In no time, the battlefield was met with absolute silence.

It wasn't the peaceful silence of a library; it was the heavy, exhausted silence of a graveyard.

The screaming had finally stopped.

The explosions had ceased.

The desert wind blew across the dunes, burying the evidence of hundreds of battles under a fine layer of orange dust.

The number of bases on the horizon had reduced by almost half.

The weak had been culled.

The foolish had been eliminated.

Only the predators remained.

Swish.

Kael slashed through the mana barrier of the last person from a team foolish enough to try their luck—a rogue group trying to sneak up the dune.

The boy looked at Kael with terror before dissolving into light.

Kael bent down, his joints popping audibly, and picked up the fallen flag.

To say he was exhausted would be an insult to the word.

Every muscle fiber in his body was screaming.
