The court was filled with Wizards with plum colored robes having a large, silver colored 'W' embroidered on them. These were the members of Wizengamot, the so called Parliament cum Court of Wizarding world, filled with some fools who want themselves to be called as 'Lords & Ladies ', as if they were some royalty.
Today is one of the most important days for myself as well as entire WDA. I am hundred percent sure that we will prove Sirius non guilty.
I looked toward our Lawyer, Augustus Anderson, who was going to represent Sirius in this case. He was a well known lawyer in British wizarding world.
Before meeting Professor Dumbledore, I met Minister Bagnold and provided her evidence that Sirius was innocent but WDA will not allow Sirius inside the ministry until they are given confidence that he will not be harmed. Problem that came in front of myself was that Minister Bagnold hated black family with everything she had got. She lost her brother in a Death eater attack, led by Bellatrix and her husband. Minister Bagnold considered the entire black family as the reason for her brother's death including Sirius black.
For her, every Black family member was a death eater. And the same thing could be said for Bartimius Crouch Senior, who was the head of Department of Magical Law Enforcement, as he never believed that Sirius was an ardent supporter of light.
It was quite hard to convince minister to give Sirius a fair trial. It was not until I pulled out my Ace, she listened to me. I gave her a carrot that if she gives Sirius Black a trial then WDA will locate the Death Eater's Bank accounts in Non-magical world and make sure that 40% of the entire funds will be given to the Ministry itself. Of course, little would she know that WDA was already tracking movements of Death Eater's Bank accounts as they were using Non-Magical Mafia network throughout Europe to embezzle funds and hence all the accounts were going to be seized by the Government agencies and as WDA is the part of ongoing investigations, it was going to be given a part of the money.
Out of the 10 Million pounds that is going to be seized throughout Europe by WDA, only 2 million pound were through British banks and hence was not going to cause a problem for the Organisation.
So here I am, waiting for the trial to get started as Sirius was brought to the center of the infamous Courtroom no. 10 as the chattering of people started to rise up in volume. They were angry at Sirius understably, but it was the time to remove the misconceptions of theirs.
As Dumbledore entered the Courtroom, the voices start to lower down in volume. Dumbledore sat on his chair as Chief Warlock of Wizengamot. I looked at him and he gave me an imperceptible nod as he kickstarted the trial.
"Has everyone arrived ?" Dumbledore's calm but stern voice echoed the chamber as he looked at the Scribe. The Scribe nodded in affirmative.
"Seal the doors." Dumbledore ordered the Aurors who quickly sealed the doors of the Courtroom. Now, nobody would be allowed to enter or leave the chamber until Wizengamot is suspended.
"The trial of Sirius Black vs Ministry of Magic will begin now. Who is representing accused Mr. Black?" Dumbledore started the trial.
Our Lawyer stood from his seat and stated his name, "Augustus Anderson is representing Mr. Black."
"And who is representing the Ministry of Magic?" Dumbledore asked the Ministry.
"Bartemius Crouch Senior, Head of DMLE, representing the Prosecution by Ministry of Magic." Crouch looked as if he want to burn a hole in Sirius head as well as my head.
Crouch stood and started to give his opening statement in his somber and serious tone, "We all know that this is a trial of Sirius Black vs Ministry of Magic. Sirius Black is accused of being the traitor to the Wizarding World as he told the location of Potters to He-Who-Must-Not-be-Named causing the death of entire Potter family. When he was running away from the aurors, he was confronted by Mr. Peter Pettigrew, a friend of Mr. James Potter. During the Confrontation, Mr. Black broke the statue of secrecy & fired spells in muggle area. One of the stray spell hit a underground gas line causing a blast which killed Mr. Pettigrew who was just next to pipeline. The blast would have taken more lives if it wasn't for WDA Detectives on ground who contained the blast. Then the same detectives aided Mr. Black in running away."
Crouch took a breath and looked at Sirius with hateful gaze and spoke,"So the total charges are, Being part of terrorist group Death Eaters, Aiding He-Who-Must-Not-be-Named, Helping in murder of Mr. James Potter (Lord of Most Ancient and Nobel House of Potter), Mrs. Lily Evans Potter (Lady of Most Ancient and Nobel House of Potter) and Harry James Potter (Heir apparent of Most Ancient and Nobel House of Potter), Commiting Murder of Mr. Peter Pettigrew and evading Aurors."
"For these crimes, I demand Dementor's kiss for Mr. Sirius Black, so that justice could be given to those who have lost their lives because of this deranged man. I also demand investigation into the involvement of WDA in aiding Sirius Black while he was running away from the Aurors."
Dumbledore nodded at Crouch and looked toward Mr. Anderson, "What is Defence counsel has to say about the charges which are brought up against the Defendant, Sirius Black?"
Mr. Anderson stood up and took a deep breath , " Defense categorically denies the charges of being an accomplice of murders of Potter Family brought up against my client Sirius Black. Defense also denies the murder charges of Peter Pettigrew against my client."
After that Mr. Anderson went back to his seat.
Dumbledore now looked at Crouch and asked, "Prosecution may present the evidence and witness supporting the charges."
Crouch produced written statements by the Non Magicals who were present in that alley where confrontation between Sirius and pettigrew happened and witnesses that included Dumbledore & Alastor moody, a friend of Dumbledore, who were told by the Potters that their secret keeper is Sirius.
After all the statements and witnesses, Dumbledore asked Mr. Anderson to present his own witness.
"I just want to call one witness, Peter pettigrew." Just as this was said, there was huge uproar in the entire Wizengamot.
Dumbledore has to fire some charm from his wand that caused pain to my ears because of the noise and caused the public to go silent.
Crouch stood up from his seat ,his entire face was red with anger , "What's the meaning of this? You are mocking the entire Wizengamot by saying this kind of stuff. Peter pettigrew is dead, killed by the very man that you are defending. Seen by multiple witnesses and even two of the witness were from WDA."
Mr. Anderson just smiled, "You are just half correct, Mr. Crouch. All witnesses saw the blast, but nobody found the body of Mr. Pettigrew."
" But, we have got his —" "—his finger, but not any other part of his body Mr. Crouch. No blood splattered around in the alley, no other body parts found. I have a photo of his finger provided to the defense by Prosecution."
Mr. Anderson moved towards the scribe with the photo, who passed the photo to Dumbledore, "If you look closely at the finger you will find that the finger is clearly severed by Diffindo charm rather than dismembered because of blast. I think that's enough reason to question the supposed death of Peter Pettigrew."
Dumbledorelooked atthe picture and nodded in affirmative, "I will allow the questioning of this supposed Peter Pettigrew, but first he will be checked for polyjuice potion, so that it will be completely clear to everyone that Peter Pettigrew that you are bringing is real and not fake."
Mr. Anderson looked at me, "if Mr. Prancer could do the honours."
I smiled and moved toward the Center of Wizengamot thinking, 'Now the real game begins….'
