The violet light filled the chamber all at once. For a fraction of a second Trafalgar felt nothing beneath his feet, no sense of speed and no pressure dragging him through the distance, only the brief absence of the world before cold air struck his face, carrying ozone and the damp of cloud.
The light faded, and House Morgain stood on a platform almost identical to the one beneath their castle, with everything around it changed.
Pale marble had replaced black stone, the runes beneath their boots glowed a soft gold instead of violet, and a silver railing curved around the outer edge with nothing past it but open sky and cloud without end far below.
Trafalgar barely looked down. The first time he arrived the sight had stopped him where he stood, and he had gone straight to that railing to stare at the floating island, the clouds beneath it and the golden structures rising ahead.
