CYusei Hoshi watched the messages fly across the screen in the large chat group and couldn't help but chuckle. These guys really knew how to talk!
Because of that one duel, Yuma Tsukumo and Kite Tenjo had become the focus of attention in all these worlds. Everyone's discussions revolved around the two of them.
Yugi Muto: "So, Yuma, your world is the world of Xyz, which means Synchro and Fusion are rare there, correct?"
Yuma Tsukumo: "That's right, Mr. Yugi! I heard you're the King of Games from the very first era. I was wondering what kind of ace monsters you used back then?"
Joey Wheeler: "Hahaha! I'll answer for Yugi! We used vanilla Normal Monsters! Things like Red-Eyes Black Dragon, Blue-Eyes White Dragon, and Dark Magician."
Kite Tenjo: "Huh? In that case, your decks must be really powerful! I saw those archetypes in the previous videos! That Red Dragon Archfiend left a deep impression on me!"
The ZEXAL and DM worlds quickly dove into a heated academic discussion about dueling. If Yuma and Kite hadn't seen the power of Red-Eyes, Blue-Eyes, and Dark Magician in the Higher World, they might have laughed at the idea of using Normal Monsters as aces. But now, they wouldn't dare. On the contrary, hearing that the DM duelists were pioneers in the history of Duel Monsters made Yuma and Kite even more curious.
The DM world! What kind of magical place was it? What had Yugi Muto, Pegasus, and Joey Wheeler experienced?
Yusei Fudo: "I see, so your era is a time of students, focused mainly on Fusion Summoning?"
Jaden Yuki: "Yeah, hehehe! My deck is all about HEROes, you know! The ones you saw earlier!"
Akiza Izinski: "Was that the Destiny HERO - Phoenix Enforcer deck? Was that you using it? Incredible! Are students these days really that strong?"
Jesse Anderson: "Aw, you're too kind, seniors. We're not that special. It's your Synchro Summoning that's truly amazing! Stardust Dragon vs. Red Dragon Archfiend... I'll never forget that duel for the rest of my life!"
The 5D's and GX worlds were also engaged in lively discussion. For the students and teachers of Duel Academy, the chance to have a technical discussion with the actual users of Stardust Dragon and Red Dragon Archfiend was a rare and precious opportunity. Professor Crowler and Chancellor Sheppard were especially eager to learn the essence of Synchro Summoning.
Through this academic collision of the four worlds, the DM and GX worlds could learn about Synchro and Xyz from 5D's and ZEXAL. In turn, the other two worlds could learn about Fusion Summoning.
Yusei Hoshi watched with a sense of satisfaction. It was just one large chat group, but watching them interact gave him the fulfilling feeling of raising a child.
In the process, Yusei also noticed some interesting points. For example, the other worlds were very interested in the Egyptian God Cards and the main characters' stories from the DM world. Similarly, the Earthbound Immortals, Polar Gods, and Timelords from the 5D's world were also a source of great fascination for the others.
Of course, that was all for later. What Yusei needed to do now was to provide a post-duel summary of the deck test. He would break down the strategies and builds of the Utopia and Galaxy-Eyes decks, helping Yuma and Kite understand what they missed in their plays and why they hadn't considered certain lines of play during the duel.
With that in mind, Yusei quickly found the relevant video. Soon, a new title appeared on the screen.
"Master Duel: Utopia's 'Feeling the Flow'! Do You Truly Understand the Power of Number 39?"
In that instant, all six dueling worlds received the new short video content prepared for them by Yusei Hoshi from the Higher World.
In the ZEXAL World.
Yuma, Kite, and the others quickly muted the chat from the other worlds to avoid distractions. Both of them wore serious expressions. Without a doubt, what came next was the analysis. This would show them what a real Utopia deck was, and what a real Galaxy-Eyes deck was. Through this video, they were sure to learn many interesting things. That was precisely why they had immediately chosen to block out the noise from the other worlds.
Inside the video, a vlogger named "Kattobingu Sensei" began to explain the construction of the Utopia deck.
Kattobingu Sensei: "Welcome, welcome, all you duelists, to Sensei's little classroom! Today, I'll be introducing my personal favorite deck: Onomato-Utopia!"
Kattobingu Sensei: "As we all know, Utopia is an Xyz-centric archetype, a powerful deck known for its explosive combos! The deck-building is also extremely simple. Aside from the three core 'Onomato' monsters, you just add cards like ZS - Ascended Sage and ZW - Pegasus Twin Saber."
