Damien sat in his office, the afternoon light streaming through the tall windows, casting golden patterns across the polished oak of his desk. Before him lay a stack of reports, each one carefully prepared by Loki's ever-efficient hands. He picked up the first document, his eyes scanning the densely packed text.
The changes in Orario were nothing short of miraculous.
The improved life and situation of the people. The massive growth of the economy. The gods...once bitter rivals who worked tirelessly to undermine one another, now collaborated, their combined efforts raising Orario to heights never before imagined. Every sector had contributed, every Familia had found its niche, and the result was a city that thrived.
Damien set the report down, a sense of deep satisfaction settling over him.
But one thing had shocked him more than anything else.
Aphrodite had become the highest earner in the city.
He read the details again, disbelief flickering through him. The Goddess of Love had somehow transformed her domain into a financial empire, generating wealth that flowed directly into Orario's treasury. Her first innovation was the Courtesan Guild....an organization that provided protection and safe environments for prostitutes across the city. Respectable pay. The right to refuse any client they did not approve of, or any with a history of violence.
It was revolutionary. No longer were these women vulnerable to abuse or exploitation. They had rights. They had protection. They had dignity.
But that was not all.
Aphrodite had practically invented strip clubs in Orario. She called them "The God-King's Beauty Houses"...a name that made Damien wince every time he heard it. Inside, women danced, enticed, and entertained patrons for entry fees and tips. Guards patrolled the premises. Rule books were distributed to every customer. And each girl working there was known, officially or not, as one of "The God-King Damien's Personal Concubines."
That particular detail had caused quite the stir.
The reasoning was simple: no adventurer, no matter how drunk or arrogant, would dare harm a woman who belonged to the God-King. The title was a shield, a deterrent, a warning. And it worked.
But then Aphrodite had taken things further.
She had trained all her girls in sex work....specifically, how to service the king. She had even posted signs declaring that the God-King was allowed to use them anywhere and everywhere, that they were his total sex slaves.
Damien had punished her for that.
Thoroughly and Repeatedly... In ways she absolutely loved.
He had told her not to do it again. But when he had ordered the signs removed, every single girl had refused. They wanted that. They had signed up for it. They had begged to keep the signs.
Damien had convinced himself that Aphrodite had brainwashed them somehow. He had shrugged it off, deciding it was not worth the fight.
The other thing Aphrodite had done was create a festival.
A three-month cycle celebration....a holiday that repeated four times a year. Entertainment, games, women, drinks...all handed out and enjoyed freely. It had become a day everyone wished would come sooner. The last festival alone had generated so much money from merchandise that it had single-handedly funded a new district of housing for the poor.
The highest-earning item, of course, was a wooden figurine.
It was beautifully painted, depicting Damien slaying the One-Eyed Black Dragon. It had become a symbol of Orario's triumph, a keepsake every citizen wanted. Even though, technically, it was Ais who had delivered the final blow.
Damien had considered correcting that detail. He had decided against it. The people needed their symbols, and he was willing to be one.
He set the report down and picked up the next one.
This one was different.
It was from Kali. And the smile faded from his face as he read.
...
The Meeting Hall
...
The hall was quieter than usual, the bustling energy replaced by a tension that hung in the air like a storm cloud. Damien sat at the head of the table, his expression unreadable. Kali had planted herself in his lap the moment he had sat down, her small frame pressing against him.
Loki shot her a look. "Kali. Focus."
Kali grinned, her hips grinding slowly, deliberately. The thin fabric of her scandalous panties—barely more than a scrap of silk—dragged against Damien's lap with every movement, a deliberate, teasing friction that she made no effort to hide.
"I am focusing, Loki," she purred. "On something very important."
"Kali—"
"Relax." Kali leaned close to Damien's ear, her breath warm against his skin. "I can multitask." Her voice dropped to a whisper. "You know, I could go under the table right now. Keep my mouth busy while the adults talk. Would you like that, my God-King?"
Damien's hand came down on her ass with a sharp crack. "Report. Now."
Kali pouted, but there was a glint of genuine pleasure in her eyes. "Fine, fine. But later, you owe me."
She shifted, still in his lap, but her expression grew serious. "My guild has been scouting the outer territories. The Old Gods have returned. And they are not hiding."
Loki leaned forward. "What do you mean?"
"I mean they are using Arcanum freely," Kali said. "No restrictions. No consequences. They are not even trying to hide it."
Freya's golden eyes narrowed. "That is impossible. Ouranos's pact—"
"Has been circumvented," Kali interrupted. "Somehow. And that is not all." She paused, letting the weight of her words settle. "They are building an army. An army of demi-gods."
Silence fell over the room.
Damien's hand stilled on Kali's hip. "Demi-gods?"
"Children born of mortal vessels," Kali explained. "Each one capable of channeling divine power. They are not as strong as a true god, but they are far beyond any mortal adventurer. And there are hundreds of them....Just like Alcy"
Loki's face was pale. "They are planning an invasion."
"Obviously," Kali said. "The question is when. And how."
Damien turned to Freya. "Start preparing for war. I want our defenses ready, our generals briefed, and our forces mobilized."
Freya nodded, but her expression was troubled. "In terms of soldiers and command, we are beyond prepared. The problem..." She hesitated. "When Ouranos learned of this, he told me the rules were not broken. The gods must have either used some loophole, or faked it."
Kali shifted in Damien's lap, her voice thoughtful. "I may have an idea."
Damien's hand rested on her hip, steadying her. "What is it?"
She explained. "Once, long ago, I studied dragons and their usage of Avatars. I tried to recreate the technique myself, hoping to grant my Amazons a similar power. I failed miserably." She paused. "But the Old Gods... Perhaps they did not fail."
Vritra, standing in the corner with her arms crossed, spoke up. "The creation of Avatars is not something simple. In our history, the invention of Avatars was Antares's idea. To this day, he is the only one who can perform it." She paused. "If there is another who can... it must be a very, very powerful mage."
Kali nodded slowly. "I feared losing my Familia if I sent them to scout closer. But if you ask, Damien, I will."
Damien's response was immediate. "No."
Kali looked up at him, surprised.
"I will scout it myself. By sending my Shadows. They are replaceable." He met her eyes. "You should never think of sacrificing your Familia. Not for me. Not for anyone."
Kali's expression softened. Something warm flickered in her crimson eyes. "Every word of yours," she whispered, "makes me want you more."
Before Damien could respond, she turned in his lap and kissed him—hard. Her arms wrapped around his neck, her body pressing against his. When she pulled back, her voice was breathless.
"We need to do it. Now."
Damien sighed. He looked at Loki. At Freya. "The meeting is over, then?"
Loki's fingers began to unbutton her blouse. "I think it can wait."
Freya's lips curved into a knowing smile. "We have more important matters to attend to."
Kali laughed. Her hand slid down her own stomach, slipping beneath the waistband of her scandalous panties. She touched herself slowly, deliberately, her fingers gliding through her slick folds.
"See how wet you made me?" she murmured, pulling her hand back to show him the glistening evidence on her fingers. "Every word. Every single word."
She pressed her wet fingers to his lips.
"Now stop being so responsible and let me show you how grateful I am."
Damien held Kali by her ass and stood, lifting her with him. She wrapped her legs around his waist, laughing, kissing his neck. Loki and Freya followed, their bodies pressing close.
The meeting was clearly over.
