Chapter 120 - Crushing Defeat

Zayne watched Squad A approach with calm indifference. To him, their movements seemed sluggish—almost frozen in time. It wasn't that they were slow.

It was that he was faster.

"Fire!" Red commanded.

The team responded instantly, raising their Delta Enforcers in perfect synchronization.

Ziing! Ziing! Ziing—

Five laser beams of varying colors tore through the air toward Zayne at extreme speed.

His eyes narrowed slightly.

Without wasting a second, he moved.

His upper body blurred, leaving faint afterimages as he weaved through the incoming blasts. Strangely, his feet never left the ground. It was as if his boots were rooted to the earth itself. Every dodge was minimal. Precise. Effortless.

Before they could even process what happened—

He vanished.

No.

He accelerated.

In less than a blink, Zayne appeared in front of Blue, fist already chambered.

Bang!

The punch landed squarely in Blue's gut.

"Ugh—!"

Blue's body convulsed violently before he was launched several meters backward, skidding across the pavement like discarded scrap metal.

The others barely had time to react.

Zayne was already in motion again.

Green's scream echoed as his wrists snapped under a brutal strike.

Yellow staggered as something inside her chest cracked—ribs fracturing from internal impact.

Pink was sent flying like a ragdoll, spinning mid-air before crashing hard into the side of a patrol vehicle.

Red had it worst.

A vicious uppercut sent him airborne. But Zayne didn't stop there.

He followed.

Mid-air, he struck Red three more times—each hit landing with calculated precision—before sending him crashing down with a final blow that embedded him into the asphalt.

Zayne wasn't holding back.

They had disrespected him. Disrespected his team. Disrespected their work.

This was repayment.

"Damn…" Trent muttered under his breath, watching the display with awe. "Zayne's on demon time."

The others nodded.

He had said he would beat the living shit out of them.

And he did.

Groans filled the battlefield.

"Uhn—!"

"Shit…"

"My legs!"

Squad A writhed on the ground, bones audibly cracking as some of them attempted to force limbs back into alignment.

Red, however, endured in silence.

He forced himself not to scream.

A leader couldn't afford that weakness. If he broke, his team's morale would collapse completely. And it was too early for that.

Far too early.

Red slowly lifted his head.

Through his visor, he stared at Zayne—who stood there calmly, looking down at them as if they were nothing more than insects.

"Damn it…" Red muttered under his breath. "I refuse to believe I can't take you down. I'm a future planetary ruler. No one can stop me."

Madness flared behind his helmet.

Though unseen, it radiated through his body language. He struggled to his feet, clutching his abdomen, posture slightly hunched from the damage and exhaustion.

"Get up!" he roared at his fallen teammates.

His anger intensified. They were useless. Couldn't even last a second.

"I should've never brought them," he thought bitterly. "I should've accepted that person's offer to use his minions. I was too arrogant."

Fear drove the rest of Squad A upright. Their bodies trembled, injuries screaming in protest. But the fear of disappointing Red outweighed the pain.

"Formation B. Now!" Red barked.

As if overriding their own suffering, the team snapped into position. They drew their DeltaMax Strikers and Delta Blasters, surrounding Zayne once again.

Ziing! Baam! Slash—

Energy blasts. Shock rounds. Close-range slashes.

Attacks poured in from every angle.

Any normal fighter would have been overwhelmed. Disoriented.

Zayne didn't even draw his weapon.

He shifted into a fighting stance.

A crimson, chaotic energy began to coil around his fists—the Omni-Force responding to his will.

The air trembled.

Then—

Boom.

A thunderous, sonic-like detonation erupted from his punch.

The wave of force obliterated every incoming attack mid-air, disintegrating them into sparks and fragments of fading energy. The shockwave continued outward, slamming into Squad A and sending them skidding back an absurd distance.

They remained standing only because the punch had targeted their attacks—not their bodies.

Had it been directed at them?

Broken ribs would've been the least of their worries.

Red steadied himself, eyes narrowing in dawning terror.

"He's too strong…"

For the first time, doubt crept into his voice.

"It seems I have to go all out."

A sharp glint flashed across his visor.

"It's either I die or he dies."

Although he had failed this mission and his survival was uncertain, Red still clung to a sliver of hope.

So he chose to gamble.

"Stand back," he ordered coldly. "I'll handle this."