Kattobingu Sensei: "So, here's the question: do you really know how to combo with Utopia? Do you understand how the cards in the deck work together to build a board?"
This soul-searching question silenced the duelists who weren't familiar with Utopia. And it felt as if the question was also directed at Yuma. He was about to confidently say, "Of course, I do!" but he caught Astral's gaze and swallowed his words. If it were a regular Xyz deck, he'd be confident. But a deck from the Higher World? He really didn't understand it. His previous plays were based on his pure "Utopia instinct" and the principle of "click whatever lights up." He was surprised he had even managed to win against Kite.
Kattobingu Sensei: "Alright, next, let's talk about the deck's combos. We'll start by excluding the three main 'Onomato' monsters since they make setting up too easy. Let's begin with a hand of two Level 4 monsters, with no Rank-Up-Magic Spell or way to search one."
Kattobingu Sensei: "Combo Line 1: When you only have Dodododwarf Gogogoglove and Zubababancho Gagagacoat in your hand. First, Normal Summon Gogogoglove and use its effect to Special Summon Gagagacoat. With two Level 4s, overlay into Number 39: Utopia Double! Activate its effect, add Double or Nothing! from your deck, then Rank-Up into Leo Utopia Ray! Activate Leo's effect, detach Gogogoglove, and Special Summon ZW - Pegasus Twin Saber from your deck and equip it! And there you have it, it's that simple!"
Indeed, Yuma had actually performed this very combo with those two cards. At this point, he felt quite proud of himself. At the very least, he had used this line of play to break Kite's board. Duelists from the other worlds also praised Yuma for his intuition.
But that was just the first combo.
Kattobingu Sensei: "Combo Line 2: If you can search a Rank-Up-Magic Spell. Let's say you have Utopic Onomatopoeia and the key card, ZS - Ascended Sage. First, Special Summon Ascended Sage, then Normal Summon Utopic Onomatopoeia. With two Level 4s, overlay into Utopia Double. Activate its effect, search for a spell, then Rank-Up into the original Number 39: Utopia! At this point, Ascended Sage's effect will trigger, allowing you to search for Hyper-Rank-Up-Magic Utopiforce. Then, you Rank-Up again into SNo. 39: Utopia ONE to build up materials. After that, use the spell to Rank-Up Utopia ONE into Number 99: Utopia Dragonar! Activate Dragonar's effect, detach two materials to summon Leo Utopia Ray! The Rank-Up Spell in the Graveyard becomes a material for Leo, which you can then detach to summon and equip Pegasus Twin Saber! That's two monster effect negates right there. Then, during your opponent's turn, you can use Dragonar's effect to summon Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy! That's a Spell negate, and Hope Harbinger can also absorb a Quick-Play Spell as material. Did you get all that?"
At this point, Yuma, who had been following along, was suddenly frozen in place. Kite, watching beside him, was equally stunned.
Wait a minute... a Utopia deck... is running a Galaxy-Eyes card?! Huh? Okay, okay! So that's how we're playing!
Kite almost burst into tears. His own Hope Harbinger was being used in his rival Yuma's Utopia deck!
"Uh, I did wonder why there was a Galaxy-Eyes card in my deck build," Yuma said. "I thought Mr. Yu made a mistake. So this is how you use it with Number 99! And you can do it on the opponent's turn? I'm learning so much!"
It was only then that Yuma finally understood why he had seen a Galaxy-Eyes card when he first looked at his Extra Deck. It was meant to be a first-turn negate!
Kattobingu Sensei: "Next up is the combo with the three core monsters. The standard hand is Utopic Onomatopoeia, Gogogoglove, and Gagagacoat. Normal Summon Gogogoglove and use its effect to Special Summon Utopic Onomatopoeia. Then Special Summon Gagagacoat. You now have three Level 4 monsters. Leaving Gagagacoat, overlay Onomatopoeia and Gogogoglove into ZS - Utopic Sage! Activate Utopic Sage's effect, detach two materials to summon ZS - Ascended Sage from your deck. Then activate Gagagacoat's effect to revive Onomatopoeia, and Gogogoglove's Graveyard effect to revive itself. You now have four Level 4 monsters. Overlay Ascended Sage and Gogogoglove into Number 39: Utopia. Ascended Sage's effect triggers, searching for the Rank-Up Spell. From there, it's the same formula: Rank-Up Utopia, use the Quick-Play Spell to summon Number 99, detach to summon Leo Utopia Ray. The difference is that you overlay Onomatopoeia and Gagagacoat to make Gagagaga Magician! Use its effect to revive Number 39: Utopia. Then, overlay Gagagaga Magician and ZS - Utopic Sage into FNo. 0: Utopic Future! Rank-Up Utopic Future into FNo. 0: Utopic Future Dragon! Finally, on your opponent's turn, use Number 99 to summon Hope Harbinger. Simple as that. Did you get it?"
