UK:GSW Chapter 359 – Sasuke: It's Time to Settle Things with Itachi

After Number Two Danzo Shimura was taken down, his Root organization was no longer a threat.

Especially when the young Kakashi Hatake, holding the Fifth Hokage Tsunade's written order, announced that Danzo had been captured and that he was authorized to conduct a thorough investigation of Root—declaring that anyone who resisted would be branded a rogue ninja and dealt with ruthlessly—the leaderless Root collapsed like a bunker made of sand.

Of course, some still tried to resist, but it was useless—when Sai, the long-planted double agent, decisively struck and righteously stabbed those who still resisted in the back, the outcome was sealed.

It had to be said: Danzo's brainwashing and indoctrination of Root members had been thorough. So thorough that, when faced with this situation, most Root members had no independent will. After a few of his closest aides were eliminated, the rest surrendered quietly, awaiting their fate.

Some even, upon realizing Danzo was truly finished, turned into guides—personally leading ANBU to collect evidence of Danzo's crimes against the village. It was like a replay of Root's downfall in the main world.

Truly, in any world, Danzo Shimura's rule was utterly unpopular.

When all the terrible things Danzo had done were unearthed, the people of Number Two Leaf were horrified. Even though they had already heard from the main world delegation that "Danzo Shimura" was insane, it was only when they uncovered the details that they understood just how monstrous he had been.

The secret persecutions of village citizens, the countless tragic deaths—these records filled the ANBU conducting the raid with unquenchable fury.

Though ANBU were known for being cold, nameless, and loyal only to the Hokage, in reality they were flesh-and-blood people with their own personalities. Most served for only a few years before moving on to other duties—many elite Leaf shinobi like Kakashi had once been ANBU.

So when they saw Root's atrocities, their anger was hard to contain.

Still, professional discipline held; they pressed on, seething but controlled, digging out every last misdeed.

And as they dug, they uncovered secrets involving the great bloodline clans of the Leaf—Uchiha Sharingan, Hyuga Byakugan, Senju body research reports, Hashirama cells, and the hidden techniques of various clans.

Finding these things didn't just make the ANBU angry—it made their skin crawl. Especially when some documents directly proved Root's involvement in the Uchiha Clan Massacre.

The ANBU felt as though their heads might explode—this was a massive, tangled conspiracy. Should they keep digging? If they did, something huge was bound to happen.

This wasn't just Danzo's evil—it was the shame and darkness of the Leaf itself. If exposed, it would shatter trust between the great clans and the village leadership.

But Kakashi, in charge of the raid, simply ordered them to continue. Tsunade's stance was the same: follow Kakashi's lead completely.

And so, they pressed on.

The digging revealed more of Danzo's past crimes: persecution of the orphanage, and his secret alliance with Hanzo of the Rain to attack the original Akatsuki. The reason? Danzo had learned that one of Akatsuki's members, Nagato, possessed the Rinnegan, and he coveted that power.

Though he failed, the records showed that Akatsuki's original leader, Yahiko, had died in this scheme.

Upon reading this, both versions of Jiraiya were enraged.

The younger Jiraiya's anger was tempered by relief—after all, in the main world, Akatsuki was now deeply allied with the Leaf through the Leaf Game Company, thriving in the Land of Rain, poised to take control of it. With the main world's Danzo already gone, Akatsuki would only have to face Hanzo, with Leaf support—a sure victory.

For the older Jiraiya of the Number Two world, there was only rage and heartbreak—these were his disciples who had been harmed, and it was the first time he learned Akatsuki had been founded by his three students.

The records said Yahiko was dead. What about Nagato and Konan?

At that moment, the older Jiraiya wanted to go to the Rain Village headquarters of Akatsuki immediately. If not for the arrival of the main world delegation, he would already have gone—just as in the original timeline, to what would have been his final battle.

Now, history had changed. Even if he still went, some things would no longer happen the same way.

For now, the priority was finishing the Root raid and cleanup.

Relevant intel was quickly relayed to the main world via Uchiha Kei's shadow clone.

When Uchiha Kei learned of it, he told Sasuke Uchiha after the latter finished his day's session in the Learning Space.

Yes—Sasuke now had access to the Learning Space. Having already experienced "I Became Batman After Crossing Worlds," it was only natural not to waste that and send him in to study.

