That had become Pamela's wish. It was the quiet hope shared by the women gathered in her home, and by every person in Brigantine who did not want to live under Gaspar and the former prisoners who answered to him.
Even before Callighan fell, Pamela had grown tired of the conflict between Brigantine and the Boardwalk. She had known Callighan well enough to see that he was capable of violence, yet she had also seen him hold the worst men back from doing whatever they pleased. Part of her had hoped he might eventually find a way toward something better.
That no longer mattered.
Brigantine under Gaspar was becoming unlivable, and Pamela was willing to take whatever chance she could find to help Marlon put an end to it.
