Chapter 105 - (S2) Chapter 50 - Karma

The Ruined Dynasty

The heavy iron-studded gates of the Celestial Mountain Palace bounced off the stone walls with a deafening crash as King Henry stormed through the corridors. He hadn't even stripped the dark, blood-splattered battle armor from his chest or washed the dust of the Fox Realm from his hands before he ran blindly up the grand ivory staircase. His heart hammered violently against his ribs, driven by a sudden, chilling dread that had gripped his soul the moment he crossed the palace perimeter.

The grand doors of the royal bedchamber swung open, and the Chief Healer stepped out into the hallway, his face completely pale, his hands trembling as he adjusted his medicinal sashes.

Henry lunged forward, his large hands aggressively grabbing the healer's robes. "Where is she?!" Henry demanded, his voice dropping into a frantic, low roar. "How is Merin? Speak!"

The healer lowered his head, a profound, heavy tragedy clouding his eyes. "Your Majesty... please brace your heart. The fall down the grand stairs was too severe. The impact... the Queen has suffered a complete miscarriage. The little one is gone."

Henry's breath caught completely in his throat. He staggered back a step, his golden eyes widening in absolute, paralyzing shock. "No... no way," he whispered, his voice cracking into a broken, bleeding whisper. "We... we were just naming her. She was supposed to be Fiona..."

"There is more, King Henry," the healer continued, his voice dropping into an even more terrified, solemn whisper. "The internal damage to the Queen's spiritual meridians is absolute. The trauma to her womb is irreparable. Princess Merin... she can never bear a child again. She is severely injured within. I am deeply sorry."

A violent, chaotic fury erupted in Henry's chest at the sheer unfairness of the universe. With a metallic shring, he drew his royal sword and pressed the razor-sharp edge directly against the healer's throat. The healer went entirely terrified, his back hitting the wall as he pleaded, "King... mercy! It is the absolute truth of the heavens! I have done everything in my power!"

Henry stared at the terrified old man, his vision blurring with a sea of hot, angry tears. Slowly, the strength left his arm. He let his sword slip from his fingers, clattering loudly onto the marble floor. He buried his face in his trembling hands, wiping the tears of a broken father. "What do I tell her...?" he choked out, his spirit completely shattering. "She will break into pieces the moment she hears this..."

CRASH!!!

A sudden, violent explosion of breaking porcelain shattered the silence from inside the bedroom.

Henry's heart stopped. He threw the doors open and rushed inside. Merin was sitting up in the center of the massive bed, her jade silks stained with sweat and medicine, her face completely pale as she frantically threw the glass vases and brass lamps off the side tables, smashing them onto the floor.

"No way!" Merin roared, her voice rising into a tragic, primal scream of absolute denial as she looked at Henry's tear-stained face. "No way, Henry! Tell me he is lying! Tell me!" She fell back against the pillows, clutching her empty, aching stomach as a torrent of tears flooded her eyes. "I heard everything... my baby... my sweet little Fiona..."

"Merin..." Henry panicked, throwing his powerful frame across the bed. He pulled her violently into his arms, crushing her against his chest armor as she sobbed with a raw, clawing agony. He buried his face in her dark hair, his own tears spilling onto her shoulders as they wept together over the ashes of their future.

The Birth in the Shadows

Deep within the dark, suffocating depths of the forbidden forest, miles away from the searching eyes of Ryan's celestial guards, the air was freezing cold.

Jade lay hidden beneath a dense thicket of thorns and tall wild grasses. The steel arrow was still buried deeply within her shoulder, the wound weeping a steady stream of dark crimson blood onto the damp earth. She was completely exhausted, her mortal body pushed to the absolute brink of death.

Suddenly, a violent, white-hot spasm of agony ripped through her entire lower body, completely eclipsing the pain in her shoulder.

