Elián;
The house is loud.
I hear it before we even reach the door. There's music thumping through the walls, somebody yelling about a missing remote, a pan clattering, and a voice somewhere behind it all, shouting "I SAID NO ONION IN THE SAUCE" in the tone of a man who has said it many times before, and every time has been ignored.
Leo stops on the front step with his keys in his hand and rubs a palm down his face.
"I'm so sorry you got dragged into this. It's not too late to change your mind." He tries to persuade me, and I give him a look.
"I'm not changing my mind. I've had hospital food for way too long. I'm not passing up the chance to get good food." I reply, and he smiles wryly.
"They're a lot." He says like he's sorry, and I smile at him. I think I'm glad I never had siblings to embarrass me.
"I know how to handle a lot," I answer, and he raises a brow with a mischievous glint now in his eyes.