At first Sasuke resisted, thinking he wouldn't learn much. But upon learning that the main world's Fourth Hokage, Orochimaru, and others had all studied here and grown immensely, he was intrigued.

The clincher? Learning that the Number Two world's Naruto had studied here and now completely outclassed him in both intellect and strength.

After all, of all people to lose to, it couldn't be Naruto. That was the eternal bond between Leaf friends!

Since awakening his Mangekyo Sharingan, Sasuke had been immersed in his studies.

His teammates Suigetsu and Jugo were meanwhile obsessed with the genjutsu games—Suigetsu with competitive titles like Ultimate Ninja Storm, Jugo with peaceful games like Homeworld, where he could build houses and enjoy calm free from his berserk Sage Chakra.

Karin Uzumaki had tried the games but soon focused on studying instead—specifically, knowledge of the Uzumaki Clan under Kushina Uzumaki's guidance.

Her "mother" figure, Kikyō Uzumaki, couldn't accompany her daily due to work, but joined in at night with Kushina to teach and accompany her in the "Great Genjutsu World."

For Karin, these were the most beautiful and fulfilling days of her life.

Though she knew Kikyō wasn't her real mother, having such a maternal presence was a comfort and blessing. Knowing Kikyō's current happy life, she sincerely wished her well. For the first time since her real mother's death, she felt she had a home—and both Kikyō and Kushina told her she could settle in the main world's Leaf for a happy life, never needing to return to suffer in the Number Two world.

But Karin refused—she wanted to stay with Sasuke. Even if they never ended up together, just being by his side and helping him was enough.

To her, Sasuke was the boy who saved her like a hero when she was on the brink of death, both of them only thirteen at the time. That moment branded him as her "white moonlight" and savior.

Her love was the steadfast, burning kind the Uzumaki were known for—even in the original, after being betrayed and nearly killed by Sasuke, she never wavered, staying single her whole life even after he married Sakura Haruno.

Many believed that if Naruto had been the one to save Karin back then, she might have been much happier.

Kikyō and Kushina, themselves Uzumaki, understood this all too well.

Uchiha Kei, on the other hand, felt optimistic—Sasuke's fate with Sakura wasn't set in stone here, and as Karin's self-proclaimed stepfather, he would help her. With his "elder" status secure, Sasuke would follow tradition in such matters.

In any case, Snake Team's situation was as such.

When Sasuke learned Danzo had been captured and Root destroyed, he was silent for a while, then asked Kei:

"Uncle Kei, will Danzo be publicly tried after I return to my original world?"

Kei nodded. "Yes. The Leaf there has arranged it. The truth about the Uchiha Clan Massacre and much more will be revealed."

Sasuke frowned. "Won't that also expose the Uchiha's planned coup? What about the clan's honor…?"

Kei shook his head. "What's done is done. And the coup had many causes—it wasn't all the clan's fault. You've studied enough to know you can't look at things one-sidedly. As the last Uchiha of that world, if you want revenge and to clear your clan's name, you must reveal everything, then have history judge it.

Remember, Sasuke—there's a big difference between starting a rebellion willingly and being forced into it. The former looks like ambition; the latter makes people mourn and hate the ones who caused it.

For Danzo, having his ideology completely denied and spat on will hurt more than killing him.

On the day of the trial, the First and Second Hokage will attend to give the final verdict.

Of course, if you want to execute Danzo yourself, everyone agrees that's your right."

Sasuke was silent again, then looked at Kei with complex gratitude. He knew the world wasn't black and white—it was a refined gray. Handling Danzo and the Uchiha truth this way wasn't just for justice; it was because of Uchiha Kei's influence.

Cover-ups were always the cheapest option—but Kei insisted otherwise, and the villages complied because of who he was.

Kei then added: "Before Danzo's trial, you need to settle things with Itachi Uchiha. If the truth comes out first, his identity as a spy planted by the former Hokage will be exposed—he might not live to see you."

At that, Sasuke's eyes flashed cold. "Don't worry. Before Danzo's trial, I'll bring Itachi back."

And so, Sasuke's studies paused. Through Kei's arrangements, he armed himself with brand-new equipment and prepared to return to the Number Two world to end his and Itachi's feud once and for all.

Meanwhile, in that world, the disappearance of Snake Team had finally reached Black Zetsu's ears.
