"You were stronger than I thought. If I were a normal wizard like before, I would have had trouble with you,"
I said, sitting on top of the bear's corpse. It had excellent endurance. I bombarded it with small bursts of fire and wind cuts, but none of them knocked it down. I used what little I knew about sword skills and cut off its head... Or something like that. I'm not skilled enough with the sword and ended up bending it by using too much force.
"The problem is the rest of your friends."
I could sense several presences among the trees. The bear must be in the B or B+ range. They won't attack after I cut off the head of such a strong creature.
I still have a long way to go before I reach the city. The idea of asking someone traveling by cart or something for help crossed my mind, but I would have to give them a percentage of the sale for the trip, and I'm too greedy for that.
"I can also take it slowly, running the risk of the creatures feeding on what I leave behind."
Hmmm... Since that's the case, I'll leave it near the city and run to the guild. I hope no one notices.
With my little plan already made, I carried the crystal on my head and took it to the outskirts of the city.
I reached the city in no time, so I left the crystal and ran to the guild.
I opened the door with a bang and ran to the guild leader's office.
"I have something that will be worth a lot of money!"
I needed to get his attention as quickly as possible, and mentioning money makes anyone look up. Just as I thought, the leader looked at me instantly. It was the elf I had seen before at the meeting.
"What do you mean?"
"I got a huge mana crystal, come with me and I'll show it to you."
I didn't waste any time listening to the elf and went back to where I had left the crystal. It was no surprise to see several creatures on top of or near the crystal.
"Get out of here!"
I didn't let any of them escape and raised a wall of fire around them, incinerating the weakest ones and scaring the rest away.
"What...? How did you do that?"
I had been busy cleaning up and hadn't noticed that the guild leader was already behind me. How fast is he?
"I went hunting some creatures and found a hidden cave. Unfortunately, there was only one crystal, and it was this one."
I approached the crystal, guiding the elf behind me. I'm grateful for being so quick to lie.
"It's very large... And it seems purer than normal crystal."
I nodded at the elf's words, smiling at him as I watched him approach the mana crystal.
"The color alone is proof of its purity. Now, do you want to buy it?"
The guild leader turned around, staring at me.
"You've only been here a day and you've made more money than a high-level adventurer. Keep it up."
He approached me and put his hand on my shoulder, smiling proudly. I'm not interested in your compliments, I want money.
"Let's take it to the dwarves, they'll get the most out of it."
I nodded happily, already raising the crystal above my head alongside the leader. We walked back to the city, attracting all kinds of stares. It's the first time I haven't avoided all these stares.
In no time, you arrive at a large workshop, with several dwarves and beastmen working in unison.
I wasn't interested in the things they could make, so I asked for the money straight away.
"They can make high-quality weapons or tools. I can give you 30 gold coins and have an expensive weapon made."
My eyes lit up when I heard how much money they could give me, as well as a strong weapon. I've already decided what I want.
"A sword would be useful."
On the way, I thought long and hard about which weapon to invest all my money in, and I chose the sword. But since they'll pay me and also give me a weapon, I'll be able to buy a magic staff later.
With everything ready, I went to the inn where I had woken up that very morning. I threw the sword on the floor and sat down on the bed, taking the little gula out of my pocket.
"You don't look very well."
Now it could barely hold itself together, melting in my hand like water. I took a piece of mana crystal out of my pocket and gave it to him, along with a small rainbow sphere that I had extracted from the bear I had killed earlier.
"Feed and live, I can't let you die so easily."
The little purple mass moved slowly toward the mana crystal, surrounding it with its body and consuming it little by little. It did the same with the sphere, taking even longer with it.
Shortly after devouring them, its figure became more solid, creating a small, barely visible bone.
"You look much better."
I smiled at the little creature, who soon disassembled and returned to being a purple slime.
"Now that I think about it, you didn't have eyes. I'll have to buy some from animals so you can sign yours."
I left little Gula at the table and went outside to buy the necessary food. If I had known from the start that she would become a companion, I wouldn't have crushed her whole body.
It took a few minutes, but I had stocked up on bones, eyes, and some entrails. She has already fed on several souls, so it won't be long before she can change shape.
I returned to the inn and took the things I had bought out of the cloth bag, putting everything on the table and watching the ugly slime feed.
