Morning at the mansion felt offensively normal. Sunlight slid across polished floors. The fountain outside was doing its pretentious little trickle. Somewhere in the distance, Neko Neko was judging a houseplant. Andrew was sitting at the breakfast table with a glass of orange juice, a cup of tea and a look on his face that Tina didn't like. Not pain. Not discomfort. Just… thinking. And Andrew thinking too hard was historically dangerous. Tina leaned against the doorway, arms folded.
"Why do you look like you're about to announce a hostile takeover?"
Andrew blinked at her slowly.
"I am drinking juice."
"You're glaring at it."
"I don't trust it."
"That's pulp."
"That's sabotage."
She snorted and walked in, pressing a kiss to his hair as she passed. He didn't cling. Didn't grab her sleeve. Didn't demand attention. He just rested one hand over his stomach and went quiet again. Tina noticed. She pretended not to.
"You sleep okay?"
She asked casually.
"I slept."