Jade's eyes snapped wide, a low, animalistic roar of pure agony tearing from her throat. It wasn't the pain of the arrow—the sudden terror of her ordeal had triggered a premature, violent labor. The delivery pain was a monstrous, tearing force, and without Farina's demon core to shield her body, she felt every single ounce of the torture.

"Ahhh—!" she screamed against the dirt, biting down on her own lip until it bled, desperately trying to muffle her voice so the hunting soldiers wouldn't locate her hidden sanctuary.

Tears of pure exhaustion and maternal terror streamed down her face. She raised her trembling, blood-stained fingers, resting them protectively over the sharp contractions of her belly. The thought of Justin being miles away, completely unaware of her suffering, sent a sharp, emotional dagger through her soul.

She grenched her teeth, focusing every remaining ounce of her fading lifeforce into the child within. "Mom won't allow anything to happen to you..." Jade whispered into the dark, her voice cracking with an intense, beautiful romance-novel devotion. "Live... you must live... my beautiful Fiona..."

Gathering the absolute last fragment of her spiritual strength, Jade threw her head back against the dirt and let out one final, agonizing roar into the empty night, pushing through the shadows of death to bring her child into the world.

The Illusion of Paradise

Meanwhile, the grand bridal chambers of the Heaven Realm were drowning in an overwhelming, suffocating display of luxury.

Emily stood in the center of the room, her mouth completely wide open in sheer, awkward confusion. Arranged in front of her were dozens of towering mahogany racks, each draped with the most breathtakingly beautiful wedding hanfus in the three realms—crafted from the finest white and crimson silks, embroidered with pure gold threads and iridescent pearl details.

A head palace maid bowed low before her, smiling warmly. "Your Highness, Prince Ryan has commanded that you may choose whichever gown captures your heart. Once you select the hanfu, we will bring the royal jewel chests for your matching ornaments."

Emily offered a small, thoroughly overwhelmed smile. "Fine... thank you," she murmured, her fingers idly brushing the heavy silks, her heart feeling strangely heavy despite the romance surrounding her.

Suddenly, the heavy doors opened, and Crown Prince Ryan stepped into the room. His sapphire robes were immaculate, his pale, handsome face carrying an air of absolute, untouchable power.

Emily immediately turned to him, her eyebrows furrowing as she gestured to the sea of clothes. "Why on earth did you send this many clothes to my room, Ryan? It's completely ridiculous."

Ryan slowly closed the distance between them, a dangerous, impossibly tender smirk cutting across his lips as his golden eyes drank in her features. "I want my wife to wear the absolute best hanfu in existence," he murmured in his deep, intoxicating baritone, the possessive weight of his words sending a shiver down her spine. "Nothing less is worthy of you."

Emily's cheeks flushed a soft pink, and she rolled her eyes playfully. "You are completely impossible."

"Then select your gown quickly, little one," Ryan said, his tone suddenly shifting into a subtle, serious gravity. "I have to leave the palace for a short while."

A sudden wave of nervousness gripped Emily. She instinctively reached out, her small hand grabbing his forearm tightly. "Where? Where are you going at an hour like this?"

Ryan looked down at her gripping fingers, his expression softening into a look of absolute, breathtaking devotion. He raised his large, warm hand, his long fingers gently cupping her blushing cheek, his thumb tracing her skin with a lingering, sweet warmth. "Do not worry yourself, Emily. It is merely a small business matter to finish at the borders. I will come right back to your side the moment it is done."

Emily stared into his beautiful golden eyes, completely melted by his tenderness, utterly blind to the horrific truth. She nodded softly. "Mm. Be careful."

Ryan gave her a final, lingering look of absolute devotion before turning on his heel and walking out of the chamber, his sapphire silks flaring behind him as he marched back out into the dark—intent on completing the brutal destruction of the Fox Realm before returning to marry the girl who loved him for a mercy he had never possessed.

