"Please, enjoy the festivities, Luna Lilah."
Lilah listened to his quiet footsteps as he walked away and when his steps had become considerably faint, she turned to leave as well.
Her steps were steady as she tapped her cane along the garden path, but her chest felt unsettled.
Something about their exchange stirred memories she hadn't wanted to recall. She tightened her grip on her cane, whispering inwardly to herself, It's fine. Everything is fine.
The moment she re-entered the corridor, a familiar warmth and scent enveloped her.
Strong arms wrapped around her, steady and protective, pulling her into a chest she recognized instantly.
"K-kael," she breathed, a little flustered.
His lips pressed gently against her forehead.
"Where have you been, wifey?" His tone was soft but edged with concern.
"In the garden," she answered truthfully, her smile faint.