The rest of Squad A hesitated, clearly wanting to protest. But the moment Red shot them a glare, their words died in their throats. Heads lowered, they stepped back.

Red moved forward, arrogantly discarding his Delta Enforcer behind him. He stopped a few meters from Zayne.

"I originally intended to use this power against Cruger," he said, lowering himself into a battle-ready stance.

"Who would've thought I'd meet such a strong opponent first?" His voice grew colder. "Then again… you should be proud to die under this strength. Hahaha."

He laughed with clear killing intent, as if already passing judgment.

Then—

"AAAHHH!"

A chaotic, dark aura erupted from his body.

The air turned heavy. Cold. Oppressive.

Even his own team shuddered at the sudden explosion of power.

Zayne's eyes narrowed as he felt the suffocating depth of the aura. Instantly, he activated his Morpher to scan it.

[Fragmented Sin]

[Sin of Greed]

"Another one…" Zayne muttered, his tone turning grim.

A month ago, they had dealt with another Sin—Envy.

Now Greed had surfaced. And inside a Ranger.

"I'll deal with this later," Zayne murmured, eyes locking onto Red, who was still absorbing the chaotic energy. "Let's finish this first."

Red's body overflowed with power. He threw his head back and laughed wildly.

"Hahaha! Yes… YES! This is power. Real power!"

He didn't hesitate.

Fwoosh—

He shot forward like a bullet, wind spiraling around him. In an instant, he appeared before Zayne, his leg lashing out in a vicious kick.

Zayne calmly swayed and stepped back twice, dodging with minimal movement.

Red didn't pause.

He dropped low and executed a sweeping kick, aiming to knock Zayne off balance.

Zayne responded with a smooth double backflip, neutralizing the attempt entirely. The moment he landed, he saw a fist rushing toward his face.

Unfazed.

He punched back.

Baam—

Their fists collided.

Shockwaves rippled outward, forcing both teams to take a step back from the impact.

"Hmm… C-tier strength," Zayne assessed internally. "Strong. But not enough."

Before Red could recover, Zayne clamped onto his wrist and yanked him forward, breaking his balance.

An uppercut followed.

Red howled as he was launched into the air.

Zayne pursued instantly, his figure blurring as he unleashed a barrage.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang—

Hundreds of punches rained down at blinding speed, striking from every angle. Red tried to block, crossing his arms, shifting his guard—but Zayne was simply too fast.

Too precise.

Too overwhelming.

Red was smashed back into the ground, creating a massive crater that was immediately repaired by the Innocence skill.

But he refused to stay down.

Unrelenting, Red snatched up his Delta Enforcer again. Composure no longer mattered.

He had to kill Zayne.

"DIE!" he roared, firing multiple beams wildly.

"I could say the same to you," Zayne replied coolly.

For him, this fight was almost effortless. He stood infinitely close to B-tier power. Red, even empowered by Greed, was only mid C-tier.

The difference was absolute.

Zayne drew his Omni-Blaster and fired, obliterating the incoming beams mid-air.

Ziing! Boom! Boom—

Explosions and lasers tore across the battlefield, smoke and sparks filling the area. Both moved fluidly, exchanging fire while maneuvering for advantage.

Then—

One of Zayne's shots slipped through.

It struck Red's hand.

The Delta Enforcer was blasted away.

"Oh no…" Red's eyes widened in terror.

Under his helmet, Zayne smiled.

"Oh yes."

Ziing! Ziing! Ziing!

Three precise beams shot from the Omni-Blaster, striking Red square in the chest. Sparks erupted. Mini explosions detonated across his armor.

"AHH—!"

Red screamed in agony as he was hurled backward, crashing into the pavement.

"Easy…" Zayne murmured, casually blowing smoke from the barrel of his Omni-Blaster like a gunslinger after a duel.

Behind him—

"Awesome."

"Great!"

"That was cool…"

His team couldn't help but praise him. The fight had been dazzling. Educational. Just watching had taught them something.

But Squad A felt none of that admiration.

Under their helmets, their faces had gone pale. They slowly backed away in fear.

Zayne didn't stop them.

He couldn't kill them. They were SPD Rangers. Killing them would bring consequences—ones he didn't need.

As he turned to leave—

A scream ripped through the sky.

"Summon the Zords!!!"
