Chapter 118 - Small Hands, Big Happiness

Scene 1: City School – Morning Assembly and Excited Whispers

The morning bell echoed through the corridors of City School, and students rushed toward their classrooms with the usual noise of bags, chatter, and laughter. But for Ubaid, this morning felt different. Inside his neatly packed school bag, wrapped carefully in a transparent sleeve, were a few wedding invitation cards.

As he walked into his Class 3 classroom, his eyes sparkled with excitement. He took his seat, placing his bag gently beside him, stealing quick glances at the cards as if afraid they might disappear.

His best friend Emad leaned toward him.

"Ubaid, you look very happy today. What happened?"

Ubaid smiled proudly. "My khala Rimsha is getting married."

Emad's eyes widened. "Really? When?"

"Very soon," Ubaid replied, sitting straighter. "I brought invitations today."

Before Emad could ask more, the class teacher, Miss Ayesha, entered the classroom.

"Good morning, class."

"Good morning, Miss," the students replied in unison.

The class settled down. Ubaid waited patiently, just like his mother had taught him—never interrupt a teacher. After attendance, when Miss Ayesha began checking notebooks, Ubaid slowly stood up.

"Yes, Ubaid?" Miss Ayesha asked kindly.

Ubaid walked toward her desk, holding the invitation with both hands, just like he had seen elders do at home.

"Miss, my khala's wedding is coming. My mother said I should invite my teachers first."

Miss Ayesha's face softened. She accepted the card warmly.

"Oh, that's so sweet of you. Please convey my congratulations to your family."

"Thank you, Miss," Ubaid replied politely.

As he returned to his seat, whispers spread across the classroom.

During break time, Ubaid shared invitations with Emad and a few close classmates.

Emad read the card carefully. "Wow, Ubaid. I'll tell my parents."

Ubaid nodded happily. "Please come. There will be food and music."

The boys laughed, imagining the wedding feast.

Scene 2: Junior Wing – Irfan's Innocent Joy

In another part of City School, in the Class 1 section, Irfan sat on his small chair, swinging his legs. His school bag was almost bigger than him, but he guarded it carefully because it carried something important.

His teacher, Miss Sadaf, was arranging flashcards on the board when Irfan raised his tiny hand.

"Yes, Irfan?" she asked gently.

Irfan walked forward, holding an invitation card slightly crooked in his hand.

"Miss… my khala wedding," he said in his innocent tone.

Miss Sadaf bent slightly to his level and took the card with a smile.

"Oh, that's lovely. Thank you for inviting me."

Irfan beamed. "Mama said I must give first to teacher."

"That's very good manners," Miss Sadaf said, patting his head.

During playtime, Irfan excitedly ran toward his best friend Shoaib.

"Shoaib! Wedding card!"

Shoaib took it happily. "My sister will like this."

Irfan nodded seriously. "You must come."

Other children gathered around, curious, and Irfan proudly handed out a few more cards, feeling very important.

Scene 3: Maryam's Home – Organized Chaos

At Maryam's home, the dining table was once again covered with invitation envelopes, lists, and pens. Maryam checked names while Rimsha sat beside her, sealing envelopes carefully.

Haroon entered the room, adjusting his watch.

"I'll take these invitations to my colleagues this evening."

Maryam nodded. "Please give special ones to your senior officers."

Rimsha looked up. "Aapi, I'll go with you tomorrow to visit our maternal relatives."

Maryam smiled. "Yes, we'll do that together."

Ubaid and Irfan returned from school, bubbling with stories.

"Mama, I gave card to Miss Ayesha!" Ubaid announced.

"And I give to Miss Sadaf," Irfan added proudly.

Maryam kissed both their foreheads. "Very good. You both did excellent."

Rimsha laughed softly. "Looks like the youngest hosts are the most active."

Scene 4: Imran's Home – Door-to-Door Invitations

On the other side of the city, Imran and his parents were busy visiting relatives. Hameed drove slowly through familiar streets while Kulsoom held a stack of invitations on her lap.

At one house, Kulsoom handed the card with warmth.

"This is our son Imran's wedding. Please come with family."

The relatives smiled and offered prayers.

"May Allah bless the couple."

Imran stood respectfully beside his parents, greeting elders and answering questions politely.

By evening, their feet ached, but their hearts were full.

Kulsoom sighed with contentment. "Two days of running around, but worth it."

Imran nodded. "Everyone's happiness makes it easier."

Scene 5: Two Days Later – Tired but Thankful

Two full days passed in continuous invitation distribution. Cars moved from street to street, doors opened with smiles, tea was offered, prayers were exchanged.

Back at Maryam's home, everyone finally sat down after Maghrib.

Haroon leaned back slightly. "Alhamdulillah, most invitations are done."

Maryam rubbed her temples lightly. "I didn't realize how tiring this could be."

Rimsha smiled, her eyes shining with gratitude. "But every door we knocked, people welcomed us with love."

Ubaid yawned. "Mama, wedding soon?"

Maryam laughed softly. "Very soon, beta."

Irfan clapped his hands. "I want biryani!"

Everyone laughed, the tiredness melting into warmth.

Scene 6: Night Reflections – Quiet Happiness

Later that night, as the house settled into silence, Maryam stood by the window, watching the city lights.

Rimsha joined her quietly.

"Aapi, everything feels real now."

Maryam nodded. "Because it is. Invitations are like promises—once given, a new chapter begins."

Rimsha smiled, holding that thought close to her heart.

From classrooms to living rooms, from small hands to elder blessings, the wedding announcement had traveled far. And with every card delivered, excitement grew, weaving families, friends, and futures together—one invitation at a time.
