into this conversation as a bargaining tool, Sofia. You know I like you, and you're using that as your shield. But remember—mafia lords value calculation over emotion."
Sofia stepped closer. Her eyes were now razor sharp.
"I came here to calculate. My marriage drama with Dimitri was staged to get close to him. Now you decide will you join hands with me… or will you lie in the same grave as your beloved Dimitri?"
Silence filled the room.
Somewhere far away, the faint sound of police sirens echoed through the night. As soon as it was revealed that Sofia's own sister was the true mastermind behind this chessboard, the entire equation changed.
Viktor leaned back into the sofa, a strange satisfaction flickering in his eyes.
"You speak of being an agent, Sofia," he said slowly, "but you've failed to manage your own home. Your elder sister being a CIA undercover mafia queen—perhaps that isn't in your agency's files. She is the one who wants this relationship between us to happen. Because when a mafia lord and a mafia boss are tied by blood, the entire city's leash will rest in her hands."
Sofia did not flinch. Instead, a crooked smile curved on her lips. Not even her eyelids trembled.
"Did you think I don't know who my sister really is?" she replied calmly. "I know exactly what she wants. She wants you and Dimitri to bring this city under her feet. And for that, she's using me as bait."
Sofia glanced at the map on Viktor's table, then looked straight into his eyes.
"But what my sister wants… I don't. She wants a kingdom. I want Dimitri's downfall. Because Dimitri has stolen a file that can blackmail not just your mafia empire—but the entire system. My sister wants to use you and me to get that file into her hands."
Viktor frowned. He began to realize the game was far more complex than he had imagined. Sofia was plotting something of her own—against her own sister.
Lowering her voice, Sofia said, "Use the respect my sister has for you as her brother-in-law as a shield. Everything will end at my wedding with Dimitri. Are you willing to take that risk with me… or will you remain obedient to my sister?"
Viktor was stunned. Until now, he thought Sofia wanted Dimitri dead—but the sudden mention of marriage made the air in the room feel heavier.
He crushed his cigarette into the ashtray and stepped very close to her.
"You want to marry him? Have you lost your mind, Sofia? You just said you're an agent and you want Dimitri's fall. And now you're saying you want to marry him? Is this another move… or have you developed a secret weakness for him?"
Sofia glanced out the window and smiled faintly. There was no joy in that smile—only conspiracy.
"I don't want to marry him out of love," she said. "I want to marry him because, according to mafia law, when a mafia boss dies, all his property and documents go to his wife. Killing Dimitri from the outside is difficult. He's always surrounded by armed guards. But on his wedding night… he will be alone and unarmed."
She leaned slightly toward Viktor, her eyes gleaming.
"I will enter his empire as his wife. When Dimitri believes he has won, that is when I will finish him. And in doing so, my sister's wish will also be fulfilled—because through marriage, Dimitri's power will enter our family. Only Dimitri won't remain… his empire will. And you and I will divide it."
Viktor was momentarily impressed by her mind. He realized Sofia was even more dangerous than her sister.
"So you want to sign Dimitri's death warrant on the wedding altar itself?" he asked coldly.
"Yes," Sofia replied quietly. "And you will be the witness."
Suddenly Viktor grabbed her wrist and pulled her close. His eyes burned with something fierce.
"You are talking about harming my own brother knowingly, Sofia! He is my blood. Blood never betrays blood. You may be my sister-in-law—but Dimitri is my own existence."
Sofia did not move an inch. She stared into his eyes and spoke in a chilling tone.
"You talk about blood? When Dimitri shot Riki in front of my eyes, where was that mafia blood then? Riki had done nothing wrong. He only loved me. Your dear brother killed him like a dog just to clear his path."
There was not a drop of tear in her eyes—only blazing hatred.
She jerked her hand free.
"Your brother took away my love, Viktor. Now I will take away his life and his empire. If you care so much for him, kill me right now. But remember—your CIA agent wife, my sister, knows I'm here. If I die, she will never let you or Dimitri live in peace."
Viktor fell silent. On one side, his own brother. On the other, power, political pressure from his wife, and Sofia's burning thirst for revenge.
