It was early spring, and Kylia sat inside her personal tent among the 2nd Kylian Brigade, the canvas walls gently shifting with the cold breeze. Her sword, Zirka, rested at her side as she read out loud the AAR General Odin had sent her.
In the battle outside Viskov, the Kylians took zero casualties while the Northern Hylian Army was annihilated. Compared to New Rosa, where the 2nd Brigade lost 100 men to destroy 75% of King Atari's forces, Odin's 1st Brigade had performed far better.
The situation between the two events was different though. The 2nd Brigade, weaker than the 1st, had to fight the Hylian Army's elite troops head on. The 1st Brigade, by contrast, launched a surprise attack on the much weaker Hylian 2nd Army.
Both battles took place in winter, but the mild New Rosian winter near the line of cancer was nothing like the brutal Viskovian winter near the North Pole. When King Atari's forces were defeated, they could still retreat in some order, having prepared supplies. Lord Hairiahito forces were hit directly in their camp, many of their supplies destroyed by Kylian artillery. To reach Hyrule, the survivors would have to cross thousands of kilometers of Viskovian and Sovian tundra.
Before the war, the Hylian Army had 10,723 troops. Now they have fewer than 3,000. In the first battles of Year 27 alone, they suffered 3,000 fatalities at New Rosa, 300 in the raid on Viskov City, and 4,000 in the North, for a total of 7,300 not counting losses from Year 26.
In a single month of fighting the Kylians, the Hylians had lost 68% of their pre‑war strength.
The Kylians, by comparison, had lost only 300 men, or 2.8% of their Year 26 mobilization.
The Hylians' early momentum was gone. At their peak they occupied all of Sovi and Pavo, the northern half of Zeleny, the eastern half of New Rosa, and three‑quarters of Viskov.
Including the Kingdom of Hyrule, they controlled 47.5 million square kilometers, larger than the British Empire! Of course, most of that territory is empty, but still, that is a lot of land!
With Lord Hairiahito northern forces destroyed, it was only a matter of time before the Kylians, Viskovians, and Sovians reclaimed most of Viskov and Sovi. Fewer than 1,000 Hylians in eastern New Rosa and 2,000 in northern Zeleny were already retreating to defend Pavo City.
At the same time 4,000 Kylian troops and nearly a thousand Alliance troops are giving chase. If Pavo falls, the mainland of Hyrule would be next!
Scrolling down Odin's report Kylia spotted a subject that worried her very much.
During the battle outside Viskov, Viskov and Sovi met Lord Ghirahim, the same guy who severed Kylia's right arm. With him interfering with the war, he introduces new variables that may destabilize the advantageous situation.
Glancing at Zirka hilt sticking out of the new custom-made Valor hair composite scabbard Kylia had made, she casually asked. "What do you think of Lord Ghirahim, Zirka?"
Zirka, who inherited memories from Kylia and heard the report, seemed to pause for a second, thinking, before responding in a casual manner.
"His appearance dozens of years before the main story of breath of the wild begins is very alarming. It may be because of your appearance that the butterfly had flapped its wings, changing the story. However, it's more likely a cause of the differences between a video game and a world. After all, the western states did not exist in the original game. I am really not sure."
"If you and Ghirahim fought," Kylia questioned as she pulled Zirka out of her scabbard. "Who would win?"
"Well, Lord Ghirahim, duh!" Zirka shot back as if stating the obvious then chided. "Although I am fortunate that I was split off from the real Master Sword before the world's timeline split in three, meaning I was a clone of the original whole Master Sword, as a copy I am no match for lord Ghirahim."
"However compared to the current real Master Sword which spends her inheritance recklessly, I have been very stingy with my powers. Unlike Fi, who will break in a couple hundred years after a clash with a reincarnation of Demise and then gets split in two, tip stuck in an infinite time loop while the hilt comes back around with link, I am still very powerful. If you wield me, we may be able to scratch Lord Ghirahim."
"So, your inheritance is like your powers, right?" Kylia brought Zirka to eye level as she earnestly asked. "What will we need to do to restore or enhance your 'inheritance'?"
"Sheesh! Don't be so excited! You're still fighting a war and yet you're already thinking about strengthening me for your own benefit! How shameless!" With indignance, Zirka loudly admonished Kylia and was promptly lowered to Kylia's lap. "I'll need the three sacred flames of Farore, Din and Nayru along with a blessing, preferably the Goddess Hylia but anyone powerful enough will do."
"As for the three flames, I believe that the three dragons circling over Hyrule have some connection to do with them."
"Another option is the Trial of the Sword in the Lost Woods however it is likely that the Master Sword is still in that pedestal, blocking our way into the trial area."
"Even if our efforts do not bring me to the power of the peak Master Sword, it would strengthen my origin and bring me from a level of being just a clone to that of something much more."
"Hahaha! Good…" With her left arm out, hand palm up, fingers splayed out and only the glint of a smile showing through the faint lamp light, Kylia ominously cackled. "In the future we may have to fight Lord Ghirahim. I want revenge!"
"Have you gone full Madara!" The pitch of Zirka's voice rose an octave in terror. "Using your tier system, Lord Ghirahim is a Peak Boss Tier opponent, second only to Demise. Using the memories I have inherited from the Goddess Sword during the Goddess Hylia Era, all things under Boss Tier are ants, even Weak Boss Tiers! If Lord Ghirahim really wanted to kill a Half-Step Boss Tier like you, he would have done it already! Please don't seek death till you become a Boss Tier yourself, I want to live too!"
"Fine…But mark my words! I will get my revenge!" Kylia threw her head back and swore. "If I can't go against Lord Ghirahim, I'll just murder the Golden Lynel that was accompanying him! HAHAHAHAHA!"
"Hopeless…Its hopeless!" Zirka's voice rambled down, questioning her life choices. "Maybe I should have went with Rosa instead, despite being much weaker, she seems way more composed and saner!"
"What was that?! Me, weaker than Kylia?" Rosa, who was passing by, heard the commotion and was now poking her head inside Kylia's tent staring straight at Zirka with a smile. "I needed a digging tool to dig this sword-shaped ditch, and I so happen to find the perfect tool for the job! May I borrow this tool?"
"Sure! HAHAHA!"
"Save me!"
…
"Ah-ah-achoo!" over in far east New Rosa a certain Golden Lynel sneezed while glancing at a certain tri-colored Chuchu that had appeared over the horizon.