------------

The Ash-Laden Throne

The heavy, iron-reinforced gates of the Fox Realm's royal palace hung loosely from their stone hinges, warped and blackened by the violent celestial flames that had swept through the capital. The air was thick with the suffocating stench of ozone, burnt silk, and the lingering copper tang of spilled blood.

King Justin burst through the ruined grand corridors, his movements frantic and unhinged. He was still clad in his heavy silver war armor, now dented, scratched, and splattered with the dark blood of the northern rebels. Sweat mixed with the grime of the battlefield dripped down his hollowed cheeks, his breathing shallow and ragged. The moment the battle on the northern border had concluded, he had ridden his celestial beast to the point of collapse, driven by the agonizing, phantom pain that had ripped through his chest—a direct warning from the protective devil core Jade had forged for him.

He threw his body against the shattered cedar doors of their private marital sanctuary, his golden eyes scanning the darkness.

The moment he stepped inside, his entire world ground to a devastating, sudden halt.

The chamber—once a warm, incense-scented paradise of silk drapes and soft laughter—was completely unrecognizable. The ivory canopy bed was charred to a cinder. Shattered glass, broken porcelain, and overturned candle stands littered the floor. But it was the center of the room that stole the very breath from his lungs. There, splattered across the ruined marble floor in a horrific, violent trail, was a pool of fresh, shimmering celestial and mortal blood, mixed with the grey remains of burnt silk.

Justin's knees gave out entirely. The mighty Fox King crashed heavily onto the cold, ash-covered stone, his powerful hands trembling violently as he hovered his fingers just millimeters above the wet crimson stains. A suffocating, bleeding agony tore through his chest, making it impossible to breathe.

"Jade..." he whispered into the empty, ruined room, his voice cracking into a broken, breathless sob. "Jade... no... please, no..."

"Your Majesty!" a ragged, blood-stained palace guard gasped, stumbling through the ruined threshold and gripping the doorframe for support, his eyes wide with fear as he looked at his kneeling king.

Justin slowly rose to his feet, his broad shoulders shaking with a terrifying, unhinged fury. He spun around, his golden eyes blazing with a sudden, monstrous crimson light that radiated the ancient, lethal power of the Fox lineage. He lunged forward, grabbing the guard's heavy armor and slamming him violently against the stone wall.

"What happened here?!" Justin roared, a primal, devastating sound of pure outrage that echoed like thunder off the cracked ceiling. "Where were you?! Where were the royal defenses?! How could you let this happen to your Queen?!"

The guard went entirely terrified, his voice trembling violently as tears of shame tracked through the dust on his face. "Sire... mercy! The primary army was with you at the northern border! A massive legion of Heaven soldiers caught us entirely by surprise! They... they slaughtered our outer guards in seconds. And behind them... Crown Prince Ryan himself breached this very chamber. They trapped the Queen, sire... she fought them off with fire, but they chased her out... they chased our Queen right into the ancient royal forest!"

Justin's hands slowly slipped from the guard's armor, his chest heaving as the brutal reality crashed over his soul. The tears that filled his eyes were no longer born of grief; they were hot, blinding, and burning a dangerous, dark red with the promise of a bloodbath. He drew himself up to his full, imposing height, the regal majesty of the Fox King freezing the very air in the room.

"Search the forest," Justin commanded, his voice dropping into a deathly quiet, ice-cold baritone that brooked no delay. "Deploy every remaining soul. Find my wife. Find Jade."

He turned his back to the guard, his eyes locking onto the trail of blood leading toward the hidden escape tapestry. He clenched his fists so tightly his leather gloves groaned under the strain, his heart hardening into an impenetrable fortress of pure vengeance.

"I will not leave you to die in the dark, my love," Justin whispered into the quiet shadows, a silent vow of eternal romance and absolute destruction. Then, his jaw tightened, his voice dropping into a lethal, growling whisper meant for the heavens. "And you... Prince Ryan... you will pay for every single drop of her blood. I will burn your entire realm to ash for this."