Sofia whispered one last time,
"Do you want to save your brother… or save your empire and your life? The choice is yours."When Sofia forced Viktor to face this brutal reality, the air inside the room turned icy. Viktor realized he was trapped in a web where every possible escape route was soaked in blood.
Next Scene: Viktor's Surrender and a New Pact
Viktor turned away from Sofia and walked slowly back to his desk. He opened a drawer and took out an old black-and-white photograph—teenage Viktor and little Dimitri standing together, smiling. He stared at it for a few seconds, then placed it face down.
In a calm, controlled voice, he said,
"Riyazul Riki… that boy meant nothing in Dimitri's empire. But you turned him into Dimitri's curse, Sofia. You were right—Dimitri may be my blood, but now he is a threat to my empire. He's blinded by his obsession with you."
He stepped close to Sofia. She could see her own reflection in his pupils. Viktor gently touched her chin.
"I agree to your proposal. Dimitri's last day will be his wedding day. But I have one condition. You will not take Dimitri's file. It stays with me. And after Dimitri dies… you will leave this country forever. Seeing you will remind me of my brother—and that weakness is dangerous for my empire."
Sofia gave a faint crooked smile.
"Deal. I don't want the file. I only want freedom… and Dimitri's corpse."
Just then, Sofia's phone screen lit up with a message:
"The Shadow is watching."
Her eyes froze. She glanced toward the window. From a distant high-rise building, a red laser dot was fixed precisely on Viktor's chest.
She whispered urgently,
"Don't move, Viktor. Not even an inch. My sister—Alia—must not be fully convinced by us. She has placed a sniper outside."
Viktor was stunned. His own wife, who was supposed to be home with the baby, was actually hundreds of meters away aiming a sniper rifle at him?
Sofia moved very close to Viktor, almost as if they were embracing—so from a distance it would look intimate. She leaned near his ear and whispered,
"Close the curtain. Then call Alia and say: 'Mission successful. Sofia has agreed.' If she suspects we're making a private deal without her… neither of us will see tomorrow's sunrise."
Viktor, with trembling hands, pulled out his phone.
Meanwhile, Sofia was smiling inside.
Because she was playing a double game.
She herself had sent Alia the message to deploy the sniper—only to frighten Viktor into becoming her complete puppet.
Viktor loosened his tie slightly and handed the phone to Sofia.
"Fine. Call her. Tell your sister you're under my control. But remember, Sofia—if this fire game turns against me, I'll save my empire by stepping over your corpse before Dimitri's."
Sofia calmly took the phone and turned on the loudspeaker. She dialed Alia.
After a few rings, Alia's cold, sharp voice answered.
"Why so late? Did Viktor agree… or should I signal my sniper to pull the trigger?"
Sofia looked into Viktor's eyes and replied calmly,
"Relax, Apa. No need for the sniper. Viktor understands that joining hands with us is his best option. He wants control over Dimitri's file and empire, and I want Dimitri's fall. The deal is final."
A soft laugh came from the other side. Viktor felt a chill run down his spine.
"Excellent," Alia said. "Viktor, if you're listening, make sure every word my sister said becomes true. Removing Dimitri benefits all of us. Start preparing the wedding cards and arrangements tomorrow morning. I want to invite the entire city to a grand wedding… that will end with a royal funeral."
The call ended.
A heavy silence filled the room.
Viktor stepped very close to Sofia.
"Your sister is a heartless devil, Sofia. But you… you're even more dangerous. You joined hands with your sister to kill your future husband, and at the same time used me to frighten her."
Sofia pulled the curtain closed and turned around. In her eyes flickered the memory of Riki's final moment when Dimitri shot him.
"The day Dimitri killed Riki in front of me, Sofia died too. The one standing before you now is nothing but a fire of revenge. Tomorrow will be the biggest drama in this city's history. Dimitri will think he's gaining me forever… and I will think I'm carving justice into his chest for Riki."
Viktor remained silent for a moment, then said,
"Prepare yourself for tomorrow's feast. Dimitri is a master of suspicion. One small mistake and he'll bury both of us in the same grave."
Sofia smiled faintly as she walked toward the door.
"He won't get the chance to suspect. Because tomorrow morning… I'll make him an offer that will steal all his intelligence away."
