Chapter 368 - Chapter 368: Little Yuli Is Older

Chapter 368: Little Yuli Is Older

The moment she sensed the fluctuation in her Daoist Alter Ego's aura, Miss Kirin left the Daoist Artifact Pavillion's convalescent ward with complete satisfaction.

She felt at peace again.

A family should be complete, after all.

Somewhere deep in her heart, she oddly found herself agreeing with the Imperial Alter Ego's behavior… She was now genuinely looking forward to when her Daoist Alter Ego's memories would sync back.

But just as this thought crossed her mind, Miss Kirin paused and fell into deep contemplation.

What had made her like this?

Was it really okay to scheme against herself like this?

Such thoughts briefly flashed through her mind, but quickly dissipated.

It's fine—since they're all "me," they'll surely understand each other.

Besides… it is kind of fun…

———

Luo Wusheng had no idea what kind of thoughts were surging through the minds of these different Alter Egos of the Empress.

But after witnessing the changes that occurred when the Mortal Alter Ego met with the Daoist Alter Ego, he more or less figured out what had happened.

Although his ability to read people couldn't match his cunning Junior Sister, this time, he had seen through everything faster than she had.

After all, she lacked one crucial piece of intel, which left her completely in the dark about those changes.

(So... the Empress has finally cracked? Or maybe... they've all been heavily fragmented personalities from the start?)

Such a thought rose in Luo Wusheng's mind.

Did the original version of her in the source material have this kind of tendency?

Uh... in the original story, Miss Kirin—the Mortal Alter Ego—dispersed early on, and after resolving the chaos caused by the Netherkin, the Empress only then revealed her ties with the Daoist Sect Chief Disciple. After that, it seemed like only Little Yuli kept having socially disastrous moments, while the Empress herself never really had the chance to show this side?

Staring at the tightly shut door in front of him, Luo Wusheng fell into thought.

At that moment, a peculiar voice rang out beside him.

"Senior Brother, didn't you say you had a pretty good relationship with the Daoist Sect Chief Disciple?"

"Did you somehow offend Sister Ji?"

The voices of two girls sounded simultaneously from either side of the Demon Sect's Holy Saint… and then both he and his junior sister turned their gazes to the far right.

Little Yuli blushed slightly.

"Well, it's not our first time meeting. After I woke up just now, I talked to her a bit. She's a few years older than me…"

So that's why she started calling her "Sister"?

"And I wonder when Sister Yuli will be calling me 'Sister Bai'?" Bai Xiaoyao chimed in with a sweet smile.

"No way!"

The sword fairy puffed up her chest, gathering her confidence as she looked at Bai Xiaoyao and asked, "Are you even older than me?"

Luo Wusheng looked at Little Yuli's breast and silently confirmed: yep, if we say that whoever's breast is bigger is older, then it's not wrong to say that Little Yuli is older.

Though he thought so to himself, he only gave a light cough aloud, cutting off the bickering between the two girls.

"Ahem… perhaps she's just a bit busy right now. After all, following yesterday's events, she still needs to help those severely injured Nascent Soul elders recover…"

He said that aloud, but he knew very well what the real reason was that he'd just been kicked out.

Just moments ago, he and Bai Xiaoyao had been directly thrown into Little Yuli's room at the Daoist Artifact Pavillion's convalescent ward by Miss Kirin.

Inside the room, Ji Yanyao had been discussing something with the sword fairy. But she quickly sensed a group approaching via teleportation, led by none other than her own Mortal Alter Ego.

According to Little Yuli, when the Daoist Alter Ego sensed everything, she even struck a sage-like pose in front of her, and with a calm and aloof voice, said:

"The people coming to pick you up are here."

And right after that, her calm aura…

Vanished instantly.

The tranquil sea became a raging storm.

Although the Daoist Alter Ego has the most stable heart among the three Alter Egos, even she couldn't withstand this overwhelming shock upon encountering some XXX related scene for the first time in her life.

Especially since the protagonist of those scenes is herself.

All that "natural Dao," "supreme detachment," and "forgetting emotions" was instantly thrown out the window.

Thus, Luo Wusheng, who had tried to strike up a conversation, was promptly kicked out... though he wisely dragged the two girls along with him.

The Holy Saint of the Demon Sect had very clearly sensed the killing intent from that Daoist Sect Chief Disciple—though he's not quite sure who it was directed at—and instantly chickened out on the spot.

"…She is in charge of wrapping up yesterday's events, so it's perfectly reasonable that she doesn't have time to receive us right now," Luo Wusheng said, almost convincing even himself. He turned to the two girls beside him and added, "We've already disturbed her for quite some time. Even if she didn't say anything, it's probably about time for us to leave anyway."

Bai Xiaoyao seemed to be pondering something, while Little Yuli gave a clueless nod in agreement.

But just then, the heavy wooden doors that had only recently slammed shut rumbled open again.

From behind the open doors, nineteen Nascent Soul cultivators from Sword Province awkwardly emerged—only to freeze the moment they laid eyes on Luo Wusheng.

The two sides stared at each other in stunned silence. The first to speak was, of course, the most clueless of the bunch.

"Lord Luo? You got kicked out too?"

As soon as he said this, an elderly Daoist with eyes like brass bells slapped the back of his head.

"Would it kill you to not talk for once?!"

Can't you see when something is best left unsaid?

Luo Wusheng was, admittedly, just a tiny bit embarrassed.

The excuse he had made moments ago was instantly torn to shreds, and both girls' eyes shifted toward him.

Ignoring their prickling gazes, Luo looked instead to the red-faced Nascent Soul cultivator at the front of the group.

With just one glance, Comrade Guan (a.k.a. the red-faced one) understood perfectly.

"I didn't expect to run into Fellow Daoist Luo again so soon…" the man cupped his fists, his expression unchanging. "Unfortunately, we've only just recovered from our injuries and are now looking for a place to stay in the capital… Besides, this isn't really the place to talk."

"Don't worry about it, Fellow Daoist Guan. I'll be at the Demon Artifact Pavilion handling matters until dusk. Once you've settled in, you can come find me there."

"Then we'll come visit you at the pavilion later."

"That works perfectly."

With the clueless Nascent Soul cultivator silenced by his peers, both sides reached an agreement and went their separate ways at the entrance of the residence.

———

A short while later…

Luo Wusheng had successfully bluffed his way past the two girls.

After all, this whole thing was just a minor episode. Although Bai Xiaoyao and Lu Yuliu were a little suspicious, they didn't really dig too deep into it—especially given how little they had to go on.

What's worth noting is that Luo Wusheng had now returned to his office in the Demon Artifact Pavilion, while the two girls had headed back to their personal residence just outside the pavilion.

(Well, they've been through a lot again, so a little relaxation is warranted...)

Besides, he figured he'd be tied up for quite a while with those Nascent Souls who were coming to repay their debt for being saved. It wouldn't be convenient to have the girls around during that.

What, was he supposed to make them serve tea to guests?

"Though… I could maybe get Bai Xiaoyao to pour me a cup…"

He muttered that to himself with a hint of sarcasm, leaning back in his chair as he tapped his fingers lightly on the desk, eyes glinting.

"A storm's brewing…"
