UK:GSW Chapter 374: Sasuke's Art Style Turns into a Blue Sea from Grand Blue, and Itachi's Heartache (Part 2)
Sasuke suddenly felt as if he had truly understood what kind of person Itachi was.
This older brother, who once appeared to him as cruel, powerful, and unmatched in cunning, was not actually that cruel or powerful—and not even that smart.
Or rather, he had not applied his intelligence in the right place.
Having once been Batman, Sasuke's way of thinking had already changed from before. He could now view things from a higher perspective, and in this moment, he fully realized that intelligent people with insufficient knowledge and low perspective were just fools who fancied themselves as smart—and such people could cause tremendous damage.
A guy like Itachi, if thrown into Gotham City, would be the type to spend his whole life forming a band with the various patients at Arkham Asylum.
At that thought, Sasuke's heart stirred, and a new idea came to mind.
He remembered how he had always been manipulated by Itachi, treated as an immature child whose fate was controlled, expected to follow a path prearranged for him—done in the name of "love," yet completely disregarding his own opinions.
This truth left him angry and frustrated, a feeling he had been bottling up for years.
Now, seeing Itachi a little out of composure, Sasuke felt it was time to collect some interest.
Thus, while inwardly showing a predatory grin straight out of Grand Blue, Sasuke responded to Itachi's words with a cold expression:
"Uchiha Madara—you mean the ancestor of the Uchiha clan? What? That guy's not dead yet?"
"However, I did meet an Uchiha, and with the help of an Uchiha, I learned a lot and gained great power. This Wood Style Cola was given to me by that Uchiha."
His words referred to seeing a parallel world's Uchiha, and the one who had helped him was Uchiha Kei. Every part of it was true—no lies.
But with the information Itachi possessed, it was inevitable that he would misunderstand.
Indeed, Itachi immediately assumed the Uchiha Sasuke spoke of must be that "Uchiha Madara," the mysterious masked man. The masked man must have concealed his identity from Sasuke, which would explain Sasuke's doubt about Madara's existence.
Itachi's tone grew grave:
"Sasuke, that man cannot be trusted."
Sasuke sneered:
"Tch, as if your words could be trusted. Itachi, isn't the biggest liar you?"
Itachi's brows furrowed slightly, his fingers unconsciously tightening before he forced himself to relax.
"Sasuke, how much do you know?"
Sasuke:
"I know a lot. Including the truth about the clan massacre."
Itachi's Sharingan instantly shifted into Mangekyo form before withdrawing just as quickly.
Though brief, it was extremely rare for Itachi to show such a reaction—clear evidence of how shaken he was.
And Itachi indeed had reason to be agitated. He had agreed with the masked man "Uchiha Madara" not to tell Sasuke the truth about the clan's destruction. Yet that man had broken their agreement, approached Sasuke before Itachi's death, and done many things behind his back.
Itachi's heart surged with shock and anger, and he wanted nothing more than to find the masked man immediately and fight him to the death.
But given his current state, it was almost impossible—his body truly couldn't hold out, and Sasuke was standing right in front of him.
For now, his priority was to calm Sasuke down.
Thus, the Itachi who had originally planned to die by Sasuke's hand now had a new plan. His voice turned deep:
"Sasuke, I don't know exactly what that man told you. But his words are not worth believing. There may be truths in them, but many things are absolutely false."
Sasuke replied calmly:
"Not worth believing? No. I think the Uchiha who told me these things is worth believing. At least, he wouldn't lie to me. He treats me as a mature adult, willing to tell me the truth and let me make my own decisions with my own will."
"Itachi, you don't need to say any more. Compared to him, you are the one who lies the most, the one most unworthy of trust."
His calm tone was like a knife stabbing into Itachi's heart, giving this man—once praised for having the mindset of a Hokage—the feeling of a boomerang from the past finally returning to smash into him.
Then, in this very situation, Sasuke suddenly made his move—five kunai flew from his hands at incredible speed, crackling with white lightning arcs.
Clearly, these kunai were infused with Lightning Style chakra.
Caught off guard by the sudden attack, Itachi was struck—but with a "Bang!" and a puff of white smoke, his body turned into a wooden log: the most basic Substitution Jutsu.
In the next instant, Itachi had reappeared ten meters away, suppressing his urgency as he tried to persuade Sasuke:
"Sasuke, I know you resent me greatly, and I've never expected you to forgive me. But what I'm telling you now is the truth—that Uchiha who told you everything only wants to control you!"
Sasuke knew Itachi's misunderstanding ran deep, but his mischievous streak was now in full swing. Listening to Itachi's desperate persuasion filled him with an indescribable satisfaction, venting much of the anger and frustration he had carried for years of lies and mistreatment.
Feigning disdain, Sasuke continued:
"Same old lines, Itachi. Don't you have anything else to say?"
"Well, I guess not. A guy like you will always think you're so smart, believing those eyes of yours can see through everything."
"But the truth is, Itachi, you understand nothing and see nothing clearly. Even after all these years, you're no different from when you personally destroyed the Uchiha clan—just a conceited man who thinks others' vision and wisdom can never match your own."
"You know what? In my eyes now, you're nothing more than a living clown—mentally ill, someone the ninja world can't tolerate. The only place fit for you is Arkham Asylum in Gotham City!"
With those words, Sasuke unleashed what fans have dubbed the most merciful jutsu in the ninja world—Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu—aimed straight at Itachi.
Itachi's expression darkened as he quickly formed seals, countering with his own Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu.
The two massive fireballs collided midair, exploding together in a fiery blast wave that forced both brothers to step back.
By now, Itachi clearly understood Sasuke's determination to fight him. Even without knowing what Gotham City or Arkham Asylum were, Sasuke's fierce and killing-intent-filled attacks proved that even knowing the truth of the massacre, he would not forgive him.
This reality pained Itachi deeply, his heart weighed down even more.
At this point, Itachi no longer expected to persuade Sasuke with words. He began to consider whether he should use Shisui's Mangekyo right now to alter Sasuke's thoughts.
