…Nobody planned it. Koda had work, Reed had a deadline, and Zack was still asleep at two in the afternoon. That left Zeph, who looked up from his book like a man who'd just lost a bet.
"Fine," he said. "But I'm bringing my book."
"You can't read and walk." I remember telling him, and he smiled smugly.
"Watch me."
He lasted three minutes. Then he tripped over a tree root, swore under his breath, and shoved the book into his coat pocket. I tried not to laugh.
