Penny did not miss a beat.
The moment the words settled and the shock finished rippling through the group, she lunged forward like something possessed, eyes gleaming with unholy excitement.
"WAIT," Penny said loudly, trying to grab Rachel by her wrist. "Back up. No. You do not get to just stand there after that and pretend we are done."
Rachel avoided the clumsy grab with a sharp scowl. "We are absolutely done. Now is not the time for this."
Penny gasped as if personally wounded. Then she straightened, puffed her chest out proudly.
"There is always time for drama," Penny declared. "I live and breathe drama at this point."
She struck a pose, one hand on her hip, chin tilted up smugly. It was the kind of stance that screamed self satisfaction. It made her look painfully pleased with herself.
Rachel's eye twitched.
For a brief, dangerous moment, Penny could swear Rachel was seriously considering decking her.
Jamie, wisely, took a step back.
