Ash's POV
The weekend went by too fast.
One minute I was sitting beside my mom's hospital bed, talking to her like I hadn't been able to in so long.
Now I was standing in front of my open locker, resting my fingers against the cool metal, just…smiling.
Mom was finally awake. The thought still didn't feel real.
The doctors said she could be discharged this week.
I let out a slow breath, dropping my shoulders slightly.
Things were finally going to get easier.
For the first time in a while, it didn't feel like I was constantly trying to keep everything from falling apart.
And somehow, I knew I didn't get here alone.
No matter how I tried to ignore it, I couldn't have gotten through these past few months without….Dominic's help.
Before I could think too much about it, my hand slipped into my pocket. My phone lit up.
And then, there he was. Dominic. With that smile that never failed to melt me. My chest immediately tightened.
