Chapter 52 - Chapter 51 The Third Victim.

Auden immediately left his room while using an ordinary invisibility cloak. He might have a bad impression of Malfoy from the movies, but even then the current Malfoy was a child. By the investigation done by Madam Bones, Auden realised that the victims of Lockheart's spells had actually suffered more than he had imagined.

Lockheart had boasted in the movies that he was excellent when it comes to memory charms. But from the victims Bones found, he might have lied when it comes to that as well.

Obliviate is actually a delicate spell. It is easier to use on muggles but becomes complicated when used in Wizards. The magic inside the wizards interferes when obliviate is used on them. It won't cause much trouble if you are deleting any recent memories, but it gets more and more complicated as the time being deleted increases more and more.

If you are an expert wizard, you can erase the memories without any lasting problems. But Lockheart was not the example of a competent wizard. Bones was able to find many victims who had actually become comatose. Investigations showed that all these people were directly linked to the locations where Lockheart had adventures or atleast from what he had written in his books.

Amelia had informed Auden, that they only need some more proofs to finally put Lockheart behind bars for the crimes he had committed.

But right now, Lockheart was going to attack another student. The first victim only had a few wounds and a bit of memory loss that spans a few hours. But Lockheart was trying to create a victim that time and he would have been careful as he had never done something like that in Hogwarts before.

But his second attempt had failed when Auden had escaped from his grasp. Plus, he was having an extreme amount of bad luck everyday since he had tried to harm Auden. The castle had marked him as its number one enemy ever since he had tried to attack its child. Plus, because of the attacks from the castle, Auden was sure that the teachers must have zeroed in on Lockheart as the attacker as well.

So, he was sure that Lockheart's mental health might not be at a stable position right now. The chances of him being heavy handed on Malfoy was very high. Auden was not going to let that happen.

There might be some protagonists who might say that he was interfering and that he should not busy himself with saving others. But Auden will not agree to that. He had read many fanfics where the protagonists reincarnating in the Hogwarts world had let many students of Hogwarts die while saying that they can't be bothered with it or that it is a dog eat dog world even though they had the ability to save them easily.

Auden was highly against characters of these kinds of mentality. Because they forgot the most important thing.

The students at the school are still kids.

No matter how much the author tries to write them as mature, at the end of the day they are still children who are learning. Some might show some dark tendencies due to their upbringing, but dying for such things is not fair for anyone at that age.

So right now, Auden was going to prevent Malfoy from falling into Lockheart's hands. But at the same time, Auden has to do it in a way that will not reveal his capabilities.

As Auden was thinking about this, he noticed something else as well.

The Golden trio was moving towards where the confrontation was about to happen and when he looked closer into the map, he found out that Dumbledore was near to them as well.

'Damn it, is that asshole playing games with children for fun or something' Auden screamed in his mind. Dumbledore was smart enough to reach the same conjecture as he did when it came to the matter about Lockheart. But even then he had decided to risk Malfoy's life to make Harry experience difficulties even more.

Suddenly Helena came floating near to him.

"Auden. What happened" She asked, she had the ability to see through invisible cloaks, so she wanted to ask why Auden was running like this suddenly.

But the moment Helena appeared, light bulb lit up in Auden's head.

"Helena, perfect timing. I got a plan" he said as he removed the cloak. He had no need of it right now since Helena had appeared.

Helena was confused but decided to listen.

At the same time in another part of the Castle, Dumbledore was following the trio silently while using his magic to sense the presence of both Malfoy and Lockheart.

Dumbledore decided to turn Lockheart's attack as a sort of lesson for Harry this year. Even though Harry had improved a lot by learning Parseltongue, Dumbledore felt that it was not enough. He needed to know that even the weakest of people can hide malice within them. He wanted Harry to see that Lockheart, a man Harry had considered to be weak and useless could have the power to kill or injure others if they feel the need to do so.

Plus, there was a second aim for Dumbledore as well. He wanted Malfoy to be a victim of the attack so that he can bring Malfoy senior to Hogwarts. While researching the diary, Dumbledore realised that it was a horcrux holding onto the soul of Voldemort and had promptly destroyed it by burning it with fiendfyre.

He also created a copy to check another thing. As to whether or not the followers of Voldemort had any idea about them. Snape had already informed him that Voldemort had never told him any thing about it and had not given him any item that can be considered as a horcrux.

So right now Dumbledore wants to check whether Lucius knew about the Horcrux or not and for that he will have to bring him into Hogwarts and pass on the fake diary he had created to him. His expressions that he will reveal at the time will answer Dumbledore's question.

And sorry to say, the young Malfoy will have to suffer a small injustice for it.

A/N- hope you like it.
