"Captain Soi Fon's strength lives up to her reputation as former Commander of the Onmitsukidō!" Yoruichi, in cat form behind Lin Xuan, looked toward the forest, her expression shifting.
"That sounds like Shunpo. Could it be Soi Fon?"
Yoruichi glanced at Lin Xuan and raced toward the forest.
She had to see for herself.
Shunpo was powerful but hard to control. One mistake could cost your life.
She'd come to save Rukia—but she didn't want to see Soi Fon die either.
Lin Xuan noticed her leaving but didn't stop her. His gaze remained on the battlefield.
Soon Yoruichi reached the center of the forest explosion.
But when she arrived, her expression changed.
Soi Fon knelt on one knee, exhausted, covered in wounds. Her eyes were vacant—as if her soul had left her.
Not far away, a dark green armored giant lay fallen, arms and chest shattered, cracks running through what remained.
Pop!
The Susanoo shattered. Shisui Uchiha emerged from within.
Looking at the kneeling Soi Fon, Shisui exhaled in relief.
"Good thing I activated Susanoo and coated it with Armament Haki at the last second. That punch would've killed me or left me seriously wounded."
Shisui was about to approach Soi Fon when a figure appeared before him, blocking his path.
Seeing the purple-black-haired woman, Shisui smiled faintly.
"Don't worry. She's not in danger. I put her in a genjutsu.
She'll wake soon."
At the final moment, Shisui had activated his Mangekyō Sharingan—not only summoning Susanoo to block Soi Fon's attack, but casting a stronger illusion to put her to sleep.
Shisui of the Body Flicker wasn't just fast. His genjutsu was his true weapon.
In fact, Shisui's genjutsu mastery exceeded even Itachi's. Itachi had learned much of what he knew from Shisui.
Shisui glanced at Yoruichi and smiled. "You must be the black cat beside the Guild Master. In that case, I won't fight you."
His body dissolved into countless crows and vanished.
Yoruichi's pupils contracted.
She rushed to Soi Fon's side and checked her carefully.
Finding Soi Fon merely unconscious, she finally breathed easier.
But staring at where Shisui had disappeared, Yoruichi murmured, "The people that man summoned—what kind of monsters are they?"
Meanwhile, the battle between Renji Abarai and Ichigo Kurosaki was equally loud.
The more they fought, the more surprised Renji became.
At first, Ichigo fought like a novice—raw, inexperienced.
But as the battle continued, Ichigo improved at a terrifying rate.
Renji couldn't defeat him. Even using Kidō several times, he barely scratched Ichigo.
"Who the hell is this kid?" Renji wondered.
He didn't know Ichigo had become a Shinigami less than three days ago. Under Lin Xuan's training, he was already stronger than his canon counterpart at the same stage.
At minimum, he could flexibly use the spiritual power inside him.
Fighting Renji was rapidly filling the gaps in Ichigo's combat experience.
They kept fighting. Ichigo kept growing.
Finally, Renji lost patience and shouted, "Roar, Zabimaru!"
His Zanpakutō entered Shikai instantly, lashing toward Ichigo like a whip.
Ichigo dodged backward, blocking with his Zanpakutō.
But Zabimaru moved like a serpent, slipping past his guard and cutting him several times.
Boom!
Ichigo was knocked back repeatedly, accumulating wounds, looking battered.
Then, as time passed—
"Getsuga Tenshō!"
Ichigo shouted. Zangetsu blazed with pale blue light. A crescent blade of energy slashed forward.
Renji's face changed. "He's already learned Shikai?"
He raised his Zanpakutō to block.
Boom!
The collision sent shockwaves through the ground, gouging out a massive crater. Renji was sent flying by a single slash.
