Aiden rested his arm on the throne's gilded armrest, his blue eyes fixed on the five women kneeling before him. Tali sat comfortably on his lap, but the little bunny girl's earlier excitement had faded. Her fluffy ears drooped as she remembered the screams, the blood, and the people who had never returned to their families.
"Your Lord ordered you to attack?" Aiden asked.
"Yes, Master." Vespera swallowed nervously. "She commanded our pack to enter the village and bring the Bunny Folks under her control. We were to ensure that they provided food for us regularly."
"Food," Ayani repeated.
The word escaped her lips so quietly that it almost went unnoticed.
She stood beside Aiden's throne, her bunny ears held rigidly upright. Her fingers had curled into fists, and her eyes remained fixed on Vespera.
"You mean… us?"
Vespera's ears flattened.
