Chapter 496: Reincarnation Mark, The Ninth King Appears!
"That's the guardian," Jiang Xue's expression changed slightly when she heard the voice.
Lin Fan, of course, knew exactly what was going on. Without the slightest hesitation, he waved his sleeve and shot off toward the direction of the disturbance, the three women following closely behind.
In just a few minutes, a solitary peak came into view. At its summit, a dark figure was kneeling on one knee, howling toward the heavens. A dense demonic aura surged continuously from his body.
Behind the figure, seated atop a large boulder, was a little girl in a yellow dress. She swung her snow-white legs casually, exuding a helpless aura. A soft radiance emitted from her body, enveloping the dark figure and constantly dispelling the demonic aura from him.
"Yinyin," Jiang Xue called out as she waved toward the little girl.
"Big Sister!" The girl looked up in surprise. When she saw Jiang Xue rushing toward her, her big eyes lit up, and she leapt straight into her sister's arms.
This little girl was Jiang Yinyin—Jiang Xue's younger sister and the reincarnated body of the Lord of Life and Death.
Jiang Xue smiled gently and caught her. Then, pointing toward Lin Fan, she said, "Look who's here."
Jiang Yinyin followed her gaze and saw Lin Fan smiling warmly. Her eyes flickered with recognition, and then joy blossomed across her young face. "Big Brother!"
"It's been a while, Yinyin," Lin Fan nodded with a smile, hearing her childlike voice.
Jiang Yinyin skipped over happily, her eyes glowing with delight. Just then, a gentle breeze swept through, blowing aside the hair on her forehead—and a faint, barely visible seal appeared before their eyes.
That was... the Reincarnation Mark?
Upon seeing the mark on Jiang Yinyin's forehead, both Ling Qingzhu and Ying Huanhuan's expressions subtly shifted.
Especially Ying Huanhuan—she felt an inexplicable sense of closeness to Jiang Yinyin.
"You three wait here for now," Lin Fan said, not bringing up Jiang Yinyin's identity just yet. He gave them a few instructions before flashing forward and landing atop the mountain peak.
His gaze fell upon the figure shrouded in demonic energy. Within the man's pupils, countless fragmented wills seemed to swirl chaotically. Yet amid the confusion, they all shared one common thread—protection.
"All these years, the fragmented wills wandering this space have merged into his body. He's become... something else entirely. It's hard to say what he even is anymore," Jiang Xue said softly.
Lin Fan nodded and didn't say much. He raised his hand, and suddenly, endless lightning surged out from his palm, filled with pure and violent energy.
Whoosh!
The lightning condensed into a brilliant orb and shot directly into the guardian's body. Instantly, arcs of electricity crackled from his form, and the demonic aura surrounding him was forcefully purged.
As the demonic energy was cleansed, the pain and confusion in the guardian's eyes began to fade. Slowly, a hint of chaotic clarity returned, and at last, he bowed deeply toward Lin Fan.
"No need for that," Lin Fan waved him off, halting the gesture. He held deep respect for these ancient guardians of the Desolate Sect.
"You all take Yinyin and step back," he said to the three women, then activated his lightning power with a single thought.
In an instant, thunderclouds gathered in the sky above. Countless bolts of lightning danced wildly, enveloping the entire space in a sea of thunder.
Rumble...!
The storm of lightning raged downward, striking the earth below. The pure, violent power spread through the land, sweeping away the demonic aura that lingered in the heavens and earth at an astonishing rate.
Roar!
A thunder dragon, ten thousand feet long, burst out of the clouds, roaring as it dove down and smashed into the ground.
Boom!
The entire space trembled violently as the earth split apart, revealing a massive abyss.
Within that abyss, darkness loomed—an aura of evil churned below.
Lin Fan's gaze turned icy. He raised one finger, and countless bolts of lightning shifted course, descending like a storm into the depths of the chasm.
Suddenly, a monstrous surge of demonic energy erupted from deep within, pushing back against the onslaught of lightning.
Unmoved, Lin Fan began forming seals. The thunderclouds overhead condensed, transforming into a colossal thunder sun ten thousand feet wide.
The overwhelming lightning energy thundered forth, shaking the very space.
"Go."
With a flick of his finger, Lin Fan sent the thunder sun plummeting into the abyss, lightning streaking in its wake, heating even the very air around it.
"Hmph!"
As the thunder sun descended, a cold and sinister voice echoed from below.
Then, an immense disc of demonic energy formed, rising up to meet the falling thunder sun.
Boom!
The thunder sun slammed into the demonic disc, and two terrifying forces collided with earth-shaking impact, tearing open the abyss even further. Cracks spread like spiderwebs across the ground.
Lightning burst in every direction.
Crack!
A fracture appeared on the demonic disc, rapidly spreading.
Bang!
With a loud explosion, the disc shattered!
But just as it broke apart, a giant demonic hand emerged from the depths of the abyss and struck toward the thunder sun.
Boom! Boom!
Thunder and darkness clashed again, echoing through the space in muffled booms.
After a moment of deadlock, both forces exploded simultaneously. Lightning scattered, and demonic blood sprayed.
"Ahhh!"
The demonic hand shattered, and from the bottom of the chasm came a roar laced with pain and fury. "Damn it... this is the Thunder Ancestral Symbol...!"
As the voice faded, a wave of demonic energy surged up from the abyss. A dark silhouette slowly emerged from within.
As the figure stepped out of the black mist, a pale yet elegant face came into view, twisted with a strange expression.
"The Thunder Ancestral Symbol? I don't carry that," Lin Fan said mildly, shaking his head. Then he looked at the figure and asked calmly, "And you... which King of the Demon Prison are you?"
Of course, Lin Fan already knew who he was—but he was playing dumb for the sake of Ling Qingzhu and the others.
"Oh? You seem to know a fair bit about the Demon Prison. Looks like things have gotten interesting out there in the past few years. Hmph, I suppose the timing is about right," the dark figure said with mild surprise, then continued, "In the Demon Prison, I am ranked ninth."
"The Ninth King, huh?" Lin Fan said with a faint smile. "Looks like you've nearly broken free from the seal placed here by the ancient Desolate Sect guardians."
"You were trying to leak your demonic energy out—to alert the Demon Prison of your location and have them come rescue you. But it seems... your luck isn't that great."
