While Ralph fought to save his life, he couldn't help but think about Ash with every second that went by. The scene replayed in his head, as Ash leapt for the monster behind him so he could cross safely but yet here he was, still in danger despite Ash's sacrifice.
'I have to survive, not for myself but for Ash. I have to survive and find him once this is all over!!'
He made that promise to himself on the verge of falling off, but he tightened his grip around the branch. The snow soon stopped sliding, but he didn't let go just yet. He wanted to make sure that was actually the case and not a preparation for a second round.
Once he was sure the avalanche had finally stopped he released his grip on the branch. 'Come to think of it, my grip strength multiplied when I held that branch. I normally wouldn't have that much energy to hold onto that branch so strongly against an avalanche that powerful.'
