(Author notes: Shrek Seven monsters were an important part of Douluo Dalu story , so I am introducing their chapters for many readers who have not read Douluo Dalu, for little character development . )
The atmosphere instantly grew heavy.
Yet—
None of the Shrek students backed down.
Almost simultaneously, brilliant lights erupted again as they released their martial souls once more. Soul power surged, eyes sharp and fearless, their bodies instinctively shifting into combat stances.
Just as the Soul King teacher was about to unleash his attack to theach these impudent brats a lesson , a heavyvoice thundered down from above.
"What do you think you're doing to my students?".
With slow, earth-shaking steps, Zhao Wuji descended from the upper floor. Each footstep landed like a hammer strike, cracking the wooden stairs beneath him. Before he even reached the ground floor, his Martial Soul—Vigorous Vajra Bear—had already been possessed.
The surrounding diners instinctively retreated, faces pale.
Zhao Wuji stopped directly in front of the Cang Yue Academy teacher, his shadow swallowing the man whole.
His voice was deep, cold, and merciless.
"You are not worthy," he said slowly, each word striking like a hammer,"to teach a lesson to the students of Shrek Academy."
The humiliation was blatant.
Before the Soul King could respond, Ma Hongjun pumped his fist excitedly.
"Go for it, Vice Dean!"
Xiao Wu clapped her hands together, eyes shining.
"Beat them up!"
Their words were like oil poured onto a blazing fire.
Veins bulged on the Soul King's forehead as he laughed harshly, rage evident in every breath.
"Shrek Academy?" he sneered."What kind of third-rate academy is that?"
As his fourth soul ring flared brightly, soul power surged violently around him. The Black Tortoise phantom behind him roared, its shell gleaming as the man prepared to strike.
But he was too slow.
Zhao Wuji's eyes flashed coldly.
Without a single wasted movement, he raised his arm.
"Second Soul Skill — Vigorous Vajra Palm!"
A massive palm-shaped surge of soul power exploded forward, carrying overwhelming physical force. The air itself seemed to distort as the attack slammed squarely into the Soul King's chest.
BOOM!
The teacher was sent flying like a broken doll, crashing violently through the tavern doors. Wood shattered, stone cracked, and his body skidded across the street outside in a cloud of dust.
The Cang Yue Academy students screamed in shock and rushed out immediately, scrambling to help their teacher up from the rubble.
Inside the tavern, stunned silence followed.
Then—
The tavern owner came running forward, face pale and voice trembling.
"My wall—! My wall—!" he cried desperately."Someone—someone go call the garrison!"
Zhao Wuji's expression instantly changed.
Cold arrogance vanished, replaced by visible panic.
Sweat beaded on his forehead as he hurried over, pulling out a pouch of gold coins and shoving it into the owner's hands.
"Owner, I sincerely apologize for the commotion," Zhao Wuji said hurriedly."This should be enough to cover the repairs."
The tavern owner opened the pouch slightly.
Two hundred gold soul coins.
He glanced at Zhao Wuji, then at the shattered door, then back at the heavy pouch.
'Offending a powerful Soul Sage over a wall, would be sheer stupidity.'
The owner immediately nodded, expression smoothing out as he clutched the pouch tightly.
"Enough… enough," he said quickly."As long as it's repaired, it's fine."
Zhao Wuji finally let out a breath of relief.
Behind him, the Shrek students exchanged looks—some excited, some smug, some thoughtful.
Zhao Wuji indeed felt much better after settling the matter.
Unlike ordinary towns, Soul Hunting Town was a special place. Its order was jointly maintained by multiple powerful forces—great sects, noble families, military garrisons. Any soul master who caused repeated trouble here would quickly be blacklisted.
And once blacklisted in Soul Hunting Town, hunting soul beasts in the Star Dou Forest would become nearly impossible.
For a soul master, that was no different from having one's cultivation path severed.
Ma Hongjun waddled over, rubbing his head and speaking with obvious dissatisfaction.
"Teacher Zhao, why did you give so much money to that measly tavern owner?""You never give me that much whenever I ask for it."
Zhao Wuji's eyelid twitched.
His gaze landed on the fatty, and by pure instinct alone, he felt that this entire mess must have started because of him.
Without hesitation, Zhao Wuji raised his hand and smacked Ma Hongjun on the head.
Pa!
"Fatty," Zhao Wuji said coldly,"don't think this is Soutou City."
"If you anger the garrison here for disrupting social order," he continued grimly,"you'll be finished, understand?"
"Owww—!"Ma Hongjun clutched his head, eyes brimming with tears, but didn't dare retort.
Just then, Ning Rongrong, who had been rapidly assimilated into Shrek's unruly atmosphere, chimed in casually.
"I don't think it would be that serious," she said lightly."I know—my father funds most of the garrison here."
The moment those words left her mouth—
Ma Hongjun and Oscar both turned to her, eyes shining as if they had just found a golden thigh to cling to.
Zhao Wuji, however, merely shook his head.
"Little girl," he said in a low voice,"don't stick your hands into things you don't understand."
"Even your father would be angry if he knew you said something like that here."
Ning Rongrong pouted slightly, clearly unconvinced.
But Zhao Wuji had no intention of explaining further.
Without lingering any longer, Zhao Wuji waved his hand.
"Let's go."
The group quickly left the tavern, heading straight toward the Star Dou Forest.
As they passed through the streets, the surrounding customers watched them with disdainful and wary gazes. Some whispered, others deliberately stepped aside, as if afraid of being implicated.
None of the Shrek students cared.
From the shadow of a nearby building, a pair of calm, observant eyes followed their departing figures.
A woman stood there quietly, her presence perfectly concealed.
A faint whisper escaped her lips, barely audible.
"So the message was true…"
Her gaze lingered on the figures of Tang San and Zhao Wuji in particular.
"This Shrek Academy…""…is indeed an interesting bunch."
The wind brushed past, and her figure melted back into the crowd, as if she had never been there at all.
