Chapter 498: Another Demonic King Falls, The Bodhi Heart-Fortifying Pill!
A chain reaction followed, as a series of sharp cracking sounds echoed throughout the heavens and earth.
The thick layer of ice covering the Ninth King began to split apart, and even the Demon Emperor Armor beneath it showed numerous cracks before finally shattering completely.
Whoosh whoosh whoosh!
At that moment, one of Lin Fan's clones appeared silently. His fingers flicked rapidly, and in an instant, countless brilliant spatial blades shot forth!
Just as the Ninth King recovered from the stillness state, he sensed his Demon Emperor Armor breaking apart and was assaulted by both freezing and burning pain.
He tried to flee, but before he could escape, those countless spatial blades descended in front of his horrified eyes!
Shiiing!
The dazzling spatial blades sliced through the Ninth King's massive demonic body like tofu, effortlessly chopping it into countless pieces.
Flesh and black demonic blood scattered across the sky, only to be immediately consumed by raging flames—reduced to nothingness.
"Ahhh!"
A piercing scream echoed from within the endless sea of fire as the Ninth King's body was utterly destroyed. His demonic spirit screamed in agony as it transformed into a streak of black light and tried to flee.
Buzz!
Lin Fan's hands formed a seal, and a devouring black hole silently appeared in the path of the fleeing demonic spirit.
The Ninth King's soul, like a moth to a flame, flew right into it. The spinning vortex unleashed terrifying devouring power, pulling and tearing at the spirit relentlessly.
In the blink of an eye, the Ninth King's soul was torn apart and annihilated—vanishing completely.
Lin Fan willed his clone to return to him. With a wave of his hand, the surrounding ice, flames, and other celestial phenomena all vanished without a trace.
Having witnessed Lin Fan utterly obliterate the Ninth King, the guardian—formed from countless remnants of will—bowed deeply to him.
Not only that, but a slightly translucent figure also appeared before the group. It was the black-eyed elder from the Desolate Sect.
"Thank you, young friend. This debt cannot be repaid… Please accept this token of gratitude."
In the skies above, the elder offered his thanks. His already illusory figure soon dispersed, transforming into strange points of light that drifted toward Lin Fan.
Not only from him—many similar lights emerged from the guardian's body as well, all floating toward Lin Fan.
As Lin Fan extended his palm to touch the lights, he quickly discovered that they contained insights into the cycle of reincarnation—remnants of enlightenment from the elders of the Desolate Sect.
Though Lin Fan had already broken through to the Reincarnation Stage, these insights were still of great benefit to him.
"These light fragments hold reincarnation insights from the elders of the Desolate Sect. You can absorb some of them as well," Lin Fan said as he turned to Ling Qingzhu, Ying Huanhuan, and Jiang Xue.
Earlier, the two women had intended to help when they saw Lin Fan battling the Ninth King. But before they could intervene, the battle was already over—and Lin Fan hadn't suffered a single scratch while completely erasing his enemy.
Ying Huanhuan was particularly surprised by Lin Fan's use of the power of the Ice Ancestral Symbol.
Upon hearing Lin Fan's offer, Ying Huanhuan shook her head. "I don't need it."
She wasn't so much cultivating now as she was recovering. After breaking through to the Reincarnation Stage, a flood of past-life memories and insights had returned to her. These fragments didn't add much to her current state.
Lin Fan nodded without pressing the matter.
Three days later, everyone finished absorbing what they needed. Lin Fan could clearly feel his understanding of reincarnation deepen.
With a wave of his sleeve, space twisted—and the group reappeared outside the Desolate Monument.
Jiang Lei and the others had been waiting all this time. When they saw Lin Fan's group return, and noticed the relaxed expression on Jiang Xue's face, they finally let out a sigh of relief. The crisis had clearly been resolved.
"Uncle Jiang Lei, now that everything's settled, we'll be heading back," Lin Fan said as he stepped out from the Desolate Monument.
Jiang Lei was stunned for a moment when he heard Lin Fan was leaving. He glanced at Jiang Xue.
"Thank you for everything," Jiang Xue said softly. She cast a meaningful look at Lin Fan and then addressed the three of them.
Lin Fan smiled. As if suddenly remembering something, he reached out and ruffled Yinyin's little head. "Yinyin, go to your father for now. I need to talk to your sister."
Just then, the long-silent system voice rang out in Lin Fan's mind.
[Ding! You patted Jiang Yinyin's head and received the Bodhi Heart-Fortifying Pill! Note: After taking this pill, one may attain clarity of mind, resist worldly distraction, preserve their true self, and remain untainted by reincarnation.]
Upon hearing the system's reward, Lin Fan was inwardly delighted. Judging by the description, this pill seemed incredibly valuable!
Still, he didn't rush to check the reward.
"Okay," Jiang Yinyin nodded obediently. She glanced at her sister before skipping over to Jiang Lei's side.
"Let's go over there," Lin Fan said to Jiang Xue, then turned to Ying Huanhuan and Ling Qingzhu. "You two come as well."
With that, he walked toward a nearby open space.
The three women exchanged glances and followed him.
Lin Fan waved his hand and set up a spatial barrier around them. Then he finally spoke. "Earlier, I noticed a mark on Yinyin's forehead—it's a reincarnation mark. That means she's a reincarnator."
Ling Qingzhu and Ying Huanhuan were already aware of this and didn't comment.
But Jiang Xue's expression changed slightly. "A reincarnator? Does that mean… Yinyin will eventually be taken over by other memories?"
"Not necessarily," Lin Fan shook his head. "If she is a reincarnator, that means in her previous life, she was at least a Reincarnation Stage powerhouse. I'm telling you this so you'll be cautious. Don't let others know about Yinyin's identity."
"Especially the Demonic Race. If they find out she's a reincarnator, they'll surely strike before she regains her strength."
Jiang Xue's worry deepened. She pressed her lips together and nodded. "I'll be careful."
"Actually, as long as no one sees the mark on her forehead, it'll be hard for others to identify her," Lin Fan comforted. "If you're still uneasy, you could bring Yinyin to Dao Sect."
"…I'll discuss this with my father when I return," Jiang Xue said after a moment of silence.
Lin Fan nodded and handed her a jade slip. "If you decide to go to Dao Sect, or encounter any danger, crush this. I'll come as quickly as I can."
"Thank you," Jiang Xue hesitated slightly, then accepted the jade slip.
"Alright then, we'll be heading back. Be sure to let Uncle Jiang Lei and Yinyin know," Lin Fan said with a smile.
Jiang Xue nodded. "I will."
With that, Lin Fan tore open space and returned to the Lin Clan alongside Ling Qingzhu and Ying Huanhuan.
They stayed there for another two days before setting off again—this time with Qing Tan and Lin Dong—heading for Dao Sect together.
