Chapter 90 - Chapter 90: The Mortal Feared by the Sea King

In the face of a catastrophe beyond human resistance, to charge forward with nothing but hot blood was sheer suicide. But if by chance one survived, their heroism would be glorified tenfold—because this world craved iron-blooded legends.

But at this moment, Drogo did not wish to be a hero—because he already was one. To face what was said to be the most powerful creature in the sea, his decision was driven by rage, not foolhardy bravery.

This natural disaster had destroyed many warships and claimed countless warriors. There was no doubt the cause was Haixi and the sea dragon. As the Dothraki Beast King clad in human skin, he had to take revenge—lest he fail the fallen whose souls now shone as stars above.

His opponent was a sea dragon. To escape alive from such a foe would earn him praise from all corners of the world. But he didn't want to stride through life like some lame conqueror, blemished by shame on his record. After all, he had three dragons.

Overhead, the fleet was fleeing at full speed. Haixi sneered coldly.

"Heh... run, run, you pitiful mortals. You'll never escape the palm of the Princess of the Endless Sea."

Grey Worm was rowing with his own hands to escort his queen onto the ship commanded by Rommo. With Daenerys safely aboard, the Father of Dragons gazed into the sky, unfastened the medaled belt around his waist, and bellowed.

"Viserion, don't stop the fire! Drogon! Rhaegal! To me!"

Boom!

Responding to their father's call, the white dragon unleashed an even greater torrent of flame.

The black and green dragons stopped their dogfight and dove toward him without hesitation.

Seeing this, Haixi, gripping the naga's horn, showed utter disdain.

She believed Drogo was preparing to flee, leaving the white dragon behind as a sacrifice to buy him time. A decoy, a shield.

Strike the leader to scatter the band—that was a principle even a child understood. The mermaid could have long escaped on the naga's speed alone, but she hadn't—because she looked down on this so-called mortal. She wanted to mire him in dread before ending him herself.

She had underestimated the young dragons too, thinking she could finish them quickly. But their power had far exceeded her arrogant expectations. That's why the khal still lived.

To Haixi, Drogo's motives now seemed obvious. But things had changed. Her goal was the Father of Dragons. If she couldn't even bring down one measly insect, it would be a stain on her pride.

Drogo didn't know Haixi's true identity, but he sensed she was no ordinary being. She might look like a mere mermaid, but commanding a naga meant she carried a pedigree beyond mortal comprehension.

The stronger the enemy, the more thrilled Drogo became. Since becoming the Father of Dragons, his ambition and vision had soared beyond the reach of most men. To him, this mermaid and her naga were stepping stones on his path to dominion.

The mermaid flicked her tail high, then smacked it down with force, issuing a cold command:

"Yeho, if you wish to earn the naga's recognition and ignite the sacred flame, prepare to endure all pain. Go now—destroy the insect who troubles the Sea King."

Upon hearing this, the sea dragon coiled its massive body and shot forward like an arrow toward the lone Draconic Glory ship.

The naga was slipperier than an eel. The white dragon, who had nearly been swallowed several times, was furious. Now, with the naga exposing a weakness, its rage exploded.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The sea dragon instinctively released water to counter the dragonflame. But this time, its master no longer urged it to evade. The prolonged roasting overwhelmed its ability to self-cool, and its tail soon scorched to black.

"Gwaaah!"

"Hsssss-kkkaaa!"

The naga howled in agony, while the dragon shrieked with elation.

The bitter scent of char filled the air. Haixi, who had been enjoying her descent, wrinkled her brow in irritation at the dragon's howls. She glanced back to assess the naga's condition.

Finding the injuries minor, she slapped the naga's head with her delicate palm, scolding it in frustration.

"Stop crying! It's just a scratch! You bear the blood of the naga—you should act like it!"

Her every gesture radiated unearthly nobility. If Drogo had heard her words, he'd have cursed her for squandering a weapon countless warlords had only dreamed of possessing.

"Khal! You shine like the sun and stars!"

"Your Majesty, you are mighty beyond compare!"

Thump! Thump! Thump!

Just as Haixi turned her head, cheers erupted from the distant fleet.

The Dothraki and Golden Company were shouting, while the Unsullied raised their spears and pounded the deck in solemn reverence.

Following their gaze downward, Haixi shivered.

She saw an unbelievable sight.

Drogo had tied himself to the black dragon's forelimb with his belt, Valyrian arakh in hand, feet planted on the green dragon's back. He rode toward her like a storm-god astride two dragons.

One dragon couldn't bear his full weight—but with two sharing the load, he soared into the sky with fierce pride.

It was his first time flying, but Drogo had no fear of heights—only a growing bloodlust. That was his madness.

As the distance closed, a twisted smile crept across Haixi's flawless face. She found his display laughable. A simple brute of a man, relying on brawn and no brains.

To her, this mortal had no chance. He wouldn't even get close. The naga's lightning arcs would reduce him to ash long before that.

But Haixi was too narrow-minded. She had no idea who she was dealing with.

Her narrow vision was about to be shattered.

Caught in arcs of lightning, Drogo bared his teeth in pain—but suffered no real harm. Far from the bloody image Haixi had imagined.

Khal Drogo was the Unburnt. Not even fire could claim his life—it only strengthened him. Lightning was nothing.

Haixi's jaw dropped open in shock.

"How—how is this possible?! He's just a human!"

Then realization dawned on her.

"Perhaps... this mortal truly is extraordinary. He won the dragons' favor, he shrugs off lightning... and most of all, he made my father—the Sea King—hesitate!"

She had scoffed at her father's warning. As the Sea King, he'd shown too much caution. That's why she'd secretly ridden out on the naga—to prove that mortals were nothing but ants.

Drogo couldn't understand her words. But seeing the sea dragon's maw descending upon him, crackling with arcs of electricity, he roared:

"Drogon! Fire in the mouth!"

The black-red flames surged forth like a spiraling javelin and pierced straight into the naga's throat.

Screaming in pain, the sea dragon thrashed violently, nearly flinging Haixi from its back.

Its lightning-fast tail whipped around—striking not just Haixi with shock, but also the unsuspecting white dragon, Viserion.

Viserion was struck and immediately lost control of half his body, spiraling down toward the Draconic Glory.

Drogo's heart jumped into his throat.

"Viserion!!"
