Sakala Astanika –The second-year high school student was enjoying his breakfast peacefully, occasionally glancing at his phone as it buzzed with group chat messages from his friends discussing schoolwork.
"If my dream last night was real, that means Lia will push Hadi around six-thirty. So I still have time to stop it."
Kala paused for a moment while eating his fried rice.
"Ah, whatever. Who is he to me anyway? Let his death happen as fate intended."
He read another incoming message. His friends said they were about to arrive at school. Kala finished his breakfast and got ready to leave.
"Damn, I can't be late. If I am, I'll miss the style rooftop jump."
~~~~~~~
A cold-looking young man with an expressionless face had just arrived at school after stopping by a stall to buy cigarettes. By chance, he saw Kala walking down the stairs.
"What was that kid doing upstairs? Our class is downstairs," he muttered.
Something felt off, but he chose to ignore it and headed to his favorite place—the rooftop.
"That kid's acting really suspicious," he thought briefly, recalling Kala's strange movements earlier.
When he reached the rooftop, he saw another student holding a piece of paper.
"Strange. I rarely see anyone else up here this early."
The boy holding the paper turned around in surprise but quickly recognized the newcomer as **Agantha Gheovano**, one of the school's troublemakers.
"I—I'm waiting for someone," Hadi said nervously. "What about you?"
"I come here a lot to smoke. That's why this is the first time I've seen anyone else here," Gantha replied.
Hadi nodded in understanding.
"Oh, I thought you were meeting someone too. Earlier, your friend came by to pick up a bracelet he left behind."
"Who?" Gantha asked.
"I forgot his name. He didn't stay long," Hadi answered.
"Oh." Gantha replied shortly and walked toward the bench in the corner. He was already sure that Hadi was talking about Kala.
Suddenly, his eyes caught something blinking beneath the bench. He bent down to grab it—but felt a hard from behind.
Everything went dark.
"Lia!"
Hadi rushed over in shock after seeing Lia strike the back of Agantha's head with a pipe.
"What are you doing, Lia?! Why did you hit him until he passed out?" Hadi checked Gantha's condition. Thankfully, he was still breathing, though unconscious.
"I just don't want anyone else here besides us," Lia said calmly. She noticed a pen under the bench and picked it up.
Realizing it wasn't an ordinary pen, Hadi reflexively snatched it from her.
"That belongs to Agantha," He slipped it into Gantha's school blazer pocket.
"You could've just talked to him nicely if you didn't want anyone else here," Hadi said.
Lia only smiled as she looked at her boyfriend's worried face.
It really did have to be just the two of them here.
Kala was relaxing in the school garden, eating his bread, when suddenly a loud crash was followed by screams from students nearby. The atmosphere instantly turned tense.
"Ah, so the rooftop jump show is already over. The letter should be flying soon."
Kala threw the bread wrapper into a trash can, still calm—until a vision flashed through his mind.
"Tch. Looks like something changed because that red cat went to the rooftop."
He walked toward the trash can he had seen in yesterday's vision. It didn't take long before he found a letter.
"Using letters like this really is effective for luring victims. Phone chats can always be recovered even after deletion… but why would he throw the letter away inside the school?"
An announcement echoed through the school speakers, informing everyone that the next period was free. Not long after, Kala received a message from his group asking him to gather.
He didn't head there immediately. Instead, he stopped by the locker area to do something—but seeing how crowded it was, he reconsidered.
"Looks like I can't place this letter here right now."
He continued walking toward their basecamp.
~~~~~~~
Kala and his friends were now gathered in an empty classroom inside an old building that had long been abandoned.
"This free period feels kinda," Yoga said, his cheeks puffed out as he munched on snacks.
"Of course it does. Someone literally died," Dion replied—the oldest member of the group.
"Who died?" Yoan asked, placing his phone on the table and looking at them.
"If I remember correctly, he was Kala's classmate," Hasta said, looking thoughtful.
"Yeah. He was my classmate. His name was Hadi," Kala confirmed.
"Wait—Hadi? Lia's boyfriend?" Melvin asked.
"Hm." Kala replied briefly.
"Oh my God, my crush is so pitiful," Melvin said dramatically.
"Go hit on her then. She's single now," Dion joked, followed by soft laughter.
"I still have a conscience, okay? Her boyfriend just died, and you're already turning it into an opportunity," Melvin protested.
"Oh please. This *is* an opportunity," Yoga teased.
"Back to the topic," Yoan said. "Do you think he really fell—or was he pushed?"
The question instantly silenced the room. There was still no official statement from the police.
"I was wondering too," Hasta said. "When the police questioned me earlier, they asked where I was. I said the library. But before that, I went to the rooftop. I realized the rooftop has a high fence. If Hadi really fell, he should've gotten stuck on the fence first—not fallen straight down."
"Oh yeah, now that you mention it," Yoga added. "Didn't they renovate the rooftop a few months ago?"
"So the possibilities are either he was pushed or he jumped on purpose," Dion concluded.
Melvin suddenly slammed the table, breaking the tension.
"Hey—what if we investigate this ourselves?"
"If you want to be crazy, don't drag others with you," Yoan said flatly.
"Why not? We've handled school cases before without getting caught," Melvin argued.
"True," Hasta said, "but those were minor cases—lost items, small corruption stuff."
"And a suicide case like this is way more complicated," Dion added. "Don't let your sympathy for your crush drag us into trouble."
Kala remained silent. He checked his phone—and froze when he saw that the recording pen connected to it had shut down.
"The device is dead?!"
His thoughts spiraled. Had he forgotten to turn it on? If so, he'd failed to get solid evidence. Or was it on—and someone turned it off? Lia?
"Damn it… the vision was too brief. I need to check this now."
Kala stood up, but Dion suddenly spoke.
"G-guys… we just got bad news."
"What bad news?" Melvin asked.
"When the rooftop incident happened… Gantha was there too."
