Lucius started his narration;
"Over a thousand years ago, Hell wasn't a pit of fire and darkness; it was a sanctuary of prosperity and new beginnings. I roamed like a king, beloved by the damned souls and rejected beings that came looking for a new beginning. Until one day, he appeared." Lucius' jaw tightened, and he clenched his fists in anger. He practically spat out the name, "The Phantom King".
He regained his composure as he looked at Junichi, forcing himself to the present. "Except, he wasn't a king back then. He looked like a lost traveller who accidentally came into my dominion. However, beneath the clueless face was a devious mind; a mind that only knew how to conquer." Lucius paused and took a deep breath. Both Amaterasu and Yuuhi had gathered near him, immersing themselves in the lore. Komorebi was still passed out, but her body stirred a little in her half-conscious state.
Lucius continued, "He tricked the people and gained their trust, only to deceive them later and drain their souls. The more he consumed, the stronger he got. And then he reached me. I tried everything, Master. I used all my demonic powers and ancient chants, but everything bounced off him. And then he destroyed Hell forever."
Junichi knelt forward to hear Lucius more clearly. He then asked the King of Hell, "So what happened after? How did you manage to banish him from Hell?" Lucius looked up in reverence. "I didn't, Master; you did."
Junichi raised his eyebrows. How could he have done that? It's only been months since he appeared in this new world. Since he met the girls, learned about the Trails, learned about the Phantom King. Most importantly, this is the first time he has seen Lucius. His mouth opened automatically, "Stop fucking around. When did I do that? I just got here."
Lucius gained posture and spoke up firmly, "I didn't literally mean you, Master; I meant the Dungeon Dueller. The one who appeared a thousand years ago and saved the three realms from the Phantom King and banished him back to the Black Purgatory."
"Another Dungeon Dueller? The one before me? You mean there were more like me?" Junichi gasped in shock, although he wasn't the only one. Yuuhi and Amaterasu's mouths were left hanging open as well. Even Amaterasu hadn't heard of this, despite being a goddess and the keeper of the Trails herself.
"Yes, Master", Lucius nodded in affirmation. "He was a strong man with broad shoulders that looked like he could crush a mountain by just tackling it. He carried the same authoritative aura as you do. He made the Phantom King look like a spoiled brat who needed a proper spanking. He was a monster, a monster that saved Hell that day. And I…" He trailed off.
"I gave him myself as the weapon that defeated the Phantom King, that landed the final blow. You see, Master, I have many powers, and one of them is transfiguration. Although I have a strong personality and will, I assure you I'm sharper than any blade you will wield. So please take me, Master. Please use me as your weapon and hang me at your hilt." The confident narrator within Lucius was gone, and the submissive King of Hell came back.
"You can turn into anything you say; that's interesting." Junichi's face showed a creepy and perverse blush. "Actually, I was reading a manga before I died, and there was this cute red-haired MC girl. She had bir bazookas and was a Devil. Can you turn into her and call me–" Before Junichi could finish, he was met with a sharp smack on the head. "You pervert!" Komorebi had woken up a while ago and was standing behind Junichi and listening. Her face was red with embarrassment.
"That hurts, idiot!" Junichi yelled back at Komorebi and then looked back at Lucius. "So the previous Dungeon Dueller seems pretty much like a war god. Was he like a legend in this world? Does he have a name?" Lucius looked up and smiled a little, his eyes drifting off into admiration and distant memories of the past. He spoke;
"We all called him Hell's Favorite Scoundrel"
