Xue Lu quickly ordered the meal, all spicy dishes, the spicier the better.
Jiayu has always liked spicy food; as the dishes were brought to the table one by one, her eyes began to sparkle.
In fact, the reason Jiayu and Xue Lu became such good friends was largely because both of them loved Sichuan cuisine.
At first, this was quite unexpected for Xue Lu, as in her view, someone like Jiayu, a rich young lady, should prefer the kind of extremely high-end food – the kind that has only a tiny bit of each dish and looks beautifully arranged, but becomes cloying after eating too much.
But as she got to know her better, Xue Lu realized that Jiayu wasn't actually as unattainable as her outward appearance might suggest. She could gracefully and proudly navigate through various high-society events, yet she could also roll up her sleeves and sit by the roadside enjoying street-food hot pot.
This is why Xue Lu and Jiayu have maintained their friendship until now.
