Later that night, Veena wakes in her private chambers, eyes half-lidded, mind barely clinging to consciousness as the faint golden shimmer of holy magic drifting lazily through the air around her bed.
She rises without quite meaning to, practically floating as she drifts out through the palace halls in nothing but her nightgown, wandering past guards and servants who greet her with concerned looks and ask if she's alright. She answers each of them with the same dazed nod, a dopey grin fixed permanently to her face, arms wrapped tight around her own chest as she drifts, mind completely fixated on the holy magic's source.
The palace at this hour is all but silent, torches burned low along the corridors, moonlight spilling pale and blue across polished floors through tall arched windows.
She turns down a quiet side hallway where two guards are huddled close, whispering under their breath.
"It's definitely him." The first gaurd whispers to her teammate.
