Chapter 16 - Grandma's Home

Even several meters away from the restroom, Dave could still hear Professor Abby's loud laughter.

It didn't take long for Dave to reach his classroom. "Oh, Dave, where were you, bro?" Jimmy asked, drawing the attention of half the class—mostly girls who stared at him intently, never once looking away.

Dave smiled without answering as he took out his early dismissal pass. "Holy moly, man, I need one of those too," Jimmy said, putting on a puppy-dog face, but Kenia standing nearby punched him in the shoulder.

"Hey, what's your problem?" Jimmy complained, rubbing his shoulder.

"See you in a couple of hours," Dave reminded him before gathering his things and leaving the classroom. "Sure, bro, I'll be there with my dad, no doubt." He then walked unhurriedly out of the classroom, heading toward the entrance.

On his way out, he ran into Professor Elrick escorting several boys toward the administration building; they had taken such a beating that their faces were swollen and distorted.

A teacher stopped Dave just meters from the entrance, but the boy simply showed his pass before heading out to the parking lot.

Since he was leaving early, he had to walk several hundred meters to the public transport stop to get home.

The bus dropped him off a few blocks away.

"I'm home," he shouted as he walked in, finding Elena sitting at the dining table looking terrible; she was wearing a robe and had an ice pack on her head. "Did you get expelled?" She ask.

Dave shook his head repeatedly, pulled the dismissal pass from his pocket, and handed it to her. "They let me leave early."

"Oh, wow, how considerate.." Elena remarked as she checked and read the pass in her hand.

"By the way, your grandmother just called; she wants you to bring her some groceries.." She pointed to the list on the table.

"Grandma Camila..." The woman at the table shook her head a couple of times. "It's your grandmother Dora, your father's mother." Elena adjusts the ice pack on her forehead as she speaks, then adds, "Your aunts are coming to visit.."

Dave frowns before looking at Elena; she simply shrugs, though her gaze drifts to his crotch.. "I don't blame them; they want a car and a house of their own, too." Her voice carries a note of reproach.

Dave can only roll his eyes at Elena's explanation. "I'd be better off just transferring the money to you and letting you handle them."

Elena snorts and narrows her eyes. "Why didn't you do that with Olivia and her daughter Gladys?"

Cornered, Dave lets out an awkward laugh, his mouth twisting into a grimace; just then, he seems to remember something and remarks, "You need to start exercising."

"Why the hell would I do something so stupid.?" the woman complains loudly, her expression shifting to one of annoyance. "Me, exercising? As if."

"Because it accelerates the awakening process, allowing you to become a Hunter—unless you plan on staying in this place forever," the boy tells her.

Elena springs to her feet upon discovering the secret to awakening the meridians in her body. "You're lying to me." Dave shakes his head repeatedly.

Elena's eyes widen in astonishment as she reviews recent events, realizing how central Dave's actions have been to them all.

"Are you sure.?" Dave nods slowly and warns., "You have to be careful about who you tell regarding these advantages, or I'll end up in serious trouble."

"Of course, son." Elena pauses, then corrects herself: "I mean... Dave." Her cheeks flush red and recalling something else, she asks, "Can I... mention any of this to my daughters?"

Dave shrugs and adds... "It's not a problem for me; I don't necessarily *have* to screw your daughters for them to become hunters—though that would certainly speed up the whole process..."

Elena rolls her eyes at his remark; she knows exactly what her three daughters and even her daughter-in-law, will do once they find out they can awaken their talent as hunters whit only fuck Dave. "Okay, if it happens, it happens; just try not to do it in front of their mother..."

Dave nods. "Right, fair enough. And what about you.?"

"About what.?"

"Your marriage, the house, or us.?"

"Your father is a closed chapter; he no longer has a place in my life. If he wants this house, he can keep it, it's all his. I'll go live with your grandmother, or one of my sisters... or what.? Don't you plan on giving your poor mother a place to stay.?" Elena says this with a tone of distress, but the smile playing on her lips gives her away..

Dave rolls his eyes again, and Elena finishes by saying, "Now go, because your Aunt Olivia is about to arrive with Gladys..." Dave nods and turns back toward his room to grab the car keys.

Dave walks back pass, Elena calls out from the kitchen, "You don't want to take the Shelby.?"

Dave replies without stopping, "No, I'll take the Porsche..." He heads out of the house again, but halfway there, he remembers the grocery list and turns back to get it.

Upon opening the door and stepping back inside, he runs into Elena just a few paces in; she is holding the list. She reminds him, "Don't take too long.." Elena then moves closer to him, lifting her face and offering her lips. "Mnn," she moans as she feels his hands gripping her backside.

After a quick kiss, Elena takes the opportunity to straighten his shirt and adds, "Now go—your aunt is about to arrive... unless, of course, you want your cousin Gladys to tag along."