"..."
Silence.
The ZEXAL world fell into a profound silence once more. Yuma blinked, listening to the so-called "Sensei's" explanation and watching the board being built on screen.
So, on the opponent's turn, your end board is:
FNo. 0: Utopic Future Dragon (3000 ATK): Protection from battle and card effects, plus a monster effect negate and steal!
Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy (3000 ATK): Spell negate and attack redirection!
Leo Utopia Ray equipped with ZW - Pegasus Twin Saber (3500 ATK): Two monster effect negates!
Number 99: Utopia Dragonar (3000 ATK): Changes an opponent's monster's ATK to 0 during battle!
With these four monsters on the field, the board presence was absolutely overwhelming. And if you had other resources in your hand, you could even make other Rank 4 Xyz monsters like Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir or Traptrix Rafflesia. It was completely ridiculous! The opponent would have an incredibly difficult time breaking a board like that! It was just as strong as Stardust Dragon's four-negate board!
"Whoa! That line of play is so unique and creative!"
"I feel like he knows how to 'feel the flow' better than I do!"
"This first-turn board... even if you gave it to me, I would never have thought to play it that way!"
Yuma swallowed hard. He was completely blown away by this end board. Astral slowly exhaled. Even he hadn't imagined a line of play that could logically lead to Utopic Future Dragon.
What left the other Xyz duelists speechless was the existence of a Rank 0 Xyz monster! What?! This was the first time they had ever seen a Rank 0! Shark and Rio stared at each other, wide-eyed, completely shocked by the Rank 0 Utopic Future Dragon. They never thought they would see a day with a Rank 0 Xyz, on top of the earlier Rank 13! This world was just too surreal!
Kattobingu Sensei: "Next up is the 'Kali Yuga' combo. The key here is the Rank-Up-Magic Spell, The Phantom Knights' Rank-Up-Magic Launch. The idea is the same: find a way to make Number 99, then use its effect to summon Number 89: Diablosis the Mind Hacker. The important part is Utopia Astral Hope, which can send a card from the hand to the Graveyard to search for the Spell Card Hyper-Rank-Up-Magic Utopiforce! And that card can search for The Phantom Knights' Rank-Up-Magic Launch! Then, on your opponent's turn, you can use the spell to Rank-Up Number 89. The final result is D/D/D Duo-Dawn King Kali Yuga!"
When the final combo was explained, Yuma and Astral were truly, completely, and utterly dumbfounded.
What in the world? Their own Utopia deck was having a dream collaboration with Phantom Knights? Was that even allowed?
Suddenly, they understood the purpose of all the non-archetypal cards in the Higher World's Extra Deck. Not a single one was useless! Whether it was the Galaxy-Eyes Xyz monster from before, or the D/D/D Duo-Dawn King Kali Yuga they were seeing now, or the Utopia Astral Hope they didn't understand before—all of these cards played a crucial role in the deck's construction.
And what's more, all the non-Utopia cards in the Extra Deck were actually summonable! It wasn't that they were impossible to make. But the most absurd part wasn't even that. It was that all these combos were fundamentally simple! So simple that even a beginner duelist could understand them.
This was the final straw for Yuma and Astral. Why hadn't he thought of using Utopia Astral Hope back then?
"Astral, my brain has shut down," Yuma said with a bitter smile. "All of these cards have a purpose. And I actually thought the Higher World threw in some non-Utopia cards just for fun."
Astral, standing beside him, was just as stunned. "Yuma, I'm no better than you. The thought process and creativity of Mr. Yu's Higher World... I truly cannot comprehend it. Adding this small 'Kali Yuga' engine to the Utopia deck for a first-turn board... it would be incredibly difficult for the opponent to break."
Astral let out a self-deprecating laugh. He had also been wondering what those cards were for. Now, his question had been answered. As for how strong Kali Yuga was, the Red-Eyes deck had already demonstrated it: a terrifying lockdown effect that negates and prevents the activation of all other cards on the field for the turn.
Just imagine: facing that insane first-turn board, plus a Kali Yuga on top of it? How much would the opponent suffer?