Dave gives a reluctant smile; if his cousin Gladys were to join him on what should be a simple one-hour round trip, it could easily turn into a four- or five-hour ordeal.

After giving Elena a couple of playful slaps on the backside...

Dave finally says goodbye with another brief kiss. "Alright, I'm off. I'll be back soon." He heads out the door straight to the car parked at the curb in front of the house.

On his way to his grandmother Dora's place, he stops at a supermarket to pick up everything on the grocery list, getting back on the road twenty minutes later.

Dora is outside, sitting on her old porch; a few paces behind her, her husband Bill is eating an apple, while leaning against the doorframe. "Relax, woman; the boy will get here," Bill said, seeing how nervous his wife was.

"And what if he doesn't.?" the woman asked, looking somewhat distressed.

Bill let out a deep sigh, remembering how his son Robert had just left his family for another woman several years his junior wife. He took a bite of an apple and spoke with his mouth full, gazing out at the arid land in front of the house: "Well, if the boy doesn't show up, I'll have to call one of my other sons or sons-in-law to send us some money so we can stock the pantry this month in a worst-case scenario, I'll borrow money from acquaintances or the bank."

"By the way, when the hell do you plan to fix that protruding nail.?" The woman pointed to a nail sticking out of one of the posts.

"Soon, woman, soon." Before moving away from the doorway, he saw a car approaching along the road, leaving a huge cloud of dust in its wake. "Look, woman, look—I think someone's coming." Old Bill pointed toward the dust cloud in the distance.

"Wow, I don't think that's my grandson Dave; that boy doesn't even own a car.," the old man Bill said. Seeing that the vehicle appeared to be new,..Dora added, "I think the driver must be lost."

"Don't even say that," Bill remarked with a laugh. Then the car stopped and Dave stepped out, greeting his grandparents with a smile before going to open the trunk. "Shit, it's Dave—the kid is Dave," old Bill said, laughing again.

"Why don't you help bring in those boxes, you old fool.?" Dora asked, remaining seated but unable to hide the smile on her lips.

"What are you saying, woman.? Why not let the boy do all the work.? That way, those other old fools will know my grandson came to visit in his new ca.r," Bill commented with another hearty laugh.

Dave set the boxes of groceries down in front of the house before closing the trunk. The elderly couple was already waiting in front of the house to welcome the boy; after a brief exchange of greetings, Bill picked up one of the boxes and went inside.

Dora was leading her grandson Dave by the arm, but before they could enter, the boy said, "Wait a moment, Grandma." He turned around to fetch one of the boxes of groceries, but as he reached for it, he snagged his finger on a protruding nail. "Ah."

"What happened?" Dora asked, immediately stepping closer.

"It's nothing... Grandma," Dave said. But upon seeing the wound on his finger, Grandma Dora didn't let him finish speaking; she grabbed his hand and put the finger in her mouth.

The grandmother moved incredibly fast—it happened in mere seconds. But Dave's eyes went wide as he watched the counter above Grandma Dora's head jump from 0 to 100 after she licked the blood from his finger. Yet, things were only just beginning, for within seconds, every wrinkle on the old woman's face vanished.

The grandmother began sucking the boy's finger with genuine enthusiasm, hinting at something else, but the boy's voice interrupted her: "Grandma, your face."

"What's wrong with..." the old woman began, touching the skin of her face; her voice trailed off as she turned around and ran into the house.

"What's going on.?" Old Bill asked. Not seeing the old woman. "And your grandma.?"

Dave shrugged. "I don't know; she ran into the house.." The boy pretended to know nothing about it.

Bill snorted in annoyance. "Dora.? Dora.?"

"In the bathroom," came a distant voice Dora's voice answering him..

"There she is.," Old Bill said with a smile before asking the boy, "How have you been, kid.? And is that car yours, or your brother's.?"

"It's mine, Grandpa, all mine.," the boy replied.

"Let's get those boxes inside and go to the living room to have a proper chat..." But before Old Bill could sit down, his wife's voice rang out: "Why don't you go into town and buy some sodas and beers to offer Dave.?"

Old Bill stammered in response. It wasn't that he didn't want to go to town or use the excuse to take the car for a spin, but rather that he didn't have any money at home to make the purchase.

In fact, Old Bill did have money stashed away, but it was for a real emergency.

It would be better if his wife used her money to entertain the boy. Seeing his grandfather's dilemma, Dave pulled several bills out of one of the boxes and showed them to Old Bill.

Before the boy could speak, Old Bill asked him to keep it a secret, took the bills, and said aloud... "I'll be right back; Dave is going to lend me his car." With that, old man Bill held out his hand, asking his grandson for the keys to the Porsche 911; moments later, the old man got in and started the car.
